Chapter 3
On the next day, Ash and Serena are invited by the Maple Family to breakfast, they hear a lot of stories about the Kalos, and Max is surprised that Ash jumps off the tower just to save Pikachu, and Serena is also surprised about what Ash does in the Hoenn Region, like forfeit the Mauville City Gym just because his Pikachu gain a special boost.
"I thought that you would get a Torchic considered how cute it is." Caroline says, "But you picked a Mudkip in the end."
Serena says, "I know, but I already have Braixen and I think it will be great if I use a Water Type."
"I am sure what choice you have, you are going to be a great coordinator." Ash says as Serena smiles at Ash's praise.
Just then, the door knocks as they hear a voice, "Um… E-excuse me… I…I'd like to get a Pokémon, please…"
As they look outside, they see a boy walking towards them. Norman says, "Hm? Aren't you..."
Max says, "Hey, you're Wally, I remember you living next to us."
"Y-yes… I'm supposed to go stay with my relatives in Verdanturf Town for a while. But I thought I might be lonely by myself, so I wanted to bring a Pokémon with me. But I've never caught a Pokémon by myself… I'm not sure if I can." Wally says.
"Mm-hmm. I see." Norman says. "Well, Ash! You heard all that, right?"
"Yes, Mr. Norman." Ash says. "But what's the matter?"
"Can you go with Wally, and make sure that he safely catches a Pokemon?" Norman asks.
"You can count on me." Ash says, and Norman gives Wally a Zigzagoon so he can use it to capture a Pokemon.
"Oh, wow… Your Pokémon, sir?" Wally asks.
"Hm...I'll give you a Pokeball, too, so go give it your best!" Norman says.
"Th-thank you, Mr. Norman! Um…Ash? You will… You will come with me, right?" Wally asks.
"Yes, we will be back soon." Ash says as he and Wally leave the house to Route 102, Wally asks, "Ash… Pokémon hide in tall grass like this, don't they?"
"They do." Ash says as Wally steps into the grass. "P-please stay there to watch and see if I can catch one properly."
Ash nods as they see Wally find a Ralts. Wally says, "I'm su-supposed to try to weaken the Pokémon before I throw my Poké Ball, right? I read that in a book recently."
Zigzagoon uses Tackle to weaken the Ralts, and then Wally throws a Pokeball to capture it. "I did it… It's my… My own Pokémon! Thanks so much, Ash! Let's head back to the Gym!"
After getting back to the gym, Norman asks, "So did it go well?"
"Yes, it did! Thank you! Let me give you back your Pokémon, sir." Wally returns the Zigzagoon to Norman.
"And you, Ash… Thank you so much for coming with me. It was all thanks to you two that I was able to catch Ralts. My very own Ralts… I will always, always treasure it! …Oh! I know! It's not much of a thank-you, but…um…Ash? Will you let me see your PokéNav Plus for a second?"
"OK, that and…ummm…there!" Ash says as he shows him the PokeNav Plus, and he adds the PlayNav into the PokeNav Plus.
"I read in a book how you can use the PlayNav to take care of your Pokémon and train them. And there's even supposed to be this thing called the PSS, where you can meet up with other Trainers and battle friends and more! I've wanted to have my own Pokémon for so long…and do all those kinda things together… So I've had all these kinds of apps installed on my PokéNav Plus for ages! Embarrassing, huh? I'm going to try my best together with Ralts. You do your best, too, Ash! Oh, but my mom's waiting for me. I've got to get going! I hope we'll meet again, Ash! And you, too, Mr. Norman!"
After he leaves, Serena says, "A PlayNav...that sounds cool."
"I know." Ash says, "I can help you install it as well so we can use it."
Max says, "Those PokeNav Plus look so cool, I would want to have one once I go to the Devon Corp."
"I am sure you can get it." Ash says with a smile.
"Hmm. That boy will be worth keeping an eye on. But for now…Max! If you want to become strong as a Trainer, listen to my advice. First head for Rustboro City, which lies beyond this town. There you should challenge the Gym Leader, Roxanne. After her, go on to the other Pokémon Gyms and defeat their Leaders as well. Collect Badges from them, understand? Of course, I'm a Gym Leader, too. I'm sure we'll battle one day. But that will only be after you've become stronger, Max."
"I know, it is just like Ash back when we are traveling together." Max says.
Norman asks, "And what about you, Ash? Do you want to challenge me now?"
"I think it will be better if I challenge you after getting four badges." Ash says, and Norman nods.
After it is done, Ash and Serena bid farewell to Norman, Caroline and Max as they are going to Rustboro City.
On Route 104, Ash and Serena notice the beach and Ash says, "Hoenn is a region that has filled with Ocean, I must say that there is also a lot of Pokemon we can find."
