Meanwhile, Jen was hard at work taking inventory. "MASTERSON!" Coach Harder shouted, startling the girl. "Dobbs was five minutes late, and he was on your watch!" he told her sternly. Jen let out a sigh. Although her boss adored her, he could be very boorish, and was definitely too hard on her, and she put a lot of pressure on herself as it is! "I'm afraid I'm gonna have to make you stay an hour overtime." He told her. Jen was annoyed. Charlie Dobbs was her ex boyfriend, and he wasn't exactly Mr. Responsible, so why did Jen have to make sure he got there on time? "What am I, my ex's keeper?" she muttered in frustration. Coach heard this and turned around. Jen felt nervous, hoping he wouldn't get her into more trouble for that. Luckily for her, he decided to take a more diplomatic approach. "Masterson, do you know why I put so much pressure on you?" he asked. She was a bit surprised. He'd never asked her that, and she genuinely wanted to know. "No, why?" she asked. "It's because you're my best employee. You give a new meaning to the phrase, "team player"! Never have I had such a responsible, dedicated and loyal employee! I put pressure on you because I know you can handle it! Now get your head in the game, missy!" he said, walking away. Jen felt a little better. She still didn't think she should have to get in trouble and she still wished he'd ease up but, that pep talk did help her feel better. Soon, Jude came up to her. "Hey, babe." he said. "Hi, sweetie!" she smile. "Thought I'd swing by to see you during my break. How's your day been?" Jude asked. Jen sighed. "Not good. Coach is making me stay an extra hour because Charlie was late." she said. "Bummer." he said. "Yeah, but he did tell me I was his best employee, so that was nice." she smiled. "Cool. I should probably go, just wanted to drop by and say hi real quick." he told her. "Okay. Actually, Jude? Would you like me and Jonesy to drop you off at home after work?" she asked. Jude beamed a bit at this. That would give him the perfect opportunity to invite her over and hopefully give her her gift and ask her to the dance. "Sounds good. Thanks, babe." he said. "No problem. Bye, sweetie!" The two shared a brief kiss, then Jude went back to work.
