Chapter Three

Start of Ruination

Gabriel would have to say that Nightmare was by far his favorite akuma. Hadn't even been twenty four hours and he was already causing more chaos than Gabriel could've even imagined. Yes, akumatizing Alexander Black was a wonderful idea.

And yet, Gabriel wondered if Lila Rossi would be better suited to one of his akuma instead of Nightmare. She certainly is vindictive, for someone so young, she hates my young enemies as much as I do. Possibly even more.

Whether Ms. Rossi was young or not. It was time to get down to business. Gabriel's face remained cold as stone.

"Ms. Rossi." The world renowned fashion mongul. "I will ask this once and only once: Where is my son?"

The girl, who is currently at the bottom of the stairs, fidgets.

"I-I" the little liar stuttered out. What was she supposed to say? Hello, Mr. Agreste, I lost your son to an akuma because he's Chat noir? Yeah, no.

Suddenly, Lila feels so small and demure. Was this what it felt like to be preyed upon? To be a victim?

"You what?" Gabriel hissed, walking slowly down the marble stairs, each of his steps was perfectly calculated, calm and in control.

"Don't know, Sir." Lila speaks. "Last time I saw he was with L—"

Then, Lila realized she had said too much. For once her life, someone had asked her to do what she did best and she failed. She told the truth. The Truth dawned in Gabriel's eyes then, Lila could see it.

"How long?"

"Mr. Agreste—" Lila started to stay. She did not deny it. She knew what would happen if she did. She would be akumatized, like he preyed upon like so many others.

"How long?" Gabriel spoke, voice quiet and deadly.

"I'm sorry." Lila tried to say, almost pleading. "I didn't, I wanted to-"

"How long!" He practically roared.

Lila cowering, said nothing. She was trapped.

"It still stands. Find me my son." He snarled. "Now, get the fuck out of my house."

Lila did what all animals do when cornered and afraid, she ran.

12 Hours Earlier...

Alix ran. She didn't know from what but she just ran. All she knew was that something was coming for her. Hunting her down until there was nothing left, nothing at all. Alix yelled defiantly, daring them to face her, Alix Kubdel was never afraid of any challenge.

Still she ran. She was going to be late for school.

"Wow, I can't believe I'm pulling a Marinette." She mutters. Shaking off her thoughts, as she speeds down on her prized rollerskates.

"Come on, come on, come on." Alix chants, willing herself to go faster. "Yes!" She pumps a fist into the air as she makes in time with a few minutes to spare. Quickly, swapping her skates for her sneakers she heads towards Ms. Bustier's classroom.

"Wow, Kubdel. Never thought you'd pull a Dupain-Cheng." Chloe comments filling her nails. It was well known throughout the school that despite living directly across the school, Marinette was always late. Not to mention her stalker tendencies, as well. Alya was like Marinette's personal attack dog behind her back, always defending her friend. The perfect little angel (Yeah right!)

Why was Alix getting annoyed? Oh right, justification! Alya somehow got her father suspended from being the museum curator. Alix had no idea how that even happened. Basically, anyone who calls out Marinette and her unhealthy craziness gets slammed.

The only reason her dad got his job back was shockingly enough Chloe. She did tell Alix why she helped out. Since then, they've secretly (secretly! Keyword: secretly!) been allies against Alya. Nothing more, nothing less. Okay fine, maybe they were starting be somewhat very (very!) loosely counted as friends.

"Oh, screw off, Chloe." Alix huffs sitting down as she props up her feet on the desk.

"Whatever, Kubdel. You're not worth my time."

"I'll say the same about you." Alix replied in turn.

If one looked hard enough, both pinkette and blonde smirked at one another. Holding in silent laughs with their blue eyes.

"I'm sorry I'm late!" Marinette exclaims, busting in the room. Ms. Bustier just sighs. "Marinette, you say that every time, just take your seat."

Don't react. Don't react. Don't react, don't react. Alix chanted like a mantra. Adrien came in late too. Why do you have to exist? Why? If it weren't for you, maybe Dad wouldnt have lost his job at all. She thinks only slightly gulity for it. After all Adrien had no direct involvement in any of it.

"Alix, you okay?" Mylene said from next to her.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Just thinking."

"Are you okay Marinette?" Alix heard Adrien say. Marinette messed up her words. "I hope Kagami steals him away, you unworthy little bi-"

The whole room went silent. Whoops, she said that out loud. Thank god, Ms. Bustier had left the room. Now, Alix would have to face the wrath of her classmate.

