I'm writing this as if Jubal has met Erin a few times already and will be keeping it as Maggie also having a sister Mel.
Jubal was thankful that he had paperwork in front of him to pretend to work on but truth was he hadn't taken his eyes off Maggie the whole time that he she had been talking. He had not been expecting her to be so open and honest about her boyfriend, to hear those closest to her point out how happy she looked filled him with so much pride. All he wanted to do was to show Maggie how much he loved her, cared for her, make her feel safe and make her happy and he was hearing now that he was doing that. He had to hide the emotions when he heard OA and Kristen talk about wanting to meet the guy so much before how happy Maggie looked.
Jubal was thankful that Kristen and OA were so busy talking with Stuart and Tiffany now joining so they were catching them up on what they had missed as Jubal stood up and headed to the break room to hopefully find Maggie, his smile grew as he saw Maggie standing making a fresh pot of coffee. He walked over behind her and ran his hands along her arms kissing her neck.
"You know that I am definitely not too good to you baby. You deserve to have everything you want."
Maggie smiled feeling Jubal's hands on her arms and she briefly closed her eyes at his kiss leaning back against him before she turned around to face him. "Having you means that I have everything I want babe."
He knew they were at work and had to be careful but hearing the way she had spoke about him to the others and the emotion in her eyes as she stood before him now, he couldn't resist as he leaned in kissing her softly but with so much love. Jubal kept the kiss short as they were at work, he lay his forehead lightly against hers.
"I love you so much Maggie."
Maggie was surprised by Jubal's kiss when they were at work but the truth is she had wanted him to kiss her, she ran her hand to his chest pulling her forehead back from his a little so that she could look into her favourite hazel eyes.
"I love you too Jubal more than anything." Maggie smiled honestly looking at the man who truly was the love of her life, yes she had really loved her husband Jason but with Jubal it was completely different. "You know I have no idea how the hell you avoid looking at me when they bring up your girlfriend." She chuckled softly.
"It is always so hard but I am convinced that if I look at you or look at you for too long that they will be able to tell straight away that you are my girlfriend." He chuckled softly as he was running his hands along Maggie's biceps slowly.
"That's exactly how I felt when talking. I stole a quick glance but I was convinced anything more and they would know straight away." Maggie shook her head laughing "You were very quiet when I was talking, you okay with everything that I said?." She ran her hand along Jubal's chest, she knew his back was blocking them and they would also hear anyone coming towards the break room.
"I think our sisters have us convinced that people will be able to tell just from the way we look at each other." He laughed softly as he leaned in to Maggie's touch a little. "I was honestly surprised with how open you were baby, but I'm more than okay with everything you said. You know when you left they said that you seemed really happy and Kris called me adorable for the second time now." He pulled a funny face.
Maggie laughed when she heard about Kristen calling Jubal adorable "Oh god I can't wait to see Kristen's reaction when she finds out that you are who she has been calling adorable and I meant it when I said that I really am the happiest I have been in a very long time. I may also be to blame for Kristen calling you adorable since I did call you the sweetest man." She teased playfully laughing.
"Yeah but that's different I told you that you could call me whatever you wanted and I meant that. It was hard to bite my tongue and not tell Kris to stop calling me adorable." He shook his head laughing "And you only think that I'm sweet because you bring out that side to me… So you want to introduce me to them soon then huh?." He couldn't help the smirk that appeared.
"I knew you wouldn't miss me saying that they could meet you soon." Maggie shook her head laughing "I did mean it when I said that I want to keep you to myself a little longer but yeah I don't think it will be much longer before we tell them babe, are you okay with that?."
"I'm good with you keeping me all to yourself for as long as you want." Jubal smirked playfully before running his hands along Maggie's arms again slowly "Baby we both agreed with waiting to tell them and we will figure out the best time to tell them together."
Before Maggie could respond Jubal's phone alerted him to a text which he checked before chuckling and putting his phone back on it's holder as he looked at Maggie "Isobel wants us to come back from wherever we have escaped to, she wants us in the JOC, we have a case."
"Where exactly does Isobel think that we escape to while at work?." Maggie shook her head laughing as she turned to pour herself a cup of coffee and she made one for Jubal smiling as she poured it into the mug that the kids had gotten him for Christmas "You know the saying on your mug really is true, you really are Tyler's hero and Abby's first love."
"I do not plan on telling her about the roof, that I want to keep as a secret for as long as we can" Jubal smirked playfully and he smiled taking the mug from Maggie, his smile growing even more as she mentioned the saying 'Daddy, A sons first hero, a daughter's first love'. "Hmm I think I have close competition with you these days." He teased playfully as they started to make their way back towards the JOC "But you know that I love this mug because it came from the three most important people in my life. Anyone does anything to this mug and the paperwork for shooting them will be worth it." Jubal smirked playfully as he walked up to the front of the JOC.
