Izuku age: 5

At the Midoriya house (backyard)

Previously, Inko had no motivation to improve her quirk as she just used it to make her life a smidge easier. That all changed when her son developed an advanced form of telekinesis, pyrokinesis, and had only her as a guide for controlling his flames. This inspired her to utilize her quirk in a more complex manner in order to have an analogous method for training Izuku. While not able to control flames like her son, she had found suitable substitutes.

Initially she could only pull objects in a straight line, but after a month of training she had access to a full, though sloppy, 360° range of movement. The only issue remaining being the movement was still linear and rigid. To resolve this she began her quirk training 2.0 where she now focuses on pulling in multiple directions.

Like all things there was a learning curve, the one she decided to work on would focus on the mental imaging of different flexible materials and constructs. Starting with the most rigid of the bunch, plastic, the goal will be the same for all of the objects to bend into a C shape and stop before it snaps or looks like a .

The reasoning for this was that if she could pull two ends of the material in one direction while pulling the center away she could begin to bend objects. She had this idea while eating some ice-cream and watching The Matrix, and saw a kid bend a spoon. At first she laughed, "That's so cliche!" Thinking it can't be that simple, the thought stayed with her as she began to stare at her own spoon, and with a little bit of focus and a tight grip the spoon had begun to bend.

Though holding the end became too difficult for her and the spoon went flying out of the living room, so after much thought she figured what her new steps would be. As it stands she can bend plastic both rigid and soft with grace and control, her next task was cords, she trained by untangling a bunch of cords from both ends without her hands. After that she trained in precision by spelling words out using a chain of steel beads, mid air, this is where she found the most difficulty to master since it relied on the previous steps being meshed together: having to anchor the ends of each letter, focus on multiple points of each letter, while shaping the beads fluidly.

Approaching the peak of her learning curve meant that she was struggling the most but once mastered she would have what it takes to control her main target, water. While being the antithesis of fire, the medium would allow her to train him to move and shape things fluidly in 3D space. But for now she felt she deserved a break. After washing up she went to her computer, and to her great pleasure saw her target was active.

Deciding to video call her long time best friend Mitsuki Bakugou, had been a common occurrence over the years since they moved, they would update each other on their lives, send pictures of their little angel's, or demon if you asked the Bakugou's, or just chat as they often did back in Japan

After a short recap of her training Mitsuki was dazed to say the least. "Wow so you've leveled up that much?! The last time we spoke you had just got the hang of moving things in 360° movement, now you're the ONE from the matrix!" She laughed at the idea behind her epiphany.

"I'd hardly call it progress, I can bend somewhat firm materials, you could do it with your hands no quirk required!" She half joked knowing that there was nothing that could get in her friend's way, "I just really want my kid to succeed, he tries so hard but the complexity of his quirk means no one can really teach him properly," Inko reminiscing about her own shortcomings growing up "so I feel I have to step up my training to be able to close that gap at least a bit. You get me?"

While Mitsuki could understand the problem with fused quirks her son just developed his own last year. "Well I definitely understand the pressure you're under, Katsuki's quirk works way differently than either of ours since it's a reaction between both our glycerine sweat and ignition quirks, causing miniature explosions every now and again." The mother on the mainland explained, "but I can't relate to him being helpless, his quirk is simple, and he finds strength in simplicity. If he can't punch with the strength of All Might he'll find his way around it." She said somewhat pridefully about her knuckleheaded brat.

"I definitely am not one to teach, but my kid he's some sort of genius, if he can't do something he'll just practice till he gets it, do you know how many instruments he's learned just to be able to laugh at the kids who compete in competitions and all to be justified in his mind because he puts the effort in. Maybe Izuku, and frankly you, needs a distraction, maybe a hobby or some sort of competition to make him want to improve faster? Just like when we played volleyball and we practiced so we could be regulars." Mitsuki seemed really sure in her response since it seemed to do wonders for herself and Inko.

As she laid out ideas for self betterment a lightbulb switched in Inko's head, "I think you're onto something." She began and Mitsuki added, "Of course I am, I always know to do what's best for my friends, but, what am I onto exactly, I said a lot of stuff?" The blonde mother said sheepishly

"I think Izuku needs more peers, people he can compete with, people he can grow with, as it stands he has one friend, Melisa and she's currently the closest one to his age on the island until we get more scientists to bring their families, as it stands he is the only quirk user of his age group here. Maybe we could introduce them more formally than just passing glances from a webcam."

Mitsuki seemed to ponder this thought for a second, "Hmmm… well the brat could use some other outlet, especially, since he's deemed everyone else around him inferior; although, he does seem to push people aside if he sees no value in them, and if there is value, he then proceeds to challenge them and screams bloody murder. Hmmmm… I don't know about this Inko, Do you think it will be good for them?"

