Slipping by unnoticed, the cult member with his red satin cloak. A dragon painted on the back of it walked through a nearby town looking for a place that might be able to tell him and his group anything about the dragon slayer they were looking for.
"Can't find anything. Damn it" he cursed to himself under his breath, but nobody cared enough to pay attention to what he was saying. "That blonde, she gave me a strange look. Could that be the one that our boss spoke of" he wondered as he thought back to before him and his selected group left for Magnolia while others went to other regions that his leader said " If I remember correctly, there was a blonde with him that day with the child. I believe that is who is known as Lucy Dragneel. If you see her, do not approach. It is our goal to eliminate them together." "Well I think I just found the blonde" he thought cleverly walking into a bar where the rest of his group was waiting.
Sitting at a table at the back , with their hoods up, they crowded in together and whispered, "did you find anything?" "Did anyone see you?" " Where is he hiding?" Quietly he said " I think I may have found the blonde but no such luck for finding the dragon slayer"
"Damn it" his companion muttered slamming her fist on the table. "Don't lose your cool Monaghan" one of them said.
"How hard it can be to find a place called Fairytail!" her voice lifted enough making the bar guests turn their heads. "You looking for Fairytail?" a drunken, pleasing voice asked. "Well I happen to be a member."
"Oh" Monaghan turned her head interested smirking at her team. " I got this gentlemen. Just watch" she whispered confident. Rising out of her chair, she took off her cape revealing a skin tight red velvet top with leather pants grabbing the attention of the other men in the bar.
Slinking over to the man, she casually asked " what's your name?" Burping the man said "excusse me..and my name is Macao…and what is yourssss pretty lady?" Faking a laugh, she looked at him alluring running her fingers up his shoulders.
"Oh it's such an ugly name, I couldn't bare it if a handsome man knew it" "Oh come on, a hot woman like you, bet you hhhavve a bbeautiful nname to go with it" he attempted to get up but fell on his face making her laugh. Getting him back into the chair , she charismatically looked into his eyes while he slipped deeper into a drunken state.
"Where is FairyTail then?" "Oh, it's in Magnolia!. You can't miss ittttt.. Iff you nneeed hhhelpp don't worry, just look for this symbol" he turned to the right and showed her his emblem.
Running her hand smoothly across it, in a silky voice she said "and Natsu Dragneel..where is he?" "Natsssssuu, he'sss off on a job but his house is just beyond the woodsss"
"Thank you" she said appreciative giving a wicked smile as she discreetly pulled a tiny vile out of her pants and poured a drop into his drink then walked away back to her group leaving Macoa swooning. "Nicely done" her partner complimented.
"Thank you Shaw. I slipped a little something into his drink so he won't even remember my face but he will have to live with the fact he sold his friends out when we slaughter them" " Let's move, we have the information we came for. Let's head back to the meeting spot and tell the boss" he ordered as the others and Monaghan with her cloak back on walked out keeping their faces hidden.
Taking a nap, Lucy and Happy woke up when a run over bumped the carriage causing them to jolt. "Well that was a nice little nap. Did you get any too Happy?" she asked sweetly.
"Aye. And look, we're here" he announced highly pleased. Looking out, they both smiled as the station came into view. Getting out, Lucy gave the driver their money and let them.
Turning towards the hotel , she enthustically yelled "let's go Happy!" "AYE" Lifting her, they flew to the hotel. Getting there fast, she ran towards the room they were in and threw open the door.
"NATSU!" she screamed happily running at him as he held his arms out for her. Catching her, he lifted her up and spun her around a couple times before touching her back down.
"I missed you so much Lucy" he said muffled as she hugged his neck forcing his head down.
"I missed you too..hey what's up?" "I cant breath baby" "Oh sorry" she apologized quickly letting go. "It's alright" he said with a grin. Erza and Gray standing nearby gave a nod to her.
"He's right Lucy. Pyro over here was miserable while you and Nashi were gone" Lucy chuckled gazing at Natsu. "Ahh, shut it Gray. I missed my girls. Nothing wrong with that" "I never said there was" he answered with a soft smile. "We know how much Lucy and Nashi mean to you"
"I hate to break this up but Lucy, did master Makarov by chance say anything to you about us taking this mission" she asked empathetically. "We should sit down first" she answered.
