I noticed I spelled some names wrong. I fixted it :)

The Dream

The moon was now high in the night sky as the trio walked into the manor. After a quick discussion with Crusch, it was set that all four could stay the night in the manor. Since Emilia was already asleep, Subaru picked the room next to her and had the twins stay in the room on his other side. That way, they could all be close to him.

Rem was very happy to say the least. Her sister was there with her. The man she loved was with her. These were the thoughts that filled her head as she fell asleep. The twins were sharing the large bed, just as they did when they were children. The blue haired twin was having a nice dream. Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to last.

Rem's dream

Rem looked around to see the large castle in the capital. She ventured around confused for a little while before a pair of little feet came running to her.

"Aunt Rem, Aunt Rem! Daddy said he wants to see you." A little girl's voice came from behind her. The girl had pale skin, silverish hair, and purple eyes. However, her hair spiked up a bit on the top.

Rem stood in silence for a moment. Who was this little girl? Why was she calling her 'aunt'? Who was her father? "Alright. Where is he?"

"Daddy's in his bedroom. Mommy said that she had to go out and Daddy wanted to ask you something." The little girl grabbed Rem's hand and pulled her along.

The large halls were marvelous to look at. The gold along the ceiling and walls made everything shimmer. Eventually the two came to a large set of wooden doors. Rem could only guess this was the King and Queen's bedroom. But why would the King want to meet with her?

The door opened to reveal none other than Subaru Natsuki. He looked older, not by much, but older. His signature tracksuit long forgotten and replaced with nicer more fitting clothes.

"Ah. Hello Rem. Thank you for getting her Elise." He bent down and rubbed the little girl's head. "Now, go and help Aunt Ram in the kitchen. She can't teach you if you aren't there to be taught."

"Yes Daddy!" The girl, whose name was Elise, happily skipped off to find her other aunt. Rem stood back in silent amazement. She never thought that this would come to pass.

"Care to come in?"

Rem nodded in response and followed the man she loved more than anything into his personal room. "Why did you summon Rem?"

"Why else? I wanted to talk about all of this." It seemed that this Subaru was her guide on this little dream journey. "You can probably guess where we are and why we're here."

"Yes. Rem understands that we are in the castle. That must mean that Emilia won the crown and took Subaru as her husband." A hint of disappointment tainted her voice.

Subaru noticed and sat her down on the bed next to him. "Yes. Here, she did win and I became her husband. However, I could not live without you in my life. Therefore, I chose you as our personal maid to stay with us at all times. Now, you are the caretaker of Elise and soon to be Synako." (Sin-ah-ko)

Rem sat back and took it all in. She was the one that watched over the child of the man she loves.

"Now, down to why I called you here." This caught Rem's attention. "I have gained permission from the Queen to do this." Rem wasn't quite sure what he meant but was happy, nonetheless.

"Can Rem have some time to take this all in?"

"Of course. I will come see you personally later." He kissed her on her lips and stood to leave. "You're welcome to stay in here and sleep."

Rem took up the offer and laid back. Her eyes were soon closed, and this section of her dream ended.

When she opened her eyes, she found herself to still be in the castle. Sitting up from the bed, she realized she was no longer in her maid uniform, but a light blue dress.

"Huh? When did Rem change clothes?" She asked aloud.

"Mama." A little voice came from across the room. Carefully, Rem walked to find the voice. It didn't take long. A little girl, no older than a year, stood with her hands on the side of the crib. She had light blue hair and dark almond eyes. This was the child of her and Subaru. Another child laid in the crib, a little boy that looked just like Subaru. 'This must be Synako.'

"Is this another dream?"

Before she could go into thought, she felt a tug at her sleeve. "Aunt Rem? Are you okay?" It was Elise. She looked a couple years older. The young girl looked to be about 5 or 6 years old. She now wore a bright yellow dress and white shoes.

"Yes, Elise. Rem is fine. Thank you." This never failed to get a giggle out of Elise. She always found it hilarious that her two aunts talked funny.

"Daddy told me to come get you. Something about a cull?"

Rem knew exactly what she meant. The Witch's cult. "Elise, stay here and protect them." She ran to the door and stopped as her baby began to cry. She looked back to hear "Don't worry Sissy, I've got you."

The young demon sprinted outside to find Subaru, Emilia, her sister, and Puck standing in a fighting stance. In front, over 100 cult members faced them. Rem now understood where this was going. She was going to have to defend her family.

"Rem. Good, Elise found you. I figured you would be looking after our daughter." Subaru gave her a quick kiss and stood back up. Not knowing what to think, Rem just went with it.

Quickly the fight ensued. Blasts of fire came from the mages out in front. Puck took the liberty of helping Emilia create a shield of ice.

