As they ran towards the place where they were supposed to meet up Zoro was keeping good pace with Sakonji. However, Tanjiro was having trouble keeping up with them.

When they finally arrived at Sakonji's home, he lead Tanjiro up the mountain and came back relatively quickly to talk and drink with Zoro inside his house.

Sakonji: "So Zoro" he said siting down. Who taught you that strange style of fighting.

In all my years of fighting demons and slayers, I have hardly seen people use 2 swords much less 3 swords.

Zoro: To be honest I'm not exactly sure, the thing is I'm not particularly thrilled about protecting people that I don't know against blood-thirsty monsters.

Tanjiro burst through the door with a bunch of bruises and scratches.

Zoro: "TANJIRO!" he said to him. turning to Sakonji he said "there is my answer" he said pointing to Tanjiro

Tanjiro: what do you mean Zoro-San?

Zoro: Thanks to your willingness to follow your dreams when you take the Final Selection I shall join you!

Tanjiro: Really Zoro-Kun.

Zoro: "Ai! Now ill be going no." said Zoro walking out of the house.

Tanjiro and Sankonji: What aren't you going to train with us.

Zoro: "What you guys are morons," he said pointing to Tanjiro "He's my rival I can't have him getting an edge on me by copying my technics."

Tanjiro: "Like I guess," said Tanjiro with a sweatdrop. "I know I'll do it, but it may take some time so here take one of my earrings," he said giving Zoro one of his Hanafuda earrings.

"Wear it so you'll remember the promise you made today,Ok!" Said Tanjiro with a determined face.

Zoro: "Ai, if I'm taking yours you should take mine then here, take these." said Zoro handing Tanjiro his earring on the left.

So that day Zoro left the cottage in search of his own way to become the strongest swordsman

Zoro then spent 6 months in the woods meditating and cutting down trees.

He then got bored and left the forest for something fun to do.

Which caused him to get lost in a... couple of places

After many many months, Zoro found himself in Asakusa (Modern day Tokyo). The city was hustling and bustling around the former pirate, yet he didn't care about them, he was just wondering.

Zoro: "Oi, do you have any food?" asked Zoro cockingly to the man at the food vendor.

Man: "Fidy Yen Pal," he said with a newspaper over his face.

Zoro: I don't have money, Baka just give me the food!

Man: Are you stupid or something if you don't have money get out!.

He then closed the window right in Zoro's face, leaving Zoro quite grumpy.

Zoro: Wow what an asshole. Hm, who are they?

As Zoro looked closer at the crowd, he could pick up that 2 people didn't have or were lacking something human. Zoro walked up to the woman and touched her shoulder and told her straight up...

Lady Tamayo: "I see your quite observant, but I can't divulge that information here people could hear," she said motioning her hand to the sea of people around them.

Zoro: Depends miss, do you have food I haven't eaten in a few days?

They walked back to Miss Tamayo's house and she provided Zoro with Booze and Udon she retrieved from a near by vendor. She then told Zoro how she became the way she is...

It is time for the Final Selection! There are many Students ready to participate for the chance to become full-on Demon Slayers. Out of the crowd, Tanjiro is there waiting for a friend to show up.
When the man of the story steps in...

Zoro: "Hey! Tanjiro!" said Zoro yelling at Tanjiro.

Tanjiro: "Ai Zoro-San!" said Tanjiro running up to Zoro, but he slowed down when he got a better look.

"Hey Zoro-Kun uh what happened to your eye," he said pointing to Zoro's scared eye.

Zoro: Oh that, that's nothing just a boar I was chasing that's all.

Anyways how was your training?

Tanjiro: It was amazing! I'm practically a master in water breathing.

Zoro: Excellent I learned a few tricks myself, I can't wait to see what you do.

Tanjiro: Same here Zoro.

Eventually, the final selection began, sending everyone into the forest where some would be successful and some demon food.

Zoro however did not have this luxury because...

Zoro: Where the heck is everyone? I could've sworn they said there would be demons here. I really wanted to try out my new techniques.

Little did Zoro know is that the Demons were hiding from him! They could sense that Zoro was far too dangerous to be dealt with.

Demon 1: Who is this guy he has bad news written all over his face

Demon 2: "Jess I'm outta here before he sees me." said the demon scampering away

However, Demon 3 was way too hungry to think straight.

Demon 3: I'm too hunger must, EAT!

The demon lept out of the tree it was hiding and lunged towards Zoro.

But, the second the demon lept out Zoro was ready.

Zoro: Ah perfect now I get to try this new technique...

He then slashed the demon down, but didn't vaporize it

Zoro: Yea sorry, their pal forgot to mention that these aren't those sun swords you've heard about so you just stay there and let your "Blood Relatives" eat you alive.

And as Zoro walked away, Demons swarmed the weakened foe

Demon 3: AAHHH STOP! No don't leave Me Here!

Zoro then walked to the end in 3 days of straight walking and then proceeded to sleep for 4 days without interruption.

When the exam was over Tanjiro Exhaushsted and bruised Tanjiro walked over to Zoro and asked how he did.

He said...

"EH NOTHING NOTABLE"
