I do not own any of these characters besides Cheyenne and Adam. Also, I wanted to give Adam some sort of a sad backstory, that will show what made him tough and how he and Cheyenne got so close.

The first half of school was a blast for Cheyenne, she shared her first two classes with none other than Isabella and even met every single one of Isabella's Fireside Girlfriends. Everything was going well for her.

As for Adam, Phineas was so appreciative of what Adam had done that soon he caught up with his brother in the hallway as Ferb was putting his books in his locker, getting ready for lunch.

"Hey, Ferb,"

Ferb turned to his stepbrother. "Oh, hey Phin."

"There's someone I want you to meet." Soon enough, a dark-skinned boy with puffy hair and glasses stood next to Phineas. "This is Adam. You have no idea what he did to that jerk Kevin this morning."

Ferb widened his eyes. "Oh yeah, I just saw him walking down the hall with a bloody nose. Wait, HE did that to him?"

Phineas nodded his head with a smile. "Yeah, also, Mr. Fortis has assigned a group project, and I called Mom and asked her if I could invite Adam over, and she said it was alright."

Ferb smiled and nodded. Adam then spoke up. "Phineas, I see you mentioned your mom in the third person when speaking to him, so I'm guessing you guys are related."

Ferb replied. "We're actually step-brothers. My dad married his mom when we were very young, then I became a brother to him and his older sister."

"Older sister?" Adam inquired.

"Yeah," Phineas spoke up. "She's away at boarding school, so sadly you may not be able to meet her for a while."

"Say, speaking of family, who do you have at your place, Adam?" Ferb asked.

"Just me and my dad," Adam answered.

"Oh, what happened to your mom?"

Phineas then nudged Ferb's shoulder, silently telling him that he would not have asked that, but nothing could stop Ferb's curiousness. Ferb then felt guilty when he noticed Adam's sad expression following that question.

"Adam, if you don't feel comfortable, then..."

"No, no," Adam interrupted. "It's nothing. My mother was never around for a while, but it's alright."

"I'm very sorry," Ferb spoke.

Adam sighed. "It's alright, dude. You would have found out anyway."

The bell rang, signaling the start of lunch. The two brothers talked with Adam as they walked through the hall towards the cafeteria. As they were in the lunch line, Ferb asked a very curious question.

"So, Adam, any other friends?"

Adam turned and spoke with a smile. "There's one, and her name is Cheyenne. I and her are inseparable. In fact, my dad and her dad are co-business owners, so both of our families moved here from Danville. She may be around here somewhere."

"Oh wow, really? How is she?"

"She's awesome. She's basically my best friend. We goof off all the time. She can be dull at times, but she's loyal, energetic, and insanely smart. I can be upset and she would always give me a shoulder to cry on. I love her so much and she's perhaps the closest person that I can call my own sister."

Phineas smiled and nodded. "That's really sweet." He then turned his head to where Isabella and the other girls were sitting at. The table consisted of Isabella herself, as well as her girlfriends: Ginger, Milly, Adyson, Katie, Holly, and of course, Gretchen.

But sitting next to Isabella was what caught Phineas' eye. A tan-skinned girl was laughing with Isabella while taking a gulp of her milk.

"Hey, who's that with Isabella," Phineas asked. Ferb and Adam turned to where Phineas was pointing at, and Adam smirked as he spoke.

"Oh, that girl is Cheyenne," He then raised an eyebrow, "you guys know Isabella?"

"Yeah, she's our neighbor and friend, as well as those other girls," Phineas answered.

"How come you know Isabella," Ferb asked.

"Cheyenne and I ran into her earlier today. I guess Cheyenne quickly made a friend."

"More like 7 of them," Ferb added. The boys grabbed their lunches and saw them at the table on the other side of the cafeteria.

After lunch, the rest of the day went smoothly. Cheyenne and Adam shared both Math and History together, and they were relieved to see one another. Cheyenne told Adam that she was heading to Isabella's house as her mother was okay with having her over for dinner, while Adam spoke that he will be at Isabella's friend's house for a group assignment.

Cheyenne spoke as she sat next to Adam, halfway working on her math sheet. "You know, Adam, I haven't seen you this happy in a long time, ever since, you know..."

Adam had his gaze down as a sad memory crept into his mind of what had occurred when he was just four years old. He never told Cheyenne specifically was happened, all that his parents divorced, but it wasn't the entire story. Adam was too heartbroken of what had occurred that night many years ago, the day his mother stepped out of the house.

Cheyenne always figured that Adam's mother just wasn't ready to be a mother, but was still caring towards Adam. She couldn't be more wrong. There's a moment of his life that Adam never shared with anyone.

The day his mother walked out of that door.

Meanwhile, the girls silently ate their lunch before Ginger spoke from across the table.

"So Cheyenne, any family member at home?"

"Just me, my mom, and my dad."

"Any other friends besides us," Holly asked.

"I have this other friend that is new here just like me. His dad and my dad are co-business owners and they run an antique business. My friend's name is Adam and we have been friends since we were in diapers."

"How is he," Katie inquired.

"Girls, he's amazing. He's the toughest individual I have ever met. Sure, he can be annoying at times, but he can always lighten my day, even if he's not very happy himself. He's smart and shockingly strong, and he also has a way with words. I may be an only child, but Adam is the closest thing to a brother that I could ever ask for. I love him so much."

The seven other girls made a synchronized 'aw' at Cheyenne's description of Adam before continuing on with their lunch. Cheyenne picked on her food before turning to her left. She saw sitting at a table on the far end of the cafeteria her best friend and two other boys.

She nudged Isabella's shoulder. "Isabella, look over there. That dark-skinned boy is Adam."

Isabella looked over and her eyes widened. "He's sitting with my other friends."

Cheyenne turned. "Oh yeah, I saw you with those boys outside the building this morning. Who are they?"

"That's Phineas, and that green-haired boy is his stepbrother Ferb. We hang out all the time as we're neighbors."

Cheyenne nodded in understanding. She watched as Adam ate and laughed with the two other boys and smiled. It was the first time she had seen Adam this happy since...that night.

She might as well keep her mouth shut and just continue chatting with the girls.

There, Adam made new friends, and so have Cheyenne. Who knows? Maybe Isabella and the other girls may put Cheyenne through hell as some sort of initiation to join the Fireside Girls. Just maybe...

Also, what's up with Adam? Why is he still upset about his mother leaving, and what exactly happened the night many years ago? That may be answered in the next chapter. It may also explain how Adam became so tough.
