Evelyn's p.o.v.

I walk into the big, glass building, my head still pounding from night before. I feel the taste of Jack Daniels in my mouth even though I washed my teeth three times this morning.

"Someone partied until morning.", I hear Clint voice as Annie checks my ID card.

Standard procedure.

"Someone mixed beer and hard liquor.", I say, putting the ID back in my wallet.

He frowns, "Bad decision."

"You don't say."

"Tony called. He won't be coming today.", he informs me as the elevator starts moving upwards.

"There is a God.", I mumble.

"He wasn't with you last night?"

"No. Just Nat, Hill and Steve."

He looks at me, "Cap? Did you drug him?"

I smile, "No but yea, I saw surprised as well."

"Thanks for the invite, by the way."

I tilt my head a little, "It wasn't my idea so you'll have to thank Nat."

"I'll keep that in mind.", he tells me as the elevator stops and he walks out.

I pass a few more floors before reaching my destination. On my way towards the lab door, I see Steve sitting down, inspecting a broken piece of metal that fell of Tony's suit.

"You're early.", I say walking in.

He looks at me and smiles, "And you're late."

"I'm never doing this again.", I say, placing my backpack on a chair.

"Drinking?"

"Waking up."

He laughs, "You need something for your head?"

"Just coffee."

"Already here.", he tells me, lifting up two cups.

"Wow, I need you around here more often."

"Hey, when I'm not on the field, I'm free for you to use me."

I look at him, lifting my eyebrow and smirking. It took him a while to realize how that sounded.

"In a professional sense, that was."

"We have a lot of work to do so we should het started.", I say, picking up some tools.

He stands up and walks beside me, "Sure. What can I do?"

"First, we need to unscrew all the remaining damaged pieces and see if something can be fixed., I say, taking a screwdriver and handing one to Steve.

I have to say he did a pretty good job for someone who doesn't really know what he's doing. He asked a lot of questions but I mentally prepared myself for that. I like to do my work in silence, concentrating only on that. At times, Bruce would be here to help me or keep me company and I didn't mind that. Surprisingly, I didn't mind Steve either.

After a few long hours, the suit is almost ready.

"Now we need to test it.", I say, walking behind the table and turning the laptop on.

"How do we do that?", he asks, looking at the suit in front of him.

"Well, usually Tony's here for this one but since Clint told me he won't be coming today, I guess you'll be replacing him."

He looks at me. his eyebrows knitted together, "I don't understand."

I smile, "You have to try on the suit. We need to see if everything's functioning correctly."

"Why don't you try it on?"

"Do you know how to read data feedback?"

"No?"

"Then you will try it on. It's the easiest way."

"I don't have the bracelet. Tony wears a bracelet to activate the suit."

I smile, "We don't need that."

Pressing a button on my laptop, the suit opens up.

"Go on, walk in. Don't be shy."

He steps in and I press another button, making the suit close up, wrapping it's metal parts around Steves body.

"You okay?", I ask loud enough so he can hear me.

"Yea."

"On the screen in front of you is an image of the suit and every function it has and it's location. You see it?"

"Yea."

"Test everything except flying and shooting. We'll go outside for that."

After about half an hour and Steves struggling to blend with the suit and understand it's functions, we walk outside of the building.

"Are you sure Tony won't come? He will kill us both if he sees me in this thing."

"Don't worry."

"Try shooting from your both arms.", I say when we are at a safe distance from the building.

He does that and I nod, "Great. Now try to fly."

He lifts himself just a little bit but quickly looses his balance and hits the ground hard.

I laugh as he stands up.

"Are we done? I'm getting a little claustrophobic."

I nod and open the suit for him. He steps out, drops of sweat gliding down his cheekbones.

I open the storage door and type a command for the suit to fly in it's place.

"Thank you for helping me.", I say, looking at him.

"No problem. You know I'm always here when you need me."

I smile a little, "Yea, I know."

He steps a little closer and my heart starts to beat fast, "I'll miss you."

I nod a few times, "I'll miss you to."

He wraps his arms around my body and I inhale his scent. The woody perfume fills my nostrils as I take a deep breath. His arms are strong but his embrace is warm and gentle. I close my eyes as my body fills with the feeling of security and carelessness. I freeze this moment, this feeling, his smell in my mind, making a memory that will follow me forever. The utopia feeling vanishes the moment my cellphone rings.

We break apart and I answer.

"Yes?"

"Come to the conference room, right now."

That's all Fury told me before hanging up.

I frown and Steve looks at me, "What's going on?"

"Fury wants to see me.", I say and we walk back into the building.

We walk into the conference room and I see everyone there. Well, everyone except Tony.

"What's the rush?", I ask as I sit down.

"Change of plans, you'll be leaving today.", Fury informs me.

I blink a few times, "What?"

"They saw another robot and Dumbledore insisted that you come as soon as possible."

"Is anyone hurt?", Steve asks.

"Fortunately no, but they are scared."

"Understandable.", Bruce comments.

"The plane is ready for you to go.", Fury tells me.

"But I don't have any of my stuff with me.", I say.

"They dress differently there so you'll get the clothes when you arrive. This is the only two things you'll need.", he tells me, placing a watch and a gun in front of me.

He points at the watch, "You wear this all the time. Don't take it off, ever. It's waterproof so you can shower with it. If something happens, you press this button and we'll be alerted. The area around the castle is mapped and we marked places where robots have been seen. Understand?"

I nod.

"We made a few stuff but since electronics work in a weird way up there, this is the only thing that we are sure it won't fail you. And well, you know how to use a gun.", Bruce tells me.

"I do.", I say.

"Thor has a sword with him since you're quite skilled with them. Use the gun only when you estimate that the sword won't be enough. Scaring students is the last thing we wanna do.", Fury speaks again.

"Everything's ready.", Maria speaks as she opens the door.

Fury looks at me, "When you land in London, the watch will lead you to the train station. There, a guy named Hagrid will be waiting for you. One of the staff members that's familiar with the situation. Do you have any questions?"

"No, everything's clear."

Fury nods, "Good. Go get your stuff from the lab and you can leave."

"Take care.", Nat tells me after giving me a hug.

I smile, "I will."

"If you need anything, call.", Bruce tells me and hugs me.

"Don't worry, everything will be fine.", I say.

"We're a family, it's our job to take care of one another.", Clint tells me, hugging me as well.

Family. Something I barely have memory of.

Speaking of family, I look around but don't see Tony. Did anyone call him to inform him that I'm leaving?

"I know will see you soon.", Steve tells me with a smile.

"You will.", I say, placing my arms around him, inhaling the same perfume as just a few minutes ago.

"You can let her go now.", I hear Tony's voice and smile.

He walks towards me with a concerned look. He's still not at peace with the fact that I'm leaving.

"I'll be okay.", I whisper, placing my palm on his face.

"If something happens, call."

I smile, "I will."

"Promise me that Evie. I don't want you loose you."

I nod, "I promise."

"Okay."

I walk up the stairs and join Thor who already made himself comfortable in the plane.

"Man, I love this so much.", he comments.

"It's nice.", I say before taking my seat.

"Isn't this exiting? You and me on a mission to save the world.", he tells me with a smile.

I smile back, "It actually is."

I take one last look at my family before the plane flies off. I'm exited but also sad that I'm leaving them behind. I love Thor but I always thought my first mission would be with all of them. I put my headphones on, deciding to leave my worries behind. Everything will be fine and soon enough, I'll be back in America with some incredible stories to tell.