"My son, may not be the epitome of charisma like Katsuki, but he does have drive and loves to push himself, even if he can't be a challenge to him, Izuku can definitely handle all the chaos your son is." Inko smirked as she teased her friend about her son. "How about this summer Izuku and I stay over at your place so they can get better acquainted? This way we can get together and have Izuku get used to Japan and the area since he hasn't been there yet." Inko proposed her ideas for sight seeing and games they can play together.

A week later

In the testing grounds, Izuku sat cross legged encircled by unlit torches. 'Twelve o'clock to three.' he stated mentally as he took in a deep breath, releasing he watched as a small green flame extended to the torch in front of him. He then closed his eyes and began to focus on his flame. The image of the fire bright in his mind, he began to envision it moving clockwise once it was out of his 'peripherals' he opened his eyes. The flame no longer at its original position he turned to his right.

To his dismay the flame was not on the torch to his right, it was burning out on the concrete wall adding another scorch mark to the wall of shame. Frustrated he turned to his journal, "Notes for being a Hero Vol. 2", his parents had suggested he keep notes for any discoveries he makes while exploring his quirk, his mom taught him how to write neater and keep organized notes and his father taught him to ask better questions that lead him to possible answers he could test. His first notebook was rather inefficient as he still had poor handwriting and would go on long tangents about his dreams of being a hero.

Back then they spent many days workshopping and debating a possible hero name for him and a name for his quirk. He was very partial to All-Mighty Medic and Super Fire, at the time, his Mom felt something along the lines of Bunny Doctor, due to him being her little bunny, and Healing flame, his Dad eventually won everyone over with, Emerald Phoenix and Emerald Embers/Healing Flame, the research team and even All Might agreed with the name and quirk.

As he jotted down his findings he began to mumble on about how he can improve his spatial awareness, apply it to his practice. Too absorbed in his thoughts he failed to notice the new presence on the field. His musing were cut short by the sudden pain of a folded paper hitting his head. "Oww. What was that for Mellisa?" he cried out in annoyance not needing to see who the intruder was as this was her weapon of choice when it came to getting his attention.

"Hehe… well you were saying you need to work on your spatial awareness." she chuckled devilishly. "Anyway the Super-hero Museum's Super Hero Billboard watch party will begin soon, and I know you will hate yourself if you miss seeing Uncle Might place Top Hero, for the what feels like the 30th time,"

"22th time," Izuku interjected, taking a sigh Melisa let him proceed "he's topped the leaderboard ever since his return from the U.S.A. After his initial debut in japan 26 years ago he quickly made his way onto the top 10 in his first year of being a Japanese Pro-Hero the next year he became the Top Hero and has continued to do so to this day. I have no doubt All Might will top the charts again, but the interesting part comes from the changes to the other ranks. Like the formation of new Hero Teams, introductions to new up and comers and any scandals that lead to a drop in rank. These changes have an impact to strategies, alliances, and rivalries in the Hero world, I want to witness it all and use that experience to make it in the Hero world."

"You finished? The screening will end if we don't get there before your next speech." said Melisa exhausted as she headed for the exit. Following behind Izuku grabbed his jacket and sprinted past her, "RACE YA!" he proclaimed turning the street corner, with another sigh she shook her head and began sprinting hoping her longer legs made up for his childish headstart. "Your on!"

Back at the mainland, the Bakugou's were prepping for their own little watch party. Mitsuki and Katsuki were arguing about how Katsuki had done a poor job arranging the table and seating in the living room, while Masaru, wearing comically large ear muffs, began to work on fixing the arrangements so the fighting would stop.

Having ended the fight with her son, after some ear and cheek pulling, Mitsuki sent him to get the mail, with a knowing smirk. Upon his return the calm of the house was once again disrupted, "Maaaa! There was a huuuge robot outside! It scanned my face and said this was for me!" Withholding her laughs she snatched the letter from him and scanned it over.

To: Katsuki Bakugou

From: Izuku Midoriya

She took the letter opener and sliced along the side of the envelope quickly examined it and gave it to her son. " This letter is from the son of my best friend, Inko Midoriya, they're living very far away, and he doesn't have many kids his own age, and even fewer with quirks."

Processing that information, Katsuki began reading the letter, he was astounded by the hand writing as it was better than his, it clearly wasn't written by an adult, evident by the large font and many erase marks around his rambling.

(Hello Katsuki, I am Izuku, I heard you were my age, or at least in the same year as me. Our parents are supposed to be great friends, and they hope we can get along too. I honestly don't know much about you, and would like to know a few things, like What interests you, Do you want to be a Hero, What quirk do you have, Who is your favorite Hero. Mines All Might, I even met him once.

P.S. My mom told me to tell you more about my Quirk, Emerald Embers, my dad came up with the name, It is a combination quirk like yours. It gives me fire breathing like my dad and a form of telekinesis, Pyrokinesis, so I'm able to control the fire I breathe. But there was this one time me and my friend got hurt and I was able to heal us using both of the powers at the same time. We still don't know how Telekinesis + Fire Breathing = Healing but it worked.)

