Disclaimer: If your not okay with gay couples and Mpreg on some levels, the warning is that the woods are both men.
Lord Exavior Meadows Woods and Lord Jeremiah Meadows-Woods were two very fierce wizards. Neither one alone one to anger, but together, they were a fight to be reckoned with. Many people had been angry when they chose each other as both were considered great catches at the time and everyone wanted to marry a lord. Together, there power grew though, and while in most cases, they were reasonable, there son's disappearance was not one of those cases.
They would have to tread carefully, especially knowing who had had their son. The light side war hero's the Potters. Well, they had not been on the radar of the auror force for the disappearance. They had hyper focused on death eaters being responsible, despite being informed time and time again that was not the case by the family. How they knew that she did not know. She knew they weren't marked death eaters, there had never even been an accusation of such, and yet they knew. The auror force had failed the missing child all those years ago. Failing to take their words. When the family realized, they would be angry. Very angry.
She honestly, in part wished she could give this job to someone else but knew she could not. She would have to be careful not to anger the family too much with what she had to say. Perhaps they would focus for the moment on the happiness of there son being found, but that would not last long before they began attacking for their failures, and demanding answers she did not have. Especially, if those scars and slight injuries she found, was not the extent of the suffering the child had been put through. So many questions she did not have answers to.
Getting a meeting without a proper explanation, was easier than she thought and did not buy them time to work out what would need to be said. Explaining why over the floo was not a good idea so she had hoped she would get a bit of time before the meeting was accepted. Still, it was about eight in the evening when the aurors met the Woods family in there home. Almost an hour after sending everyone on their way. It would be a very late night she knew. They were welcomed into the home, the typical greetings and social niceties between them before they got to the matters at hand. "Amelia," Lord Woods said. "You asked to see us. its rather late for business and you wanted all of us present, so I assume it does not involve work. What couldn't have waited until office hours?"
"Hayden," she said.
The name alone caused them all to straighten up and focus entirely at the matter at hand. What did there long lost son have to do with the aurors presence? "What about Hayden," Lord Woods demanded roughly.
"Exavior," his husband warned knowing his husband's temperament. The very mention of Hayden set them on edge but getting answers was more important than anger. "Amelia what about Hayden?"
Blunt would be best, they had little patience and they had waited far too long for answers. "He has been located," Amelia said. She had to silence them with a spell since they all erupted into a thousand questions. They would let her get away with it this time. "Let me continue if you want answers. He was located at Gringotts through the heritage test at about 4pm today, it has been proven based on markings and blood tests. A classmate noticed he bore the Woods-Meadows marking. Decided to bring him in to prove it."
The mentions of him being found alive, had them all in shock, forming words was a struggle. It seemed so impossible. After all this time, he was still alive, he was found. They had barely held hope for ever seeing their baby again. To hear that he was located was impossible. But they had known Amelia Bones quite some time and trusted that she would not be there unless the proof was impossible to deny. She would have done her due diligence to ensure it was not false before coming to them. "Oh merlin," Lord Meadows said shocked. "I... where is he?"
"Saint Mungo's for shock," Amelia said leaving out it was also for excessive injuries. Now was not the time to bring that up, especially as she did not have answers to just how injured the child was. "Now I will tell you how he was located and the facts before you go running off so you are not caught off guard. Everything will be looked into so we don't have all the answers you deserve but we will clear up anything you need answered and then escort you to where he is. He has auror guard, so he is safe in the meantime."
"Okay," Exavior said taking a breath. "How...after all this time, over ten years we've looked for our baby. How exactly was he found."
"He was spending the last of summer with friends from Hogwarts, one of them knew your sons marking. Saw Hayden's when his shirt rode up. Chose to take him to Gringotts as he knew the story of your child's disappearance. We were notified as soon as the record showed he was your missing child. He has been raised under a different name. Raised muggle to my understanding and he had thought himself an orphan. I promise you, we will find out how he got the name he did."
They looked at her, still shaking slightly. "You're leaving something out Amelia," Exavior challenged, his magic escaped slightly causing the room to warm to an uncomfortable extent. The display of power caused the younger auror to shake slightly in both shock and awe. It did show just why that was not a family to anger. "So, stop pussyfooting around it and tell us. I have no time for polite statements. I want to know what you know and then I want to see my son."
