I'm a little bored because my show is about to start, in 45 MINUTES!
So while I wait, I decided to release Chapter 3 a day early!
Enjoy!
Cook Books Hold Meanings
Ryan was on Cloud 9 the whole ride home. When he got home, he ran to his room, shut the door, and started to read through the cook book. There was a lot of bookmarked pages, so Ryan started to read the bookmarks.
"Grandpa says to add a lot of chocolate to the swirl cake because people like chocolate over vanilla. I looked that up and yeah, chocolate is America's favorite flavor. But what if you're allergic is my question."
Ryan smiled at that note. He flipped through more pages and read more bookmarks.
"Crème Brulee is hands down my favorite thing to make. Grandpa says that you have to make sure the caramel is perfect because that is the main part of the dish. I like to make homemade caramel a lot."
"My cousins Zara and Michael came over today and tasted the brownies I made for them. I asked what they were missing, Michael said, "nothing" but Zara, his little sister, said "sprinkles". Note to self: Buy Sprinkles."
"I made a carrot cake today for my English teacher's birthday, Mrs. Watson. She told us at the beginning of the year it was her favorite, so I had to make it for her. Thankfully, she loved it, now I'm on her good list!"
"I'm thinking about going to a business college so I can learn how to run a restaurant instead of U of A. I mean, I would love to go to college with all my friends, but baking is my real passion."
This cook book seemed to hold recipes and secrets! Zeke never talked about wanting to own a restaurant before. Maybe he keeps all his secrets that have to do with baking in this cook book. He saw a bookmark with his name on it, so he read it.
"Today was INSANE! We won the championship against the West High Knights! Nobody can beat the Wildcats! Anyways, I baked some cookies for this girl I like named Sharpay, and she dissed me. Yup. SHE DISSED ME! I was kind of hurt by it, but her brother Ryan took them and said "good game". He's sweet. But after that, Sharpay ate them I guess and said, "These cookies are genius!" Which made me love baking cookies more. Thank Grandpa!"
Wait. A. Minute.
Ryan stared at the note for a while. Zeke thinks he's sweet? Does Zeke think he's sweet still? How will he even know?
Just then, Sharpay busted into his room. "Ryan!" She yelled. "Do you have anything to do this afternoon? I have an interview with a college today who recognized my talent! Isn't that awesome?! I mean, it's not Julliard, but hey, college is college! I need someone to watch Boi while I'm gone. Can you?"
Ryan shook his head. "I'm going to Kelsi's house later to help her with the show. I wont be back until 5:30." He told her.
"Why the f*ck did you say yes to that Ryan?!" Sharpay hissed.
"Hey, in my defense, you're the one who wanted me to take her to prom in the first place." Ryan pointed out. "Just get somebody else to watch him like one of the Sharpettes."
Sharpay groaned. "They act like their too good to be pet sitters." She looked at her phone. "I'll just get someone else to watch Boi. Don't worry yourself slick!" She slammed his door shut.
After Kelsi'sHouse
Ryan came home from Kelsi's house at about 5:20. They had to wrap up a little early because Kelsi had a meeting with Miss. Darbus at 5:45. When he walked in, he saw Sharpay's pet sitter.
You guessed it. Zeke Baylor.
"Hey Ryan!" Zeke said while he was making Boi's snack. "How's it going?"
"Good." Ryan answered, sounding like he inhaled a lot of helium. "So you're Boi's pet sitter."
Zeke nodded and gave Boi his food. "Yep. I'm a dog person, so why not, right?"
Ryan smiled at him. No harm in taking advantage of this moment... "Hey, how long until Sharpay gets back?"
"She said she'll be back at 8:30." Zeke answered.
Ryan looked at the time. 5:30. He took a breath. "Do you want to watch a movie until she comes back?" He asked before he could think twice about it.
Zeke smiled. "Sure."
After popping popcorn they decided to watch 'The Invisible Man" 1933 version.
"Wow." Zeke said as he grabbed some popcorn. "Their acting is terrible."
"I was thinking the same thing." Ryan agreed. "But that's what makes it a funny movie instead of a horror."
"Yeah." Zeke said. He turned to Ryan. "What's your favorite movie?" He asked.
Ryan blushed. "I don't wanna say. It's kind of embarrassing."
"Can I try to guess?" Zeke smirked. Ryan nodded and so Zeke started saying movies. "'The Little Mermaid?' um... 'Annie?' how about... 'The Lion King?' Or is it..." He smiled like he knew for sure he was going to be right. "Is it... 'Titanic?'" He guessed.
Ryan nodded. "How did you know?"
"Who wouldn't love that movie?" Zeke sat up. "It has one of Celine Dion's greatest hits, 'My Heart Will Go On'. That song is the greatest song ever and no one will ever change my mind."
"You like Celine Dion?" Ryan asked with a smirk.
Zeke shrugged. "'My Heart Will Go On' is my favorite song honestly. I don't know why I love it so much, but I do."
Ryan smiled and stood up. "I have the album with that song on it. Want to go listen to it in my room?"
"Yeah!" Zeke replied excitedly. "I never say no to listening to Celine Dion."
They turned off the movie and walked to Ryan's room.
Ryan started to look through all the albums he had by different singers, and found Celine Dion. He put it in the CD player.
Zeke sat on Ryan's bed, then Ryan sat next to him when the song started to play. "I actually like this song a lot too." Ryan said.
Zeke nodded. "I like it a lot."
They sat in silence and listened to the song. Ryan sang along while Zeke just hummed to it. It kind of felt like they were on a date low-key... When the song ended, Ryan and Zeke stood up.
"Now that song is going to be in my head all week." Ryan said.
"Chad called me gay because I like it so much." Zeke told Ryan. "I mean, I didn't deny it but... he's rude."
Ryan had a lot of questions now. "Are you?" He asked quietly.
Zeke shrugged. "Maybe." He said. "There's nothing wrong with it, so I didn't say anything to Chad."
"Just because you like a Celine Dion song a lot doesn't automatically make you gay." Ryan said. "A lot of straight guys love Celine Dion."
"I just say I love Celine Dion and that's that." Zeke said.
Ryan nodded and looked down. He's a little confused now. Is Zeke gay? The conversation they just had didn't really answer his question to that. "Sharpay will be back in a few." He told Zeke. "She'll be expecting you to be in the living room."
He was about to walk away before he was grabbed. and kissed. Hard.
The kiss was very sloppy since neither of them kissed anyone before, but it was hot anyway. Ryan stood on the tip of his toes to reach Zeke's lips better, grabbing his face roughly. Zeke's tongue slid across Ryan's bottom lip, and with a moan, he slid it into his mouth. Ryan reacted immediately by trailing his tongue around Zeke's, tasting his mouth all over when...
There was a slam.
Sharpay was back.
Ryan and Zeke jumped away from each other as Sharpay made her way upstairs. She pushed Ryan's door open. "There you are Zeke!" She exclaimed. "Thank you so much for watching Boi!" She grabbed Zeke by the wrist and dragged him out of Ryan's room. "Let me show you your prom tux!"
Ryan sat on his bed, still breathing heavy from the kiss he just had with Zeke. He didn't know why Zeke just kissed him. Not that he was bothered by it, he actually liked the kiss, but it made him more confused than ever.
That's Chapter 3 folks!
