"A student from Academy City is attending this school, ah this just makes things more interesting first finally being with him now someone new, I can't believe " A petite teenage girl with lilac-colored hair and violet eyes. Wearing a black beret on her head with a gray ribbon connected to it, said while playing chess as she finishes the game with a playful confident smile.
"Academy City students sure are something, huh they get the best education and they get to have superpowers wish I knew who it is and I hope we can become friends.s," a girl, with long, light pinkish-type hair said during a conversation with her fellow classmates.
"Academy City huh a place filled with privileged kids hmm, will they be an ally or foe that depends all I have to do is just to find out who." a young man of average height with shoulder-length magenta hair that is styled on either side and sharp magenta eyes with a slim and muscular physique in addition thought while drinking and having her arm around a girl.
"Looks like I have some competition then, I'll make sure whoever that student from Academy City doesn't stand in my way, I'll do it all on my own I don't need anyone."A slim but well-endowed girl has long black hair with one braid tied with a pink bow as well as gradient red eyes said with a stern look on her face in isolation.
"That person from Academy City, a city that boasts the largest collection of primary, secondary, tertiary educational facilities in a single city, could be useful but I want a normal life." an average young man expressing an idle and unconcerned look thought as he sat in a classroom during class.
Everyone had shown mixed feelings of a person from Academy City attending their school year, the most competitive and ambitious of students has shown the highest interest in the said student, They will work hard to find out who and try to get them as their ally or if a foe to bring them down.
"Tchh great they don't have my brand of coffee." Accelerator complained in the cafeteria due to his favorite kind of coffee not being sold and then proceeded to order his lunch just a small burger and a few cans of coffee on his tray to try to substitute for his favorite brand.
Accelerator's aura goes with him everywhere being handicapped and his unique and androgynous appearance like a highly attractive girl the students in the cafeteria stared and commented on him to which Accelerator ignored at least it's better than Academy City who would feel threatened or would approach him knowing he is the number one esper.
"Woah look at him."
"He looks so hot and scary at the same time."
"I think something strange has awakened inside me ."
"I sense a main a protagonist of some story."
"He looks like Near from Death Note only paler, crippled and a trap."
More comments about him can be heard as Accelerator searches for a table.
"Asahiko Hey why don't you join us...' A female voice called for Accelerator to which he ignored and pretended not to hear.
He continued to look for the table in the cafeteria with one hand holding a tray and one on his crutch with minimal struggle as most tables are getting taken, He regretted spending too much time looking for his brand. A few steps and looks and he still couldn't find a seat such misfortune until he was approached by someone, more misfortune.
"Hey, Asahiko, why don't you join us over there." It turned out to be Ichinose who seems to be calling him.
"Come on no need to be shy, Here let me help you." Ichinose then took Accelerator's tray from his hands and gently pushed him toward her table who was filled with his classmates from Class B whose names and faces he didn't bother to remember and recognize.
He could not avoid this knowing most of the tables are taken and eating somewhere like the roof, toilets, or somewhere else would be a hassle so he just followed her. When they arrived Asahiko just sat down at the empty seat between Ichinose and some random classmate without saying a word and started munching on his burger.
The rest just stared at him with awkwardness, confusion, and concern, They don't know whether to think of him as delinquent or alone maybe both. Ichinose decided to break the ice.
"So ermm what do you think about this school Asahiko?" Ichinose asked.
"It's alright except for the fact they gave us a huge amount of money and S-System may take a while getting used to." He responded uninterested and not maintain eye contact mostly focusing on his food.
"Yeah I know right it sounds too good to be true." One of his classmates responded.
"Oh man, I don't know where to start with what to buy." Another responded.
Ichinose viewed Accelerator as one of those stereotypical shy loners you see on TV and with her kind nature she is determined to get Accelerator out of his shell and if she only knew what kind of person she knows as Asahiko really is.
"So Asahiko where you from?" Ichinose asked hoping Accelerator would be a part of the group
"Japan." Accelerator quickly responds while chewing his food.
The response made the group chuckled which confused Accelerator as he was hoping to give them the idea that he is not a people person. This scene suddenly gave Last Order, Yomikawa, and Yoshikawa a sudden disturbance in the force.
"Alright, so what are your hobbies," Ichinose asked for more which annoyed Accelerator as he was in a middle of an important life-changing decision. Choosing his new favorite type of coffee.
"sleeping." He responded without thinking as he tried the different cans of coffee he bought to still he had no luck finding a new favorite.
This time it made the group sighed as they are figuring out what type of person Accelerator is at least what they think what type of person he is. After trying different kinds of coffee he finally found the one that will replace his favorite for the time being which brought to at least a better mood. He then stood up and took his tray to return it not before turning to Ichinose and her group.
"Hey just to let you know I am not a people person so yeah I would like it if you would stop this," He said with a small hint of anger and hostility he then walked away leaving the group mixed with emotions on his response.
"Well, there's that."One of the group members commented.
"So what do you think about him Ichinose."
"Wellll he's may be a little rude but he's alright he probably just doesn't do well with other people," Ichinose responded
"Are you sure he may be serious about I think it's best we just leave him be" Another classmate responded.