"Alix how can you say that about Marinette?" Adrien states angry. "Wait, what does Kagami have to do with this?"

Blue eyes glare into curious emerald green ones. "That chick is hardcore. You'd probably hit it off with her. I see you when you talk about her, you like Kagami." Adrien blushes rosy in the face. A tiny smile grows on his lips.

Alix looks to her now enemies smirking as Marinette gasps dramatically. She continues on to Adrien, tho he's distracted by thoughts of Kagami.

"I called SOMEONE out on her rotten behavior and my dad paid the price for it alright." Alix glares harder at Alya and Marinette.

The tension in the air was thick. "Look, let's just all calm down." Marinette says more to herself tuen anyone else.

"You bitch, if weren't for your stalker tendencies towards Adrien. If it weren't for Alya going after me for calling you out on it. My Dad would have—"

Alix's voice closed up, a hand was put on her shoulder. It was not Mylene. It was Chloe. Shocking everyone, Adrien looks to Cholé than Alix finally landing on Alya.

"Alya is this true?" Marinette's voice wavered. Alya's eyes darted around trying to look anywhere but her best friend.

"Oh my God. You actually got Alix's dad to lose his job." Marinette's face fell into her hands.

"Alya that's really terrible. If Marinette is fan girl obessed, I've been there before, why didn't you tell me?!" Adrien practicality shouts.

"It's not just her that's been affected Adrien." Nathaniel states coming up beside him.

"It's all of us. All of those that called you out on you behavior. All the stuff you've done."

"But, I've done nothing wrong." Marinette said.

"That's exactly what a stalker would say, Dupain-Cheng." Chloe snarled.

"But I-, But I-,"

"Now, can we all stop for a moment?" Alix mumbled.

The image paused as white gloved hand settled over it. Bunnyx sighs as she relived the memory. A tear slipped down her masked cheek. All around her, different images of the past, present, and future were situated.

"I hate that memory. Having to experience it was one thing. Watching it from an outsiders prospective is on a completely whole other level."

"I agree." Spoke a female figure in red beside her. "But are you sure you want to go through with this? It wouldn't be wise. The complications could be disastrous."

"I know." Bunnyx starts glaring at the image, determined. "But We, I, must know what went wrong that day and fix what was. Time itself depends on."

"You carry a great burden, Bunnyx." The woman spoke to her.

"You know that better than anyone. After all we've been through. Don't you think we deserve some peace?" Bunnyx said.

"Yes, we all do." The woman looked over at her, her eyes soft.

"I'll leave you now. Please, don't lose yourself to your demons. We've lost so many people already." The woman spoke softly. She soon exited the Burrow, leaving Bunnyx alone.

"Okay, Bunnyx. Time to get to work." Bunnyx said to herself aloud. "Okay, even Chat would've hated that one."

Bunnyx pressed a hand on the image once more, returning to the memory.

Marinette was in shock, was this really happening? Her day had gone from perfectly normal to a madhouse. Okay, so maybe she memorized Adrien's schedule, had presents for his next 35 birthdays and maybe possibly stole his phone once or twice but it was only to delete an embarrassing message, that doesn't count as stalking! She didn't sabatoge a movie either to get a kiss, that was all Alya! Speaking of Alya…

How could she do that? How could she do those horrible things? It wasn't like her at all. Maybe Alya was possessed or something? Yeah, that had be it. Marinette had to ask Tikki later about it. Or, maybe it was something else entirely. Maybe Marinette didn't know her best friend, as well as she thought she did. Now, Marinette stood amoung this chaos at a lose at what to do. Not to mention..

Their was also the fact that, OH I DON'T KNOW, THE ADRIEN AGRESTE KNOWING SHE'S IN LOVE WITH HIM!?

Yeah, Marinette's morning was not going well.

A nudge from Marinette's purse from Tikki got her attention.

"Excuse me, I have to go to the bathroom." Marinette spoke to class. Others nodded. Then, she could've heard someone say something that made her freeze in her tracks, "Don't get akumatized on the way out, bitch."

Marinette clenched a fist in anger. She knew what that meant.

But the worst part was that Adrien didn't even care that she liked him, all he cared about was Kagami. Was she that invisible to him. That...worthless?

