Gray and his five year old son, Greige, were sitting on a park bench, eating ice cream from their favorite ice cream stand. The two of them were having a dude day, giving Greige some time away from all of his sisters.

"How does it taste, kid?" Gray asked as his son vigorously licked his mint chocolate chip cone.

Greige turned to look at Gray with a messy smile, his navy blue eyes sparkling in the sunlight just like Juvia's did. "It's so good, dad!" he said excitedly.

Gray laughed. "That's good. Did you have fun today?"

Greige nodded, his black hair bouncing with the energetic movement. "I like Mikado and Aerwyna and Eira, but they make me wear princess dresses and I don't like wearing princess dresses. I like wearing my fuzzy coat. Girls are weird."

Gray ruffled his son's hair with his free hand. "I know, kiddo. That's why I took you out today for some manly bonding."

Greige giggled. "You sound like Uncle Elfman. Be a man!" He dissolved in giggles again.

Gray laughed at his son's energetic happiness and the two boys went back to eating their ice cream in silence. Gray felt bad for his son, since he was the only boy his age at the guild. He had to deal with Flamebrain and Lucy's Nasha, and Gajeel and Levy's twins were a couple years older than him. Demir wasn't into the same things as Greige so the two boys weren't very close. Erza and Jellal had a girl too, named Alsie, so Greige really was the odd one out. Plus Greige had three sisters who all liked to make him play girly games and dress him up for their tea parties. The poor boy really needed some guy time.

Just as they were finishing their ice cream, rain drops started falling from the sky. One landed right on the tip of Greige's nose, and he looked at Gray in alarm. "Daddy," he half-whispered. "It's raining."

Gray looked at him, confused. "Yeah?"

Greige turned those eyes on Gray that were so similar to his mother's. "Daddy, what if mommy is sad? Do you think she's crying?"

"Why would you think that, buddy?"

"Because it rains when mommy is sad. I heard so from Mirajane."

Gray looked at his son, so serious looking. He looked so grown up and very concerned about his mommy. "No, kiddo. Mommy used to make it rain, but that was a long time ago. Mommy is happy now, so her skies are always blue."

"But how can the skies be blue if it's raining?" Greige asked, licking a spot of ice cream off his finger.

Gray sighed, thinking about the past and Juvia. He remembered those days when the rain fell from the sky like tears, her tears, that she couldn't shed herself. He remembered catching her as she fell from the roof of that building, and her face when she saw the sun for the first time. It seemed like she lit up from within; the sun caught brighter blue highlights in her curls, and brought out deep tints within her eyes. He remembered with perfect clarity every single tear she had shed in front of him, and he never wanted to see them again, if he could help it. He wanted her skies to remain sunny blue, and he would do everything in his power to help her.

"The skies are blue in her heart, Greige. That's what's important. When mommy made the sky cry, it was because her heart was crying. But now her heart is happy, so her skies will always be blue."

Greige mulled that over for a second. "Okay," he said finally. "But I want to go give mommy a hug. I miss her."

"Alright. Let's do that."

Gray and Greige walked through the streets of Magnolia, both of them unbothered by the rain pouring over them. Greige was playing with the rain he caught in his uplifted hand, using his magic to make shapes with the water. Gray was watching him with pride; his son was going to be a powerful mage one day.

The two of them came to their house, only a few blocks from the guild. It was a white two-story house, with bright flowers on every windowsill and lining the sidewalk all the way to their front door. Juvia was a whiz with flowers, and took pride in how their yard was one of the prettiest in the neighborhood. Gray was proud of her, too, and told her how lovely their home was all the time.

When Gray opened the door, two dark-haired bundles of energy came running down the hallway and jumped into his arms. Aerwyna and Eira were 3, and they loved their daddy with a burning passion. He was used to them throwing themselves into his arms, and he was really good at catching them, even when given little warning. Mikado followed them calmly, and gave her dad a hug around her two sisters.

"Hello my little loves," he said with a smile.

"Daddy! Daddy!" the twins shouted.

"Daddy, Wyna and Eira made cookies with momma," Eira said. "They taste nummy!"

"Yeah and Eira spilled flowers on Wyna," Aerwyna told Gray seriously.

Gray laughed.

"I think you mean flour, Aerwyna," said Mikado.

"It was accident!" Eira shouted.

Juvia came in from the kitchen, wiping her hands on a dish towel. "Girls, no fighting, please. And hello to Juvia's favorite boys." She smiled at Gray and Greige, then opened her arms for a hug.

Greige rushed to her, throwing his arms around her lower body. "Mommy, I needed to give you a hug!"

"Well, Juvia loves Greige's hugs." She brushed his dark hair back from his forehead. "What made Greige decide he needed a hug?"

"Well, it started raining, and even though daddy said mommy doesn't make it rain when she cries anymore I didn't want to risk it. I thought you might need a hug anyway."

Juvia's eyes misted up. She loved her son so much, and loved her whole family so much. "Oh, baby," she said. "Juvia's so happy she could never make it rain, now. But she's glad Greige cares enough to make sure Juvia is feeling happy."

Gray came over and joined the hug, the two little girls clinging to him like monkeys. Mikado followed, wrapping her arms around the group. Juvia laughed and basked in the attention.

This is where he is happiest, Gray thought, surrounded by his family. And his family will never cause tears to flow from the sky again.