"Well, true but if we want to advance to Class A we all have the power of teamwork so everybody has to their part Asahiko included so we'll drag him even if he doesn't want to we might soon a wonderful side of him." Ichinose declared in front of her group who seems to be motivated by her words
"Well make him participate in class and we won't stop bothering him until he does, "Ichinose announced.
Suddenly Accelerator gained a chill inside him for the moment and decided to play it off and continued on his way.
"YEAH." Ichinose and his group said in unison.
"Ohh we might get a cooler side of him once we get past his scary and loner side." A girl in Ichinose's group said in a dreamy voice which made the group laughed.
"let's settle this our goal is to help Asahiko make friends and make him one of us." Ichinose declared which gathered support and awe in her group after that they continued with their lunch.
The rest of the day was normal for Accelerator but was surprised that the teacher didn't reprimand him for sleeping and not paying attention to even to some of the other students which made things better for him as long as he passes it's no problem. When class ended he straight up left the classroom without bothering to say a word to anyone which shocked his classmates both at him and his teacher to which he shrugged it off.
After class Accelerator made his way to the dorm, At the reception desk, He received a keycard for Room 401 and a handbook containing information about the dorm's rules, then boarded the elevator. His room looked like the one at Yomikawa's and he all has it to himself no more antics, no more walking in and suddenly seeing the girls naked due to their stupidity to lock the bathroom door freedom and peace.
This is where he will be for a year and back to Academy City's darkness. He laid down trying to settle into this new temporary life of his.
After a while, he decided to check his phone which was filled with a lot of messages from the trio. Yoshikawa and Yomikawa checking up on him, The group that allowed him to be there in the first place reminding him of things he shouldn't do, and Last Order bombarding his phone with a lot of messages to which he all decided to ignore for the time.
He strategized on what he will do for the year just mostly lay low and make the most of the peace. With the S-Point's he will probably just save them and spend as little as possible then by the end of the year he will use it all up on items he could bring home maybe for the kid not because he wants her to be happy anyway but because if he doesn't she won't stop complaining till the end of time.
With the remaining time, Accelerator decided to take a stroll in the nearby area, To take a look around and find some spot's he can hang around if he got bored in his room just like in Academy City only difference is he can't use his abilities to jump to the roof of the building.
He saw a nice cafe filled with cliques and couples on dates and passed by it knowing it will be too expensive and too much noise.
Accelerator decided to go to a convenience store instead of as he mostly preferred despite having the money it even back in Academy City it was cheap and simple unlike the rest of the higher level 5 who have expensive tastes. He then decided to do a little shopping for supplies and daily essentials. He roamed the store and found it bigger than a normal convenience store and more products until he found something that fully caught his attention tucked away in the corner of the convenience store. Daily necessities like toothbrushes and bandages had been stuffed into a clearance bin and labeled "Free." The bin was also marked with the proviso "three items per month." The items in the bin must be emergency relief supplies for students who use up their points he thought and could probably rely on it instead of spending points but refused cause it will get him to the trouble he did recall seeing something in the cafeteria having free meals but brushed it off as a joke, a social experiment or something else. This school really is special even more special than Academy City schools.
After some shopping, on the way to his dorm, he witnessed a scene which sadly common in high school life unless one is really lucky, bullying.
"Hey, you guys first years? This is our spot.", three boys called out to two other boys, one of them seems to be eating ramen.
"Who are you? I was already here. You're in the way. Get lost," one of them responded
The three laughed as their victim shot up, slamming his noodle cup against the ground. The broth and noodles splashed everywhere.
"'First-year punk,' huh? You tryin' to make fun of me, huh?!" one spat out
Accelerator decided to ignore the scene knowing it will probably get worse if he gets involve the victim is not helpless anyway and it's in public. He walked off leaving the scene to go load his room with the stuff he bought.
At his room, after assessing his room he then heard a knock on the door after opening the door to see who it is it revealed to be Ichinose and two other females which he recognized to be his classmates but didn't know their names.
"Oh hey Asahiko I live on the same floor just a few doors near the elevator I saw you a while back and hoping to come to visit, I brought some friends and why don't we get to know each other more ." Ichinose happily said
"Tch great this girl again why won't she leave me alone." The white-haired boy said inside his head as he observed Ichinose's companions.
"Oh I am Chihiro Shiranami we're classmates" a girl of average with short blonde hair and bluish violet eyes introduced a little embarrassed.
"And I am Mako Amikura." Another girl of average height with waist-length black hair that is tied in a ponytail and bluish eyes enthusiastically introduced after Chihiro.
"Hey umm I am sorry it may sound a little rude but could you all leave please me alone I really need to spend some time alone I am gonna have a private personal talk with my family so I'd appreciate would you please give me some time alone." Accelerator said with a little hostility while not trying to be rude because if he was rude it will be much harder to function in this school so he made a lie to which extent is the truth be he really want some time alone.
The girls were shocked as they were hoping he would at least invite them in as a regular teenage boy when visited by three highly attractive girls would at least have a positive reaction.