Listening , they all went and took a seat on opposite sides of the couch. Leaning up against Natsu, in a clear, straight voice said " funny you mention that because before Happy and I left, when I told him about it, he said Fairy Tail had just received a request from a nearby village asking for a team of wizards. Whether it's the same one we aren't sure, but the timing of this can't be a coincidence."
"Did he say anything on what we should do?" "Yes, he said we should go ahead and check it out since all of us are here anyway but if it's too much for our team then to come back"
"Oh psh, please it's a team of bandits. A couple of ice and flame attacks, and we'll have this in the bag" Natsu boasted confidently. "Gotta agree with Natsu on this one" said Gray reaching as he high fived Natsu.
"Now both of you know we should never underestimate our opponent. We've learned that lesson over the years or need I remind of you of the Oracion Seis." Erza said factually. "No ma'am" they all replied in unison.
"Good, now that we've got that covered, for our plan tomorrow, whether it's a group of six or even 12, we will act with caution..and without charging blindly…" she said sternly narrowing her eyes at Natsu.
"What's with that look Erza?. Damn" "Because out of all of us here, your still idiotic enough to charge in without thinking and get you or one of us hurt and I dare you to tell me that I am wrong" she sniped challenging him. With a gulp, he grabbed the collar of his shirt, "Nope, nope I um..I think I'm good. Thanks"
"That's what I thought, look as long we don't charge, we can gage the threat when we get there. There's almost nothing as strong as your bond attack Natsu and Lucy so we have that to our advantage"
Losing the fear, his face grew serious as Natsu said " Nothing will beat that. The connection that Lucy and I have with our attack is powerful so that should be our last step" "Noted, good idea Natsu"
"So basically, we get there and, sense them out and then let em have it. Am I leaving anything out?" he said feeling very skeptical. "Yes Gray and don't worry. I can hear the worry in your voice but all of us plus Lucy. We should be fine"
"I believe ya Erza" "Alright guys, let's get some sleep. Come daybreak, we are heading out" "Aye" they all said in unison as they each went to their hotel rooms.
Slipping into the bed, Natsu wrapped his arms around Lucy and hugged her close while she put her arms around his. Intoxicated by her sunflower smell from her shower, he buried his nose into her hair. "You smell amazing Luce"
"I know you like the smell. If we weren't in this room right now next to stripper, I would take you right now" he said longing as Lucy felt his member rub against her making her moan as they went up and down in a fluid motion with each other for a few minutes until they heard a small knock against the wall stopping them.
"I think Gray heard us" whispered Lucy giggling. "Stupid thin walls" cursed Natsu.
"Don't worry Natsu, we will be home soon..then we can have as much fun as you want"
Raising his eyebrows, he purred at her. "I'm going to hold you to that baby" he promised kissing up her arm. "Don't' forget I'm here too" interrupted Happy.
Immediately Natsu stopped kissing and looked at her. "Well moment's gone." "Yep" she replied disappointed. Rolling over to his side, Natsu said "goodnight Lucy" "Goodnight Natsu" His heart sped up some hearing the softness in her voice as they closed their eyes.
The next day, after checking out of the hotel, they were on a train on their way. "Wait, Erza. I just thought about something. Do we even know where we are going? I mean I don't remember the head mentioning the name of the town that is being attacked. Lucy, did gramps say what the name was?"
"No Gray.. he didn't unfortunately" "Relax you two, there's not too many villages away from here so it narrows it down" assured Erza. "Hmm..just hope we aren't too late in stopping another attack. Poor people" she looked down pessimistic.
"Cheer up Lucy. , hey I could always wake up Natsu" teased Gray. Looking over at Natsu, she lightly shook her head. "No Gray. Leave him be, those carriage rides were enough for him. Thanks Erza for taking care of that" "No problem" Erza said pounding a fist into her palm.
