The train pulls into the station and I'm almost giggly with excitement! The first thing I notice about the person in front of me is their suit, clean but worn, professional, but warm and welcoming. I like the man for his taste alone.

"Hello! Welcome to the town of Volney! My name is Isabelle and you are?"

"Jesse, Jesse Lowes, pleasure to make your acquaintance. I assume you are my Secretary?"

"Of course, we have a busy day ahead of us, oh gosh we still have to get you settled in!"

"I'm sure it will be fine, Isabelle, I can call you Isabelle, correct?"

"If you like, sir." I say cheerfully.

"Excellent. Shall we begin?"

Jesse's Perspective

I'm walking alongside my Secretary and I notice that while she is extremely cheerful, she's also rather woozy and when I passed by her I caught a strong whiff of something unknown.

"Hey Isabelle, what is that smell? And why are you so dizzy?"

She becomes rather nervous and squeaks out.

"It's perfume and I had a bad nights sleep if you must know!"

"Okay…"

I guess it's plausible, I was gonna inquire further when we reach Tom Nook Inc. We enter the building and there's the man himself sitting at the counter. Isabelle walks up to Tom and says.

"Hello Tom, Mayor Jesse is here to purchase his first house!"

"Of course! I'd be happy to help the new Mayor settle down."

He turns to me and says.

"Do you have 10,000 Bells?"

I become very nervous.

"No I do not."

"That's fine! I'll build you the house on credit and you can pay it back later no problem!"

I immediately sputter out.

"Oh you don't need too Tom!"

"I insist, Mayor! Really it's fine."

"Well if you insist… I guess it's fine"

Isabelle checks her clipboard and almost falls over with panic!

"We are 5 minutes late for your ceremony Mayor!"

She grabs me by the hand and pulls me extremely quickly to the center of town.

She's huffing and puffing by the time we get there and looks at the crowd.

"Ok the ceremony is simple, a resident will hand you a sapling and you just have to plant it and give a little speech, easy as cake!"

"Ok…" I say slowly.

I walk up to the crowd and they all offer me a sapling, I pick a nice cherry one from a young Beaver. I walk up to the hole that's already been dug and plant the sapling.

I stand up and look at the crowd composing myself for this speech.

"Hello residents of Volney, my name is Jesse and I am your new Mayor as you well know, I hope to lead this town into a bright future and to help each and every one of you with any issues you may have. If you have any issues whatsoever my door will always be open!"

I wave at the crowd as they applaud, and walk over and shake some of the residents hands.

1 Hour Later

Isabelle's Perspective

"So how was your first day as Mayor?"

I was proud to help the Mayor with his first day and was impressed with how he had handled the crowd, my old boss never garnered that kind of support.

"It was fine I guess, I just hope I can meet their expectations." He says doubtfully.

"Don't be like that Mayor, I'm sure you will do an amazing job!" I say cheerfully.

We arrive at the Town Hall where the Mayor will be sleeping for the time being.

"Thanks for walking with me Isabelle. I'll see you at work tomorrow?"

"Of course, Mayor!"

"Goodnight, Isabelle."

"Goodnight, Mayor."

As I walk home I think.

Things are finally turning around for me.