He pulled in his magic realizing it was harming those around him enough she had to catch her breath. "Harry Potter...he's known under the name Harry Potter."
Oliver thought of the dark-haired little boy he had taught quidditch to. The scars especially. The way he was too thin to be healthy and all that had been suspected of his treatment on the muggles. The idea, was bad enough but to realize, that was his brother. He had been so close and they never knew. He had been right there and yet none of them knew. Oliver couldn't protect him either. His own brother. He couldn't protect him from the muggles. From the other students. From professors trying to hurt him. "No no no," Oliver said shocked. "No please say he is not Hayden."
"Mr Woods, why would you say that," Amelia asked confused.
"I think he has been abused," Oliver choked out, god he should have done more, kidnap him if need be. But he had done nothing, if he had been hurt further it was his fault. He had already felt guilty about it but knowing it was his brother, he felt sick. "I told the headmaster and Professor McGonagall, but they didn't believe me. He has got scars and you can count his ribs and he is jumpy and flinchy. I...it was bad enough when it was a kid, I barely knew but if it was Hayden..."
"Abused, abused how, why didn't you tell me," Exavior asked.
"I wrote a letter, I thought you got it," Oliver said since he had hoped for advice from his parents but assumed that they did not see the issues since they had not responded. "I told our head of house, and the headmaster."
"I'm afraid I must confirm this," Amelia said and the group's magic flared in anger at the confirmation. Now was best to get that out since it was already brought up on some level. "When doing the scan of markings, I saw scars that could only have been caused by abuse. As well as other injuries. the extent I don't know but any injuries should be fixed by the time we arrived."
That did not make it better nor right. Exavior Woods was angry. Had they listened to him ten years ago, he could have had his son back then. Had they not favored the Gryffindor golden boy and demanded answers, they could have had his son back and he never would have suffered. "I told you," Exavior growled at her. "10 years ago, I told everyone it was the light side that took him not the dark. that the dark was too traditionalist to steal my child. I said it was James."
"Exavior..."
"I TOLD YOU JAMES STOLE MY CHILD," He shouted angrily. He had known the man had been involved but had no proof and then he was dead and gone. He never thought he was claiming their son as his own but he knew he was involved in some way.
Amelia knew that had been an accusation thrown about. No one had taken it seriously at the time as James Potter was a valued auror and there had been a lot of anger between them. He had not been a suspect except in the families' heads and yet, they had been right. That would definitely be coming back at them. "And without proof, there was nothing we could do," Amelia said. "Especially as an auror and considered a war hero. Now we can." She would get them answers. She owed them that.
"I want Sirius Black interrogated with veritiserem, find out if he knew the truth. I demanded it ten years ago but was refused. I will not be held back. I will destroy the ministry if I have to," Exavior threatened. She had little doubt he would manage that if not given answers.
"I'll order him brought in immediately," Amelia said. It had been one of the avenues she had already planned on exploring. While he was a known death eater, he had been close to the Potters and therefore was one of the best frames of references for what happened all those years ago.
"I want my son," Jeremiah Meadows-Woods growled no longer interested in calming his partner's temper. He would let them do their job but insured they were not foolish about it. He would deal with each of there failures at a later date. He just wanted his child. To see him with his own eyes.
"Of course." Nothing more was said as they escorted them to Saint Mungo's.
The moment they reached the door, they took in the site of the child laying so still in the bed. He was so small, so fragile looking. But the moment they saw him, they realized it was true. He had been found.
Oliver was the first to find his voice, realizing who was with him. It made sense when he remembered what the auror had said. Harry Potter was close to the Weasleys after all. "Percy," Oliver said seeing him. "Why are you..."
"He is sleeping," Percy said quietly not wanting to wake him. "The healing took a lot out of him. I don't think he will wake till morning. Did they tell..."
"You're the one who took him to Gringotts," Oliver guessed.
Percy nodded only to be pulled into a hug as Oliver broke down into his shoulder, everything that had happened being too much for him.
His fathers entered the room then, allowing the redhead to comfort their son as they took in the sight of the son they thought lost to them. They had questions, a lot of questions, but for the moment, they just looked at the child before them, knowing that he was home. They would burn the world around those who were at fault later. For now, they just welcomed the sight of him.
