Chapter 3: Hello again.

"Come along now Sarah Jane!"

The Doctor exclaimed giddily. His long multicolored scarf trailing behind him as he eagerly pounced towards the TARDIS doors. Sarah Jane trailing behind him at a slower pace smiling fondly at his eagerness.

Outside The Doctor was met with the sight of a dark blue forest. The ginormous trees bearing a remarkable resemblance to the Earth's willow trees (if they were, you know, bigger and bluer) towering highly above, the blue sun peeking between the branches. He'd been there for 6.33452 seconds and he loved it already. Grinning The Doctor told Sarah Jane.

"Oh, would you look at that. The old girl fits right in here!"

Sarah Jane was too caught up in the beauty of the place to do anything except nodding in agreement. Shooting him a smile after she had taken a moment to gather her wits back, Sarah Jane told him.

"Well come on then. No point in just standing around. Let's go explore!"

As she walked forwards further into the forest. The Doctor's grin widened as he fell into step next to her.

"Couldn't have said it better myself Sarah."

They had been wandering around for a while now. The Doctor maniacally smiling as he told Sarah Jane various interesting (to him) facts about the planet Azure 3. That is to say. You know. The planet they were currently on.

"You know, this planet is one of the many planets in the galaxies with a nonexistent population of beings with a higher sentience."

The Doctor told Sarah Jane.

"Really?"

Sarah Jane looked around in surprise.

"Yes, well at this point in time at least."

The Doctor smiled mischievously.

"It will take about a thousand or two years more and then Azure 3's blue beetles will have evolved and in time will be the dominant species. Marvelous bunch they are. Knows how to appreciate the pure goodness that is a jellybaby…"

"Um. Doctor?"

Sarah interrupted. The Doctor looked over at her half pouting at being cut off. Ignoring it Sarah Jane asked carefully.

"If we're alone here… Who is that up there?"

Following the direction of her pointed finger The Doctor spotted what Sarah Jane had a minute earlier. There, high up among the trees sat a blond figure in a makeshift swing made of the willow tree like branches.

Looking at Sarah Jane in surprise, The Doctor's eyes shifted back to the figure. Moving closer a soft humming reached his ears. As he came closer the figure grew clearer. At the same time The Doctor had a smile steadily evolving into a manic grin sported.

"Ooh. I think I know who it is!"

The Doctor exclaimed giddily. Sending him a look of surprise Sarah Jane asked.

"Really? Well, who is it then?"

"A friend. Hey Luna!"

The Doctor shouted the last part gaining the attention of Luna who had been sitting in her own world contemplating the meaning behind the use of Blibbering Humdingers as guards for the Himalayan druids, but never you mind that, it went on the backburner when the curly haired man called out to her in any case.

Leaning backwards she gained a lovely upside-down view of the man and his companion. Speaking of companions Luna could not help but wonder how she was supposed to find the one she was supposed to be the companion to. She really missed him.

"Um… Luna dear. Would you mind coming down from there?"

The man asked nervously. Oh, right she had company. Company who had ran all the way over to her leaving his companion far behind him. And he as it appeared to be, became nervous from seeing her hanging upside down by her knees seven hundred feet in the air. Well… all right then, guess she was coming down.

Leaning back even further she got of her makeshift swing. Ignoring the half-strangled shout of fear, she somersaulted in the air to get the on top bits the right side up before casting a wandless charm on herself that slowed her descent. Floating down she landed on the ground gracefully.

Rushing forward anxiously The Doctor exclaimed.

"Are you trying to give me a hearts attack? What did you have to go and do that for?"

Grabbing her shoulders, he looked her over anxiously. Luna looked at the stranger who seemed to be bursting at the seems with worry. That was rather odd… wasn't it? Oh, well

The Doctor let out a sigh in relief after he had established, she was unharmed. Looking up he noticed the look on her face. That dreamy look. Like her mind was elsewhere. He had never seen her look at him like that. Like she had more important things to focus on. He had to say… he did not like it. Not in the slightest.

Then she opened her mouth and what she said made it feel like the air had been knocked out of him.

"I'm sorry have we met?"

The Doctor recoiled away from her like he had been struck.

"You don't know me?"

He asked. Trying to keep the turmoil of emotions out of his voice.

"Should I?"

Luna asked tilting her head like a little curious bird. That couldn't be right. She had told him they met earlier than this. Or well, later for him, but earlier for her! Why didn't she know him? Was it his body? Shouldn't she be able to recognize him with her other senses? He was not prepared for this!

Luna looked at the stranger with the long scarf. Oh, dear he seemed to be panicking. Should she do something? Or was it better for her to simply give him a tick to calm down. Luna decided to give him a little while to calm down on his own and to hit him with a serenity charm if he couldn't.

Looking back up to see Luna still standing there watching him humming to herself as her focus slipped away. The Doctor scolded himself. This was not the time to panic. He needed to introduce himself. Oh, dear Rassilon that was a weird thing to think about in connection to Luna! Right then! Introductions. He had done it many times before. He could do this!

"I. I'm… I'm The Doctor."

Blast it! He stuttered!

The Doctor? The name rang in her head. The Doctor. It was The Doctor! A smile grew on her face.

The Doctor was still scolding himself over his stuttering when the young lady in front of him who he considered to be one of his best friends launched herself at him.

Capturing his lips with her own before engulfing him in a hug.

Well… The Doctor thought shocked. Red as a tomato. I did not expect that.