"Sometime she's a little too pleased at knocking Natsu out" thought Gray and Lucy. Arriving at Magnolia, they hopped off as Happy shook Natsu awake who ran off as fast he could off the train. "Tch, you were asleep the whole time you wuss. Why you making such a fuss" Before Natsu could respond, Erza stepped between them giving them a look getting them focused. "Not now guys, save your fighting for the enemy"
"I've got enough power to beat this ice head and then some" "He's just lucky I didn't try to burn his cold ass" they both thought as they gave each other a snide look as they walked on opposite sides of Erza. "Dang Lucy, do you see the looks they are giving each other?" Happy whispered into Lucy's ear.
"Oh yeah, kinda hard to miss that" she whispered exasperated. "I understand why they did it. Whether at the guild or a job, they always like to make sure they are still strong., their way of keeping each other calm ..that and just to annoy the hell out of each other. .but now isn't the moment or time to have our heads focused on that" Erza said to herself as she noticed they were out past the train station and walking towards a village.
"First stop is the charm right Erza" Gray remarked trying to make light of the situation. Determined she said " If this is it, all of you get ready. Understood?" "Yes ma'am" they all answered getting themselves mentally ready. Walking through the village, their faces angered seeing houses torn down and others with pieces blown off.
"What kind of bandits are these people?" Lucy asked, her fury growing inside when she saw a child running to a house with a door that was barely hanging on and the windows were smashed. The child's parent looked like they wanted to break into tears but put a smile to their face when their son ran through the door.
Backing himself up to walk next to her, Natsu grabbed her hand and held it tight.
"Easy baby..easy" he coaxed comfortingly. "It'sj just….horrible.." it hurt him seeing her so upset. He squeezed her hand again hoping to get her to look up and unclench her jaw. "We'll make them pay Lucy, I swear"
"Your damn right" she muttered coldly as he had them stop moving. As she looked up, he saw the sincerity in her eyes, the coldness. " We will…come on" he said softly hoping to ease some of the anger she felt and let out a small breath of relief when he felt her grip relaxing.
They caught up to Erza , Gray and Happy when they saw a woman come running towards them. Out of breath, she put her hands on her knees letting out a few breathes before standing back up.
"Fairytail!..wait…aren't there more of you? She asked confusing them. "Wasss, there supposed to be more?" asked Erza. " Nnno..I just thought there would be more then just four of you" "I promise you we are more then we look. Don't underestimate us" Gray boasted unwavering in his voice and face.
"This the right village then? You never gave a name in your flier" Lucy said factually. "Yes ma'am. And sorry about that. We don't have a name; we just call it home" the lady answered melancholy crossing her arms. "or least what's left of it".
"I am very sorry for that ma'am but can you please tell us what kind of bandits attacked you?" " Erza asked. Putting a hand over her heart, the woman said " I appreciate the compassion. Thank you very much miss. As for the bandits, they have powerful magic."" She shuttered with fear.
"Don't worry lady. Those bandit's are as good as ashes. Nobody messes with Fairy Tail" Flaming up his hand, Natsu gave the woman a wide, goofy confident smile. "Thank you" she started when a bolt of lightening pierced the sky.
"What the hell was that? .there's no rain" Gray questioned looking at the others but they looked at woman who face was frozen in terror. "It's them!" she yelled. Running over to her and putting a comforting hand on the woman, Lucy said "Go home, stay there until it's safe. I promise after today your village will be safe"
Pushing her gently, the woman ran crying "thank you, thank you" Rejoining the group, they all got into position as Erza commanded "everyone, get ready" They all narrowed their eyes at the group walking towards them.
A group of 5 men, all about the same height with shaved heads. They all looked to the middle one with electricity crackling through his left hand. With a sneer, he said "who are you" "Fairy Tail…who are you?" Erza hard questioned but remained very wary keeping a hand on her sword.
"We.." the man said as he raised his arms up. "are bandits looking for a good time" "Sorry, but that ends here" "Says you?" "Yes" whipping her head around to the others, she yelled "ATTACK NOW!" "Star dress Capricorn!" Lucy yelled as she shifted into her spirit dress and went for a frontal assault.
Gray watched as one of them gathered black lightning and went aim for Lucy. "LUCY, WATCH IT" he shouted throwing up an ice shield between them just in time.
