Back aboard his shuttle, Kylo Ren takes a seat in his private quarters. As soon as the door closes, he exhales deeply and lets the tears fall at last. He holds his face in his hands and shakes his head back and forth. For the second time in the span of just a few days, he lost her. He lost Rey. The first time he lost her was when he offered to be her teacher. She said no by slashing his face out of self defense. The second time he offered her the galaxy, a ruling position in the First Order...everything. He offered her everything and she rejected him again. She had left him alive remarkably. But she still left him.
Kylo cannot get the image of her out of his mind no matter how hard he tries. His mind replays how she fought for him and with him in Snoke's throne room. She was so graceful yet fierce. The fire burning inside her is the same fire he feels. He cannot get their conversation in the elevator out of his mind. Hearing her say his name aloud ignited something inside him he thought was long dead. His name on her lips is something he wants to hear every day. But he knows he cannot be Ben Solo and still be the Supreme Leader of the First Order. Rey needs to understand this.
A knock at the door breaks Kylo's concentration for the moment. He sniffs and wipes his eyes with the back of his gloved hand. A grumble escapes his plush lips as he goes to stand and open the door. As soon as it slides open, Kylo peers down to see Hux standing there.
"What do you want, Hux? The only reason I should be seeing you now is if you have an update on the Resistance or the girl," he mutters, trying to keep his tone even.
"Sir, I feel I must ask about...well, I must ask once again what happened in the throne room with our Supreme Leader. With all the destruction, surely it wasn't just the girl," Hux begins as he tries to not grit his teeth in annoyance with the new Supreme Leader.
Kylo clenches his fist as he narrows his eyes at General Hux. Of course it wasn't just Rey. She didn't kill Snoke - he did. He killed the Supreme Leader to protect her and break away from his tormentor at last. But Kylo couldn't risk this getting out to the rest of the First Order.
"As I mentioned before, the girl murdered Snoke. I tried to stop her but she wouldn't listen to reason. She killed the Supreme Leader and then knocked me out. End of story," Kylo explains as calmly as he can.
"You see, Sir, this is what I don't understand. I admit I do not know much about this 'magic power' she clearly has that is similar to yours. However...and please don't choke me again for saying this...I just cannot imagine our great Supreme Leader, master of the Dark Side, was bested by a simple scavenger from a junkyard planet," Hux asks, trying to hide his nerves.
Kylo does not break eye contact with the General. He stares down the man and feels his rage rising steadily.
"You don't know anything about her. She is more than just a 'simple scavenger.' She is strong with the Force and only getting stronger. This girl is not a force to be reckoned with. But if she will join us, we will truly be unstoppable. This is why she must be brought to me alive if found," Kylo replies with strength in his voice, a strength he thought was long gone.
Hux stares at the man in front of him and opens his mouth to speak, but closes it. He knows it's a losing battle in regards to the scavenger. All he can do now is follow the orders given just enough to think of a way to make the great Kylo Ren lose.
"Understood, Supreme Leader. If we find her, we will bring her directly to you," Hux states cooly.
He bows his head slightly and turns to walk away. Kylo shuts the door and is once again alone, his heart racing wildly beneath his scarred chest.