Marinette had to stay calm. She was Ladybug. And Ladybug could not afford to be Akumatized, not even once.

Marinette left the room.

"Marinette?" Tikki spoke to her in the empty hall. Everyone was in class, so it was unlikely that anyone would see the tiny kwami and her talking.

"I'm fine Tikki...I'm just so tired, so tired of all this." Marinette mummers.

"Marinette..." Tikki whispers once their in the hallway.

"Why, why didn't he even acknowledge me?" Marinette leans against a nearby locker for support.

Her bluebell eyes sting as she slides down the locker. Marinette didn't sob, she's far past that now. Far past those type of emotions. Her whole world in just a few short hours has come crashing down.

"Marinette," Tikki waits for Marinette to look at her. The kwami's ancient heart squeezes for her current Bug.

"He does care for you. Adrien sees you as a good friend. All you have to do is apologize, I'm sure he will forgive you." Tikki states confidently. Though even she's not even completely sure if that's true.

"I guess so." Marinette says, wiping her eyes. "Can we not talk about it right now? I kinda want to blow off some steam."

"But what about school?" Tikki stares up at her Chosen as she says this.

"School can go stuff itself. Right now I don't care for it. Come on."

"Well, since it's a half day of school…" Tikki replied, hesitant.

Marinette ducked into a nearby classroom, praying that no one was looking.

"Tikki, Spots On!"

The broom closet which had been slightly ajar creaked wide open as Ladybug swung herself out an empty class. A pair of dark colored eyes narrowed.

"Well, this is certainly an interesting development.." a female voice whispered to herself. "Who would've thought that hiding from others would lead this?"

Kagami could tell something was wrong with Adrien as soon as they both step onto the mat. His face was hard, displaying nothing. So unsual for him, it was a face that was usually worn by Kagami herself.

And Kagami wore the face well. She wore it around her peers, her family, and even her friends. But never around Adrien. Never.

Kagami would figure out what was wrong, for in fencing nothing was a secret.

Both Adrien and Kagami flipped down their visors.

Fencing was like a dance, each move is choreographed just so and in turn you command you body in a certain way.

Both got into position.

Adrien made the opening move. Interesting, Kagami thought as she side steps his strike. So it's like that.

Kagami comes back in fury of attacks, pushing onward. Trying to gain ground. Adrien won't let her and comes down equally as hard on her. Both get lost in each other's oncoming movements, failing to notice the thinnning of students around them and the signal of the end of practice.

He's fruastrated about something, but also...sad.Kagami thinks as he backs off.

"Take a break?" Adrien pants throwing off his visor. His blond hair is plastered to his forehead and Kagami can't help but wonder what it must feel like. Kagami shakes of these foolish thoughts, what is she that stalker girl Marinette? Heading over to the lockers they get out their water bottles.

"Yes. That'd be great." Kagami speaks in reply.

"Hey, do you mind if I take off my shirt, it's kinda hot in here." Adrien says to her.

"Yeah, go ahead. I'd do the same if I were you."

Adrien proceeded to take off his shirt. What reveals underneath is pure tone and corded muscles that fit well with his lithe body. Kagami can now see why he is a model. Suddenly, her throat feels even more dry than it was before.

"Um, are you okay. Kags?" He asks, wringing out his damp shirt. His emerald eyes staring into hers.

"What?" Kagami replies, trying really hard to tamp down the blush rising up on her face. Did he just call me Kags?

"I'm fine. I'm wondering if your okay, your angry at someone. Why?"

"Their's the Kags I know. Always straight to the point. If you must know. It has to do with-"

"You being rejected by Ladybug again right?" Kagami interrupted.

Adrien chokes on a mouthful of water.

"What, but, I, uh, Kags I can explain—"

"I was right. You are Chat Noir. Now where's that kwami of yours?"

"Wait, how do you know about—"

"Told you she was a smart one , kid!" A small voice speaks. It is distinctly male and is quite high pitched. It comes from a small floating cat.

"Name's Plagg, God of Destruction. I keep this idiot over here in line." The tiny god spoke, rolling his eyes as he munched on a piece of...was that cheese?

"Plagg!" Adrien scolded.

"A pleasure." Kagami smiled, shaking a tiny paw.

"Anyway, that's beside the point. Well, actually—"

"Adrien." Kagami warned.

"Okay, it has to do with this girl in my class."

Marinette Dupain-Cheng, Kagami thought. What have you done to him this time?