"Thanks Gray" Giving a nice nod , he gathered an ice ball in his hands. "If lightning is all these guys have, this is nothing. Laxus has more than these morons" "FIRE DRAGON TALON!" They heard Natsu booming as they saw one of the guys hit the ground hard.
"I agree Gray. These guys are wimps compared to him." They all regathered and looked at the leader unafraid. "You ready to admit you idiots screwed up and face justice for what you've done?" Erza snapped at them knowing what their answer would be. The leader just smiled.
Gathering his group, they made the team's hairs stand on end when they sensed the magic power. "Didn't expect that." "Me either" Lucy said cautiously. On edge, they didn't move when the bandits all got lightening in their hands and shot it to the sky. " I..don't think that's good!" yelled Happy.
"EVERYONE DUCK!" Erza ordered requipping into her lightening armor as the others hit the ground trying to avoid the continuous lightning strikes.
"This is how they've been doing it. These bastards have been using a group lightening attack to scare away people" Natsu figured out telling them. Directing what lightening she could with her armor, the bandits stood there continuing to smile angering her more.
"LUCY, NATSU! IT'S TIME!" Understanding, they came out from their hiding places. Staying down avoiding the lightning, Happy and Gray smiled knowing what was coming. The bandits started laughing, Natsu and Lucy were not.
Standing beside each other they held each other's hand and began to glow causing the bandits to stop laughing. Nervous, the gang members cocked their heads while some of their group darted their eyes looking for a way out.
"You think your scared now….wait till you see our next trick" he said with a broad smile. Together, they began to glow as magic power rose all around them. The ground began to shake causing everyone who was still standing to fall. Petrified, the bandit's didn't know what to do but watch. Pointing their hands out, they felt completely as one. "Let's do this" said Lucy. Light shot from them as they stared intently at the bandits shouting "CELESTIAL FIRE! Their intent and determination was felt through the fire. Blasting out color, fire hit the bandits straight on knocking them all to the ground. Scrambling, they eyed Erza and the others walking up to them.
"Are you guys done?" she asked with her hands on her sides. With a frantic nod from them, she looked to Natsu and Lucy giving them a signal to stop. Releasing their hands, the fire disappeared instantly putting the bandits at ease until they saw the groups faces.
Stomping up to them, Natsu grabbed the leader by the collar of his shirt and hoisted him off the ground. "Your going to stop what your doing and leave these villages alone. If you don't. I'll find your group and burn every single one of you to ashes" Panicking, he tried to look for any sign of deceit or fear on Natsu's face but all he found was hostility and that Natsu meant every word. "Yy..yes ssir.." he cried.
Dropping him to the ground, Natsu said "go"
Without a second to spare, all the bandits got up and ran out of the village muttering about the team on their way out. "Could you have lowered it a notch Natsu? Jeeze?" A few hairs stood on the back of Gray's neck when he saw Natsu's face.
"Damn. What the hell's this coldness I'm getting from him" he thought watching Natsu go by him without so much as a word.
"Natsu?. You alright?" Erza asked carefully. He continued to walk until he reached Lucy and Happy. " You guys did it Natsu!.. hey, you alright?" He took the words right out of Lucy's mouth.
"He can relax fight is over" They remained in place waiting to see what his next move would be. Rubbing his face, Natsu let out a sigh. "I'm fine guys" he rubbed Happy's head and grinning turned towards Erza and Gray.
"Really guys, I'm good. I just got." "Angry?" " hostile? "I was going to say over annoyed" he finished slight perturbed. "But I'm good, Lucy, do you believe me?" Looking into his eyes, she smiled.
"There's nothing bad there guys, he's fine. I swear. Knowing Lucy wouldn't lie about that, they let it go. Giving a light smack on Natsu's back, Gray put his shirt back on. "So let's go get the reward eh guys?" "YES!" everyone cheered raising their hands in victory.
"Soon…Dragneel's soon" a cult member who had been looking for more reason to get rid of Natsu heard the commotion and had hid in a bush through everything. Having gotten what he needed, he kept his head down and wandered back through the woods.
