Chapter Four: Kitty... on Ice/The Phoenix's Offer
Here's the fourth chapter! Please tell me what you think about this chapter. Teasers are at the end of this chapter. Presenting, Kity...on Ice!
Kyle: -_-
Me: He he
The Professor was hooked up to a dozen machines in the medbay of the X-Mansion.
Dr Moira, who Kyle recognized from the Ethics class video, arrived at the mansion and she and Beast got to work to keep the Professor alive. Kurt had been severely injured with a twisted ankle, a broken rib, and various cuts and bruises.
"Thankfully, he's still alive." Dr Moira explained. "All of his internal organs are functioning properly, however, some of the epidermis parts of his skin have disintegrated. Unfortunately, he is currently in a coma."
"For how long?" Storm asked. Her face had four bandages and she had various bruises. It was the same for Scott. Logan had already healed since he had a healing factor. He stood in the doorway of the medbay.
"I'm not sure. Perhaps a few weeks, maybe a month." Moira answered.
Although Storm and Scott tried to prevent the news of the recent events, the information spread quickly around the Mansion that Professor X was at the brink of death. Storm and Scott had called all the mutants to inform them what actually happened, since false rumors had started to spread through the mansion. Kyle felt slightly guilty, since he had been snooping around the mansion and telling Bobby what he had discovered. Unfortunately, Bobby told Kitty, Kitty told Rogue, Rogue told Jubilee, Jubilee told Peter, Peter told his younger sister Illyana, Illyana told one of her friends. Soon an entirely different story had spread everywhere, which left Storm with no choice but to reveal what actually happened. Everyone learned that Jean was alive and that Professor X was dying. Children started panicking, so Storm sent everyone to their rooms.
Kyle felt like leaving his room, but didn't have the energy to. He laid on his bed worrying about the Professor. He opened his ethics notebook to read his notes. That's when he realized that his drawing of Kitty was missing. He checked all his books, his drawers, and his backpack. What if he had dropped it after the class the other day? Someone might have picked it up. Kyle groaned as he thought of a new rumor spreading the mansion-that Kitty had a secret admirer.
Kitty laid on her bed, studying the drawing of her. Her mind wasn't on the image. She was thinking about the Professor. Tears filled Kitty's eyes as she tossed the drawing of her onto the nightstand and laid on her side. She had known Professor X for a long time. What if he died? He was basically dead already.
A knock was heard on her door. Kitty quickly wiped away her tears.
"Come in," Kitty said quietly. She expected to see Kyle, but Bobby entered the room. Bobby glanced at her, realizing that she had been crying. He quietly closed the door and sat the the edge of her bed.
"Kitty?" Booby said.
"Bobby." Kitty answered.
"You okay?" Bobby asked.
"Uh-yeah," Kitty said, sitting up. "Actually it's just that...Xavier came to my house. He was the one who convinced me to come here."
"Yeah, me too." Bobby answered. "we're all feeling the same way, you know?"
"No, it's not. It's just that you and Kyle, and there's Rogue-" Kitty noticed that Bobby's face fell a little. "I just miss home. The first snow and all of that." She lied. Kitty wasn't concerned about her home and family. When Bobby turned to look at her skates in the corner, She quickly hid the drawing Kyle made under her pillow.
"Kitty, get up." Bobby suddenly said, switching the subject as he stood up. "Come with me."
"Storm told us to stay in our rooms." Kitty protested.
"Don't worry, we won't get caught." Bobby answered. "I mean, you can walk through walls." Kitty grinned.
Bobby and Kitty left the mansion outside to the large water fountain.
"This place can be home too." Bobby said. He placed a finger in the water, and it slowly froze and solidified.
The two teens sat at the edge of the fountain. Kitty buckled her skates on While Bobby used his ice powers to create literal ice skates. Once they were ready, they both grinned at each other before entering the ice skating fountain. Then they skated for a couple minutes. They had a lot of fun skating around the ice pond. Bobby grabbed her hand as they skated together. As they rounded the corner, Kitty nearly lost her balance while they were spinning. Bobby grabbed her and the two held on to each other before realizing how close they were. Kitty stared into his eyes before brushing a strand of hair from her face behind her ear.
"Thank you for this, Bobby." Kitty said. They stared into each other's eyes before awkwardly skating away and retreating to the mansion. Kyle however, stood at the window of the balcony he was at. He had seen everything. Sadness, Envy, and Anger were the only ways to describe the way Kyle felt. Kyle had been holding back his feelings for Kitty for long, and now she was in love with Bobby. Kyle knew he had no right to be jealous of Bobby and Kitty. Kitty wasn't Kyle's was another thing. Bobby already had Rogue for a girlfriend! How dare Bobby cheat on Rogue for Kitty!
Rogue was also looking out the window and had seen what happened. Tears filled her eyes as she tore away from the window. She packed a purse with some of her belongings and changed into going-out clothes and put on a green jacket. She marched down the hallway to the front door of the mansion went Logan stepped out into the hall.
"Do you need a lift?" Logan asked to Rogue's surprise.
"No." Rogue quickly answered.
"Where are you going?"
"You don't know what it's like to be afraid of your powers." Rogue sighed.
"Actually I do," Logan answered.
"I-I want to be able to touch people. To feel a hug, a handshake, or a kiss." Rogue responded.
