Lysara's POV
Padme hadn't been kidding the Lake Country of Naboo was beautiful. At the moment we were approaching one of Padme's hiding spots to stay at. The boat pulled up to the pier and Anakin got out first. Being the gentlemen he was the Padawan helped Padme out of the boat first and then myself.
"Holy crap" I said eying the breathtaking view surrounding us.
"I knew you would like the Lake Country" Padme said as I continued admiring the beauty all around.
"Like it? Padme I love it" I corrected the senator.
"I agree it is beautiful" Anakin added. "You chose a good place to hide Padme"
"I have faith I will be safe here along with the two of you" Padme went on. "I must attend a meeting inside, I don't know how long it will be"
"Hope it goes well my friend"
Padme thanked me before heading inside. I walked to the other side of the pavilion that overlooked the water. Anakin decided to join me.
"This planet is different from I'm used to" Anakin stated.
I turned to him wondering what he had on his mind.
"I was born on a desert planet and everything there was sand, I don't like sand it's rough and irritating, it also gets everywhere"
"Sounds god awful"
"Believe me it is sometimes I wonder what ice and snow is like"
I chuckled.
"Ice and snow can also be irritating though at times it can be smooth and other times not so much"
"If I recall wolves like snow and ice"
"It depends on the wolf, I don't mind the cold but after awhile it can get annoying"
It was Anakin's turn to chuckle. I then decided to try something.
I summoned an shard of ice into my hand and then offered it out to the Padawan. He took the shard and let it rest in his palm. I wanted to see how long he could hold onto the piece of ice before he would tire of it.
"It's cold isn't it?" I asked him.
"Yes it is" he agreed. "But it's comforting"
The Padawan then decided to use the Force and he made the ice shard levitate in the air.
"Your gift with ice is extraordinary Lysara" he praised.
This time I couldn't help the blush that came to my face. I sent the ice shard away once he finished levitating it. Then both the Padawan and I looked at one another and a small smile came to his lips. Then slowly his face approached mine and then the next thing I knew his lips were on mine.
Now that's what I'm talking about! my wolf shouted excitedly.
Anakin's lips were smooth and I closed my eyes. As the kiss got a little deeper I wondered why this was happening when I barely knew the young Jedi. Was it a possibility he was my mate?
It was Anakin who pulled away and I was still speechless.
I was about to say something when Padme approached us. Anakin decided to go get some rest and he excused himself. My friend had a grin on her face. I had a feeling she was trying to get me some alone time with Anakin.
That's exactly what she's doing my wolf confirmed.
Next Day.
I swear Padme was one sneaky senator!
After breakfast she decided to let me and Anakin have the day off. Of course this made me and the Padawan protest but she reassured us she would be plenty guarded for today. So Anakin and I decided to explore the Lake Country of Naboo. After a hike we both decided to take a break in a field surrounded by waterfalls.
"What is it like being in your other form?" the Padawan asked.
"Freedom" was my answer. "I like to feel the ground underneath my paws and a lot of other things though every now and then I can get fleas and their bloody murder"
"No doubt" Anakin agreed. "Sometimes I wish I could have freedom from the Jedi"
He paused before continuing.
"We have a code attachments and possession is forbidden, compassion which I would define as unconditional love is essential to a Jedi's life, so you might say we are encouraged to love"
"I never liked the code to be honest" I confessed. "My kind form strong bonds with one another especially the mate bond between a pair"
"How strong is this mate bond?" Anakin wondered.
"Well I personally don't know because I haven't found my mate" I began. "But the mate bond between a wolf and their mate is stronger than a human marriage, I learned this from the stories my parents told me of their bond"
"How does one choose a mate?"
I felt my face blush.
"I guess only time can answer that question" I replied honestly.
Anakin decided to change the subject.
"If you were on Tatooine the heat would not doubt make you uncomfortable if you had to shift there"
The Padawan then smiled and I chuckled.
"Your making fun of me Jedi"
"No I would be too frightened to tease a wolf shifter"
Eventually we resumed our hike and the Padawan decide to be adventurous and tried to ride one of the animals nearby. He was doing well until he fell off and the animal wandered off.
"Oh shit" I swore before running to where Anakin was. He was on his back and when I turned him around the sneaky Jedi was laughing.
"Bastard" I scolded him before smacking his chest playfully.
He then grabbed me into his arms and the two of us rolled in the grass unable to contain our laughter.
Later.
Anakin and I ended up having dinner with Padme which was nice. However I knew she was up to something and my suspicions were confirmed when I found myself alone with Anakin in one of the dens and a fire was going. Things were awkward for a few minutes before Anakin finally spoke.
"The moment I met you Lysara it woke an unexplained attraction I have for you"
He sighed before continuing.
"I don't know what it is and I'm in agony not knowing, the closer I get to you the worse it gets, the thought of not being with you I can't breathe"
I honestly didn't know what to say.
I think he is our mate my inner wolf suggested.
But we haven't seen or felt any proof he is I reminded her.
In time perhaps we shall have proof
"Lysara if you are suffering as much as I am please tell me"
"I can't Anakin" I began. "What if you are not my mate and I were to return my feelings when another is fated to be mine?"
"I don't believe you have another male meant to be yours" Anakin countered.
"Even if you were my fated one Anakin you are studying to be a Jedi and us pursuing a relationship will ruin that for you"
"So you do feel something for me"
My silence was all he needed. He stood up and said.
"We could keep it a secret no one would need to know"
"Then we would be living a lie" I stated.
Anakin shot me a defeated look before he left.