Releasing her yo-yo from the top of a nearby building, Ladybug swung herself towards an unknown direction, the twang of the wire as familiar to her as the pumping of blood through her veins. On and on she went, swinging from building to building just...being. There was nothing. No school. No drama of classmates. And most importantly no-

"Adrien?" Ladybug questioned landing on a lamppost. And indeed it was the blond haired model. Hands in his pockets, the model looked up at the spotted heroine.

"Oh, hey Ladybug."He gave a smile. But Ladybug noticed it didn't reach his eyes.

"You seem down. Do you wanna, maybe.." God, she can't believe she's doing this. Even considering this. "get some ice cream?"

"Ice cream sounds great actually. Have you ever heard of Andre's?"

"Wow! This ice cream is amazing!" Ladybug spoke between bits. Okay, granted she's been here before but she had to act like she didn't know this place, for Adrien's sake.

"Yes, the ice cream is pawsitively amazing." Adrien gave her a look.

Ladybug nearly choked. Did Adrien freaking Agreste just make a cat pun. A freaking cat pun!

Okay, don't freak out. Don't freak out. Don't freak out.

Ladybug blushed.

"Of course. You like my puns out of the mask." He mumbled.

What? What? WHAT? WHAAAT!?

Marinette forgot to breathe. No, no. It cannot be him. It cannot, no. Absolutely not. That means...that means.

"Don't you think he looks a little bit like Chat Noir?"

Your hair is black as night, your pretty bluebell eyes, I wonder who you are underneath that strong disguise. Every day we see each other and I hope that you'll be mine, together our love could be so true, please, will you be my Valentine?

"Kitty?"

"Hello, Milady." Adrien spoke smiling. Milady, it sounded even more romantic now knowing how he was.

"Oh my god." Ladybug whispered.

"Do you mind if I kiss you?"

"Yes." Marinette smiled. He leaned in and his lips met hers. They were warm and soft, just like she remembered like before. Like the time she kissed him to save him from Dark Cupid.

He cupped her cheek and brushed her hair back to tuck it behind her ear. Then pain. Coming from ears.

Ladybug howled. No, Marinette howled as she hit the ground. Marinette's head swam and her ears rang as she realized what just happened. Her ears dripped droplets of red, naked for the first time since she received the miraculous.

He took her earrings.

He took her fucking earrings.

Tikki tumbled out of the miraculous.

"Plagg, Claws Out."

In a flash of light, Adrien was gone in his place stood her partner. No, not her partner. Her Nemesis. The Betrayer. She was nothing to him now. Nothing what he once was.

"Give them back." She hissed, stumbling to her feet. He stalks towards her, his boots clicking against the gravel.

"No. For my father has use for them. He's been after them for awhile after all." Adrien crooned, shifting the earrings from hand to hand. Then, it happened. The dreaded thing she wished would never come true. His suit started to bleed from black to white. His eyes turned green to blue.

"Father. No, Hawkmoth is after them not your fath—Oh god." Fuck, she was right the first time. He must have akumatized himself!

"Aw, the Savior of Paris realizes that her idol is actually a supervillain. So sad." Adrien was cold, so cold.

How could have things gone wrong so quickly? How could she have not seen it? "Adrien." She choked out.

That look in his green eyes that was once full of mirth and laughter, was nothing but full of utter malice as he prowled towards her.

Broken. They seemed to say. I am broken.

What has he done to you?

Her kitty's eyes narrowed into slits.

"Cataclysm." He hissed.

And in that moment, she had never felt more afraid.

Run, an inner voice screamed, run.

The image paused. Bunnyx stood frozen still, unmozing.

"Oh, god. No…" Her voice came out as a gasp. "No. No. No."

That word repeated over and over, the scene replayed over and over within her mind. That's when Bunnyx knew, and in that moment, that she could not fix it. She could not fix the past.

Bunnyx fell to the ground unpin the realization, body wracking with uncontrollable sobbing.

"I can't, I can't—"

I can't fix it.

"I can't, I can't—"

I can't fix it.

The world broke.

Hide, she and Tikki had to hide. Just hide.

She regretted her actions, why didn't she just listen to him, why did she have to be herself?

Kill her!

"No!"

Kill her!

"I won't let you control us, I won't let you—"

Kill. Her.

"GET. OUT. OF. MY. HEAD!"

Never.
