Chapter 3
-Levi's pov-
As the sun starts to set sometime after lunch, I patiently wait for Hange to show up and the rest of the cadets to join us by the forest. I swear no one here knows the importance of showing up on time which pisses me off the most, after cleanliness. While I'm petting my horse to pass time, I hear Hange yell out to me in her annoying high-pitched voice.
"LEEEEVVIIII" she yells out to me while waving her hand at me like crazy.
I've never seen anyone as happy as her when it comes to training. I guess that's what happens when you start to go insane after being contained inside these walls for many years. There's not much to do except fight to survive and hopefully not get eaten by a titan. However, I don't get how people have time for love and marriage. Just give up on your dreams and die, as I always say. Of course a certain cadet, Eren, wouldn't know that because he's too emotional about his mother's death.
Hange jumped off her horse and tied up the reins while she fixed her ODM gear. I watched her as she did that and didn't realize I was staring until Hange looked up to me and asked, "Something wrong Levi?". I quickly turned my head around and walked towards the trainees to start.
"Ugh why was I doing that, I need a reality check" I grunted while I shouted at everyone to get in place.
-Hange's pov-
As I was fixing my gear I felt someone staring at me, but I didn't think much of it until I saw Levi's eyes looking at me. I felt embarrassed for a second thinking something was on me or I didn't wear my gear properly, as a tend to do that sometimes. I was pretty sure I didn't spill food on my clothes so what's with that weird look? I asked him if something was wrong, but he quickly turned away and walked off to get the training started. He really didn't need to feel all grumpy about that but its whatever.
I joined Levi by standing next to him as he announced what the cadet's tasks was. After that, Levi and I lead the team into the forest and instructed them on how to properly kill a titan without getting eaten. I spoke this part as I was the one to discover this useful technique. Levi then demonstrated exactly how it should be done and everyone was in pure astonishment when he zoomed past through all those trees at amazing speeds. Got to say, Ackermans are one of the most skillful people I met with godly talents. Even I wouldn't be able to kill as many titans as Levi, but then again I spend most of my time researching them rather than being on the front lines.
It was close to sunset and the cadets looked super exhausted, so we decided to head back for the day. Levi and I rode our horses in silence all the way and it was really awkward but making conversation with him can be tough. Once we got back to the stables and we made sure everyone was back in their rooms for the night, I wished Levi a good night while he nodded in response.
-Levi's pov-
Not going to lie but I don't think I've ever heard Hange wish a good night but the way she said it made my heartbeat faster. I have no clue what's been wrong with me recently and it's annoying since It's not under my control. I try to get the thought of her out of my mind and drag myself back to my room. When I open my room, I see Hange sitting on the couch across from my bed with a cup of tea placed on the table.
"JESUS" I yelped when I saw her sitting there with a creepy smile.
"Well hello cap'n!" she exclaimed as she sat back and relaxed.
With a sigh I said, "what do you think you're doing here and how the heck did you get in?".
"don't ask, but I do have some news to share with you about the titans" she then takes out an old journal which I figured is where she keeps all her theories and findings. I was already tired as hell, but I don't think I can just make Hange leave especially when she got something important to discuss. So I sat down on the couch next to her and continued to watch her pull out more stuff.
"Ok, so my assistant found some interesting things about the titans we captured and would like for you to have a look." She then passed me her notebook with a bunch of writings and drawings.
"However the catch is that we don't know if this applies to an abnormal titan as their behavior is way different from a normal one." Hange states.
"So what now? You want to catch an abnormal?" I questioned her as I knew it was a risky mission.
"Well…I have went into consideration that you'll probably say no but you would have no idea how much this would mean to me" as she said this, her dark brown eyes stared into mine and I thought I saw it sparkle for second. I gave it a long hard thought and finally agreed to her.
"fine, but on one condition…Erwin and I will assist you and this will be the last abnormal we'll catch for you, got it pea brain?"
Her whole face lit up and she closed in on me as I tried to back away.
"Omg, thank you so much Levi!" right when she said that she went back to her papers and everything to continue her little rant about what else she found.
I found it kind of cute and admirable about how someone like her could have a passion for a human massacring giant. But at this point I was starting to feel my eyelids droop down from how exhausted I was and last thing I remember was falling asleep on something warm and firm.