Logan realized that she wanted to take the cure. "You're not doing this just for some boy-"
Rogue stayed silent.
"Look, if you want to go, you can go, as long as you're sure that it's what you want." Logan advised.
"Shouldn't you be telling me to stay and to go upstairs and unpack?" Rogue asked.
"I'm not your father," Logan corrected. "I'm your friend. Just think about what I said, Rogue."
"Marie," Rogue corrected.
"Marie." Logan confirmed. He walked down the hallway and Rogue left the mansion.
"So she killed him? Just like that?" Pyro asked. Pyro aka John Allerdyce who had joined Magneto after the events of Alkali Lake, stood before him after Magneto returned from the Grey house.
"She didn't kill him. She overpowered him. They overpowered him." Magneto corrected.
"Why would she do that?" Pyro asked.
"Charles Xavier wanted to control Jean's power. The Phoenix Force did not want that."
Callisto burst into the room. "I picked something up. An electromagnetic force. It's massive. It's-"
"It's Jean." Magneto gasped.
"Wait, Jean Grey- the Phoenix Force is coming here?" Pyro exclaimed.
Magneto turned to face Pyro. "Don't do anything stupid." Then he turned to Callisto. "Bring her in."
Jean entered the room. She looked mentally distressed as if she was possessed by some dark force (which she was).
"Hello, Jean," Magneto said. "How are you feeling?"
"How do you control it?" Jean demanded.
"Pardon?"
"Your powers." Jean corrected.
"My powers are nothing compared to yours-"
"You said that the Professor wants to control me. Is that true?" Jean asked a second question with waiting for an answer for the first.
"Not you. The Phoenix." Magneto lied.
Jean's eyes went dark as the Phoenix took over. "I can't be controlled." The Phoenix shouted from Jean's mouth. Pyro leapt back in surprise.
"Am I speaking to Jean or the Phoenix?" Magneto asked dryly.
"You're speaking to US." The Phoenix replied. "And you lie."
"Oh, he might not want to control you," Magneto reworded. "He said he wants to help you. He 'helped' you as the young girl by putting mental blocks in your mind so you wouldn't know that you were destined to have the power of the Phoenix. His way of helping seemed like he was controlling you in a way."
"Well maybe I needed him to control me because I can't control this power!" Jean said. The veins in her skin glowed orange for a second before fading away.
Magneto continued, "Xavier erased your memories of the visions you'd get from the Phoenix by blocking the memories from your mind. Hypocrisy! Don't you remember what he used to say? 'Sometimes the mind needs to discover things for itself?"
Jean stayed quiet. A metal cup floated towards Magneto.
"I can manipulate the metal in this," Magneto continued, changing the subject. "But you can manipulate anything. And with the power of the Phoenix, you can turn it into anything you think of.
Jean took control of the metal cup. Her eyes turned black and the Phoenix shattered the cup into thousands of tiny pieces. The pieces gathered into an orb shape and turned into green energy.
Magneto and Pyro took a few steps back. The orb glowed and released waves of radioactive energy towards the other Brotherhood members.
"Jean, enough." Magneto said.
The energy did not cease.
"Who are you speaking to?" The Phoenix asked. The green energy began to harm the Brotherhood.
"ENOUGH!" Magneto shouted in fear.
The energy disappeared.
Jean glared at him. "You sound just like Xavier."
"Jean," Magneto continued. "He wanted to hold you back."
"What do you want?" The Phoenix and Jean asked.
"I want you to be who you are, without any control from anyone." Magneto told Jean.
"Including me?" The Phoenix asked menacingly.
"Except you," Magneto quickly responded to the Phoenix Force. "I couldn't stop you even if I tried. You know that mutant cure? It was intended for us, including Jean."
The Phoenix stayed quiet.
"If we mutants want freedom, we must fight for it. But we can't do it alone." Magneto said.
"You want us to help you." Jean realized.
"I will help you control your powers the right way, If you help me get rid of the cure." Magneto said. "Men are evil, and think they are the center of the universe. They want to get rid of us just because we are better than them. The mutant race just started. It can't end now. With you on our side, and not Xavier's, we can stop that from happening. Jean won't last forever. You will need a new host one day, and mutants are a good choice since they can harness your power better. But with no mutants...no hosts. So what do you say?" Magneto asked with a sinister grin on his face. The Phoenix pondered the offer.
I originally was going to add the kiss scene of Bobby and Kitty to this story. The kiss scene was glady cut from the movie, because the directors thought it seemed creepy. Kyle however, thinks that Kitty and Bobby kissed. Rogue is going to Alcatraz. I found a way to include Jean with Magneto and the Brotherhood. Jean is ashamed for attacking her comrades and doesn't trust Professor X anymore, so she goes to Magneto for help. The Phoenix takes control, and Magneto makes a deal with the Phoenix. In the movie, Jean had no place with Magneto at Alcatraz Island. She literally did nothing until the guards shot darts on her, so she had a mental breakdown and made the environment go whack. So Wolverine stabs her and she dies. It was pretty lame. In the comics, Logan had to kill Jean and the Phoenix about seven times since the Phoenix resurrected Jean each time. By the seventh time, the Phoenix was weakened and Jean finally died. "Y
Here's your teasers:
"You just got here. Who do you think you are to come here and try to take the school down?"
"Your girlfriend. I figured she'd want the cure. She's pathetic."
"GET DOWN!"