After reading through the letter a small spark went off and singed the paper, "Ma, can we go meet them this Izuku Kid sounds like he could be a challenge?" Mitsuki thought it over and decided to tell him the truth of the matter, "Well no, we can't visit them, Inko's Husband is a lead scientist on I-Island, the Mobile Island for the best of the best support tech research and inventors, And they live there. The location of the island is unknown and constantly changing."

Looking downtrodden Katsuki was about to play off wanting to see him as if it were nothing, but his mother beat him. "That being said, He and his mom will be visiting Japan soon. And we will be hosting them for the summer before you start school." seeing the smile return to his face he ran to the living room and sat down at the newly arranged seats to watch the billboard rankings.

(At the Todoroki household)

Rei Todoroki was watering both her snow white and blood red amaryllis. Recently due to cross pollination she found various red and white versions of the flower. One matching the even split her youngest son had inherited. While she was still full of grief and anger towards her husband's actions and the loss of their eldest, she noticed a distinct difference in his treatment of Shoto. Devoting his full attention to his "pride and joy" he made sure to keep in mind his condition while still pushing him to his limits. Her gardening was interrupted as a large drone arrived a few feet from the gate. It simply carried a package and called for a member of the Todoroki family to retrieve the package. Seeing as it was in walking distance she made her way over to the drone.

As the drone scanned her face a robotic voice said this package was for either head of the household and Shoto Todoroki, further examining the package she found the sender, Shin and Izuku Midoriya, from I-Island. Since her husband was away in Hosu she decided to call in Shoto and open it with him.

Pulling her son away from his training they sat in the living room, examining the rather light box. Excited by the thought of it being a gift Shoto energetically poked at it trying to see what someone would send them. Edged on by her son's curiosity Rei opened the package only to find two envelopes one obviously written by a child, the other by what seemed to be their parent. The former was addressed to Shoto; while the latter was directed to either Enji or Rei Todoroki. Seeing as they fit the description she handed the letter to her son and began to read her own.

(Greetings,

This is Shin Midoriya, one of the lead researchers on I-island. I write to you hoping for some aid, my son recently manifested his quirk, we call it Emerald Embers/Healing Flame, it is a perfect blend of my wife's and my Quirks. She is Telekinetic and I am able to produce and "breathe" fire. In the tests conducted to see what his quirk was we discovered he had the organs used to breath fire and the telekinetic mutation in his brain, further testing showed he could breathe a green flame that was warm to the touch but not much hotter than hot breath, and could move things telekinetically, however it seems his abilities are more fire based as he can control flames around him and the flames he breathes. The big shocker was that the main ability of his quirk was a healing flame allowing him to expend his own energy to produce a green light that would heal himself and others nearby. We know that Endeavor is busy making his way to the top of the Hero leaderboards, while training his son, who is a perfect blend of your quirks. So we ask you, Enji and Rei Todoroki to consider letting my wife and son to visit you this summer in Musutafu as they will be visiting family-friends in the same region. Maybe our sons can train together or see what its like to be around other quirked kids his age. I feel that my son can prove to be useful to Shoto's training if only as a sparing partner and healer, We hope to hear back from you, and that you consider aiding him.)

After reading the short letter, Rei took a moment to think about what to do next. Glancing over to her son, she felt like she could be blinded by the shine radiating off her son as he smiled, clearly excited by the contents of his letter.

(Hello, Shoto, I'm Izuku Midoriya, My dad told me about you, he said we were the same age and are both perfect blends of our parents Quirks. He told me he would ask your parents to see if I could meet you and see what cool things we can do with our Quirks. They still haven't told me what your abilities are, so I thought I'd tell you mine. We call it Emerald Embers and Healing flame. I am able to breath fire and control fire around me, if I use both I can heal people who have been injured. There aren't a lot of kids where I live and almost no kids with quirks here so it would be really cool if I could hangout with you and meet your family, I hope they say yes!)

AN: So thats it for this chapter I don't know why but writing for MHA/BNHA feels more challenging since the show/manga isn't over yet and I don't know every detail of the world yet, like the small details I included about All Mights Career, I had to look into it, compare ages, time away from Japan, and little things like his position on his debut year compared to subsequent years. Where as with Naruto you can use the wiki to compare the age at death of the kage to create a timeline. (The first died at the age of this in this year, so the second started being the hokage the same year, and finished when he died meaning the year is x so the third began being the hokage soon after, Minato has his entier chronology and is the youngest at age 24 [I think] he dies at age x leaving Naruto an orphan and then you measure the rest as he ages simple.) But with this world the ages of the previous wielders were kept a mystery [until now] and the timeline of events are told as if its along time ago in a different age, given the ages of the wielders it has to be at least 180 years ago, taking into account the current date is never specified, meaning it could be thousands of years in the future or hundreds. Anyway small rant over I'm going to try to be consistent but i just have an easier time writing for Naruto so there will probably be more updates for that series first. Comment any details you liked. Also I cannot remember if I retconned the ages of the kids so if not let me know to update the old chapters.