"Al Huma!" Rem shouted and launched ice shards which impaled many of the mages in front of her. This kept up for a little while of just one side firing, then the other. Rem eventually pulled out her Morningstar and proceeded to bash heads.

What they failed to notice was that a small number of cultists had gotten on their flank. Before they had a chance to react, Ram took a fireball to her back. Rem was horrified and enraged by what just happened.

"Shamac!"

A dark cloud covered them all. In the darkness, a hand grabbed hers.

"Rem, take Ram inside to where the children are." Subaru guided her hand to that of her sister's and covered them. "Alright you bastards. You wanna hurt the ones I love most? I pity the fate I'm about to impose upon you." With that bold declaration, Subaru unsheathed his sword and rushed the enemy.

The blue demon was carrying her sister and running as fast as she could. Everything was going wrong. This was no longer a nice and peaceful dream. It was a nightmare.

Outside Rem's dreamscape

A sudden jolt shook Ram awake. She peered around before her tired eyes landed on her sister who was shaking.

"No, Ram, Subaru. I love you, don't die." Rem cried in her sleep.

Normally, Ram was capable of soothing her. So, she slid closer to her sister and wrapped an arm over her. "Shhhh. You're okay Rem. Ram is right here." That only got her kicked. Rem was not in control of her actions and couldn't stop shaking. Before Ram could try again, a pink glow lit the room. Rem's horn came out.

"Not good." Ram did the only thing she could think of to help her sister. She ran to find Subaru.

Subaru's room

Subaru was still awake. He was trying to figure out how to make things work between himself, Rem and Emilia. The obvious route was a polyamorous relationship. That way, everyone could be happy. Although, he wasn't sure that Emilia would be keen on the idea. He was interrupted by a flurry of knocks on his door.

"Barusu! Wake up!" Ram's voice came from the other side.

Before he could answer, Ram kicked the door in. "Woah, what did I do this time?" Subaru went to shield himself from her.

"No, you idiot. It's Rem. She's having a night terror and I can't get her out of it. Ram thought that maybe if you were there, she could wake up." Ram tried not to be too loud, but her voice was rising.

"Alright." He didn't even get the chance to put on a shirt before Ram dragged him to the next room over. What he saw before him was scary.

Rem was shaking and her arms were flailing all over the place. The only light source in the room came from the horn on her head. Carefully, Subaru made his way over to the bed and grabbed her hand.

"Rem. You're okay. Nothing bad is happening." He laid down beside her and pulled her onto his bare chest. "I've got you. You're okay." Suddenly, her left hand flew up and socked him in his left eye. He hissed in pain but stayed quiet. He decided to hold her tight so that her arms and legs stopped moving. Her head was still thrashing so he couldn't get to her horn.

"Barusu, are you..?" Ram started but he hushed her.

"I'm fine." He directed his attention back to Rem. "I love you Rem. I'm not going to leave you."

Somehow, that made it through all the pain and rage that Rem was feeling. That one phrase that she longed to here for so long now was able to calm her down. As her body began to settle, Subaru gently tapped the horn, making it retract.

Ram was astonished. She always believed that Subaru could never really care about anyone else. Now she just witnessed how big of a heart he really had.

"Ram?" Subaru called to her. "Do you mind if I stay here with her?"

"Oh by all means, take my spot in the bed." She huffed.

"You're welcome to come lay down here as well. I know you want to be close to her." He offered her his hand.

At first, she just stared at him like he was some sort of idiot. "Fine." Her voice was low and quiet. She sat on the edge of the bed. Since Subaru was against the wall on his right and Rem was on his right side, Ram laid down on his left.

"Don't worry. I won't do anything while you sleep. I'm much to afraid of what you would do to me when you woke up." He chuckled as she got comfortable.

"If you even think of doing something perverted, I'll make sure that you never breath again." With that, she rolled over and was soon asleep.

Subaru laid back and stroked Rem's hair. 'Your sister is really something isn't she.' After a little while, he noticed that Ram had wiggled herself closer to him. Almost to the point where she was touching him. An idea popped into his head that could get him killed, but that wasn't anything new. He stretched his left arm out and placed it above Ram's head.

They stayed that way for another 5 minutes before Ram shifted again. This time, she not only moved closer, but her head now rested on his arm. 'There, now you have a pillow that won't go anywhere.' Subaru looked back to how he thought of Ram. She was stuck up and could be a brat, but she was his first friend at the Roswaal manor. She had taught him many things in his many loops. She had shown him how to read and write in their language. Even taught him a thing or two about cooking.

Even when he thought about it, she was just as beautiful as Rem. They were similar in so many ways. One being that both had tried to kill him in previous loops. Only difference was, the twin on his right succeeded. 'I wonder what Ram would say if I told her that she held a place in my heart too.'

That's a wrap on chapter 3. I've decided on an upload schedule. I'm gonna do Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays. That way I can have time and work on other stuff. Peace!