"I see." Serena says as she notices a Taillow. "Taillow is young—it has only just left its nest. As a result, it sometimes becomes lonesome and cries at night. This Pokémon feeds on Wurmple that live in forests. That's what the Pokedex says."
"Yeah. I remember that I caught one here as they were asked by Team Rocket to attack us, but after we fed them with our food, they turn their sides and help us defeat Team Rocket."
"Sounds like Team Rocket has been causing you trouble ever since you started your journey." Serena adds.
"I know, I am glad that they are not here." Ash says, and they also notice a dove Pokemon passing by. "And that is Pidove, I owned one before and I know that these Pokémon live in cities. They are accustomed to people. Flocks often gather in parks and plazas."
"But they are not in the city, though." Serena says as they enter the Petalburg Woods.
While they are training in the Petalberg Woods, Serena's Wurmple starts to evolve, and it is white-colored with red eyes. Serena scans it and she says, "It's a Silcoon. Silcoon was thought to endure hunger and not consume anything before its evolution. However, it is now thought that this Pokémon slakes its thirst by drinking rainwater that collects on its silk."
"Which means you're going to evolve it into a Beautifly." Ash says. "As for Cascoon, another kind of evolution of Wurmple, If it is attacked, Cascoon remains motionless however badly it may be hurt. It does so because if it were to move, its body would be weak upon evolution. This Pokémon will also not forget the pain it endured."
They also notice a Slakoth hanging on the tree, and Ash says, "Slakoth's heart beats just once a minute. Whatever happens, it is content to loaf around motionless. It is rare to see this Pokémon in motion."
"I can tell..." Serena says as she stiffs as she sees a Phantump flying by. "What is a Phantump doing here?"
"Well, I think this place is also good for Phantump? According to old tales, these Pokémon are stumps possessed by the spirits of children who died while lost in the forest."
"Stop, Ash. You're scaring me." Serena says as she sighs after seeing a Cottonee passingby. "Hey, a Cottonee."
"Perhaps because they feel more at ease in a group, they stick to others they find. They end up looking like a cloud." Ash says, and he notices a Paras on the ground, "And that is Paras. Paras has parasitic mushrooms growing on their back called tochukaso. They grow large by drawing nutrients from this Bug Pokémon host. They are highly valued as a medicine for extending life."
Once they move forward, Ash tells Serena about the place where he met Treecko, and he also lets Sceptile go greet its old friend before they leave. And then they find a scientist standing around and he notices the two trainers.
"Hmmm...Not a one to be found...Hello, have you seen any Pokemon called Shroomish around here?" The scientist asks.
"Shroomish...If Shroomish senses danger, it shakes its body and scatters spores from the top of its head. This Pokémon's spores are so toxic, they make trees and weeds wilt. Maybe that will be a good way to find it." Ash says.
Just then, they hear a voice, "I was going to ambush you, but you had to dawdle in Petalberg Woods forever, did you? I got sick of waiting, so here I am!"
They notice the man wearing a blue and white striped shirt, and a cap with the symbol on it. He says, "You! Devon researcher! Hand over those papers!"
The scientist hides behind Ash and Serena and he says, "You two are Pokemon Trainers, aren't you? You've got to help me, please!"
"Hunh? What do you think you're doing? What, you're going to protect him?" The man says. "No one who crosses Team Aqua gets any mercy, not even a kid!"
"Team Aqua?" Ash and Pikachu exclaim in shock, "I thought it was disbanded a few years ago..."
"Guess what? We got revived and we are going to do what we haven't finished a few years ago." He sends out a Poochyena, and Ash has Pikachu to battle. After Poochyena is defeated, he says, "You're crazily strong...you've got some nerve meddling with Team Aqua! Come on and battle me again! I wish I could say that, but I'm out of Pokemon...And hey, we of Team Aqua are also after something in Rustboro. I'll let you go for today."
Then the grunt leaves, the researcher says, "Whew...that was awfully close! Thanks to you, he didn't rob me of these important papers. I know! I'll give you this as thanks!"
He gives them a machine and Serena asks, "What is this?"
"That's an Exp. Share, a super high-tech device. I had to strain every fiber of my brain and body to develop this device! Turn the switch on, and the battle experience will be shared by all party Pokemon! Please give it a try." The scientist says as they put the device away.
"Ah!" The scientist says with horror, "Didn't that Team Aqua thug say they were after something in Rustboro, too? Uh-oh! It's a crisis! I can't be wasting time!"
Then the scientist leaves, and Serena asks, "Now what are we going to do now?"
"I think let's go to Rustboro as soon as possible. Team Aqua is back...this won't be good for us..." Ash says as they continue to walk in the forest.
Here is a new chapter, and in this chapter, Ash and Serena meet Wally, who will be Ash's League Rival, and then they also learn that Team Aqua is revived and they are after Kyogre again. I hope you like this chapter and the next one will be Rustboro City.