"It's alright we understand sorry," Ichinose said with disappointment and sincere regret followed by the girls. All three of them knew it was a lie but didn't bother to push through with it.
"Thanks see you in school tomorrow." Accelerator responds as he closed the door.
The girl's outside sighed in defeat.
"Aggghhh what's wrong with him I can tell he's lying, it's a good thing he's hot and not creepy or I would have beaten him" Mako complained.
"Mako, please we are not fully sure of that so we can try again another time" Chihiro replied.
"Well, Chihiro's right we'll try again next time for him and the future of Class-B," Ichinose announced.
"YEAH!," The three said in unison.
Now that they're gone Accelerator went back to relax. He now knows that their gonna be a pain in the ass especially Ichinose she reminds him of a certain person he knows that pisses him off so much.
After a long phone call with his so-called family and the group in charge of him checking on him, he went to bed without watching some TV first. As he falls asleep he realizes he NEEDs to buy some manga since he only brought one with him and is halfway on finishing it.
The next day of class Accelerator went in late and arrived in the middle of Ms. Hoshonomiya's discussion but didn't miss much as it was to check up on how the students are doing nothing important. Accelerator just went made eye contact with the teacher waiting for her to lecture him about being late or something but just flashed a smile at him which he didn't respond to and just walked to his seat.
After a few subjects, it was swimming class a class most boys would dream to have in their school but not for Accelerator since he can't even swim due to his condition well he can but all he could do is walk and sit in the pool. Swimming is not even an interest of him.
Good thing for him it was optional for him so he decided to relax on the bleachers, a good thing he brought his manga with him to pass the time.
His classmates started swimming and there're actually a few who also didn't want to swim and joined him. There were students who were impressed Accelerator is reading a manga by the bleachers they view him as the stereotypical serious loner with no interests and just sleeps around. As the girls walked out of the changing room in their swimsuits they were shocked by Accelerator's lack of interest, some feared for their safety hoping he doesn't swing the other way.
"Really Asahiko is really weird I mean he is a boy couldn't he at least sneak a peak or glance at us," Mako said
"Yeah I am with you but hey he's reading manga and a good one Asahiko(Accelerator) is a man of culture." a male classmate said
As time passed a whistle was blown signaling the end of swim class after everyone got changed his classmates were surprised to see Accelerator sleeping by the bleachers one of his classmates decides to wake him up to which he thanked and followed his classmates back to the classroom.
"That dude is not normal." one of his classmates said.
"What is normal?" Accelerator asked mentally following his classmates.
Classes ended and everyone left the classroom. Accelerator decided to first go to the library so he can borrow some manga instead of buying one in the bookstore. Once he arrived at the library it was huge.
He looked around for certain manga until he finds a girl struggling to get a book he decided to help her not because of the kindness of his already darkened heart but because it would make too much of a noise and she would just ask him anyway so he used his crutch to push the book in order for the girl to catch it.
"Thank you sorry if it was a hassle for you ." the girl politely thanked Accelerator.
"Tchh." Accelerator didn't even bother to say "your welcome" and proceeded to find the manga section but he turned back to the girl knowing if he asks her where's the manga section it would save him time and energy.
"Hey, do you know where the manga section is?"
"Ah yes, it's over there." she points to the place at the corner near the tables.
"Thanks." He said as he quickly turned around until the girl he helped walked in front of him.
"Oh let me help you carry your books since you helped me." she flashed a cute smile which even Accelerator a cold-hearted bastard who kills people and still sleeps peacefully at night melt even a little as it reminds him of a certain girl.
"Tch fine." he agreed as he allowed the girl to follow him.
Accelerator browsed the manga section and got three books that caught his eyes 2 sequels to the manga he finished earlier and a new type he handed the books for the girl to carry so he won't have a hard time carrying three books and his crutch.
While waiting in line the girl that has mid-back length silver hair that has black ribbons and light purplish eyes decided to start a conversation with Accelerator.
"So umm aside from manga do you like other books," she asked in a quiet tone
"No just manga and/or light novels." he instantly answered without even bothering to make eye contact with her.
When he was next the girl gave the librarian the books and used his student ID to borrow the books. He then turned to the silver-haired girl and said thanks then left not before he felt a tug on his arms.
"M-may I ask your name." the girl politely asked
"huh"
"It's just no one in my class reads any books unless it's schoolwork and since you read books too even if we may have different tastes I would like to know your name."
"Asao Asahiko," he said as turned away and walked out of the library not even saying goodbye to the girl.
"hmph and I thought I could make a new friend." the silver-haired girl pouted and went back with her business.
"Asao Asahiko," Ichinose said having a discussion in the hallway after class.
"You still on about that." her classmate asked
"Yeah sure he's alright but it will be really hard for him in the future," Ichinose replied
"I mean yeah it sounds like one of those tragic backstories villains have before they turned evil most of them had no friends so I am with you Ichinose." another classmate replied
"Yeah, and who knows it might turn out into a love story." one said with dreamy eyes.
"Asao Asahiko, I won't give up on you, you may have given up on yourself but I won't."