Maggie shook her head and sipped her coffee to try and hide the smile on her face after hearing what Jubal had said about his three favourite people. OA stood beside Maggie as they listened to Isobel fill them in on the case but Maggie got a message to her phone which had her completely distracted. She hadn't even heard where OA had told her he was going, she just nodded her head before he walked away.
Jubal was giving out tasks at the top of the JOC but seeing Maggie so distracted was very unusual for her which had him worried. Finally he was able to make his way to Maggie who was still standing in the middle of the JOC, he stood close to her as kept his voice low as he spoke to her "Mags is everything okay? You have been distracted the whole time Isobel was talking and I'm pretty sure that you didn't hear OA tell you that Stuey and Tiff were heading to the crime scene instead of you both."
Maggie would have ignored someone talking to her as she was texting had it been anyone but Jubal talking to her, she lifted her head to look at him "No…I don't know. My dad was ringing me and when I didn't answer him Mel text me, they haven't heard from Erin in a few days and they are worried about her."
Jubal watched Maggie and he could see the worry evident in her eyes as she looked at him, he took her by the elbow gently and led her into one of the family rooms closing the door behind him. He stood facing Maggie and ran his hands along her arms slowly "Why don't you ring Mel and find out what is going on and then we will take it from there okay?."
Maggie was surprised when Jubal led her into the family room and neither of them had noticed that Emily had been watching them, they were both too caught up in what was happening with Maggie's family. Maggie was thankful that Jubal took them out of the JOC and she knew that he was right she needed to phone Mel to find out exactly what was going on. She was surprised when she felt Jubal's arms wrap around her waist from behind, but she leaned against him instantly as he sat on the edge of the table in the room. Maggie spoke to Mel for a few minutes before hanging up and she leaned more into Jubal's embrace as he lay his chin on her shoulder, she sighed softly resting her free hand on his as she was looking for an app on her phone with her other hand.
"Mel said that Erin has been really good at checking in with them the last five weeks, but that they haven't heard anything from her the last few days, other than a text to tell Mel to let Mum and Dad know that she was okay that she is just busy with Uni work."
"But your parents are worried that Erin has gone back to pills or something worse?" Jubal knew all about Erin's car accident in high school that led to her becoming addicted to pain meds which led to some low level drugs before her family got her in to rehab.
"They are worried that being in New York was too much too soon for her, I never thought about the impact on her for me not being around the last five weeks."
"Hey, this is not your fault baby, Erin knew why you weren't in contact she still had Mel to talk to and she knew if she got into any trouble or needed anything that she could contact me. This is not on you, why don't you try reaching out to Erin and see if you can get her to talk to you." Jubal held Maggie a little closer to his chest as he watched on her phone.
"I'm checking the family to family app and it says that she has been spending a lot of time off Campus lately."
"Maybe she has made some friends and has been spending some time with them."
Maggie rang Erin's phone and got her voicemail so Maggie left a message asking her to call back as she wanted to make plans with her to have dinner together. She said she wanted to see her as soon as possible now that she was finished her assignment and back at work. Maggie sighed when she hung up and lay her head back against Jubal's shoulder.
"Hopefully she will get back to me soon. If not I'll text her as well telling her to check in with me as soon as she can. I need to try and get in contact with her before my parents or Mel turn up in New York, you've met my family you know that they would." Maggie closed her eyes as she snuggled her cheek to Jubal's, she couldn't even imagine trying to deal with this on her own.
Jubal ran his hand along Maggie's side as he held her back as close to his chest as possible "We will get in contact with Erin and your family will know that you will be doing everything but right now baby I'm afraid you have to go out in the field with OA. I know you didn't hear a word he said to you but Isobel is looking you and him to go talk to the husband of our Victim."
Maggie turned her head kissing Jubal's cheek "Thank you for coming to me in the JOC and for bringing me in here, it's exactly what I needed and I know that you will help me with Erin which makes this all feel a little less daunting." Maggie knew her family were relying on her to figure out what was going on. "I honestly didn't hear a word OA was saying to me I was too focused on Mel's message but I'll go find him now. If I hear from Erin I'll let you know."
Jubal stood up straight and gently turned Maggie around to face him as he leaned down stealing a quick kiss "You never have to thank me baby, like you said at Christmas we are now all one big family, so Erin is my family too."
Jubal caught Maggie up on the case as he knew she hadn't heard anything in the JOC, she stole a quick kiss from Jubal squeezing his hand gently before she left the family room they were in. She looked over her shoulder briefly at Jubal before leaving, she really was madly in love with his man, he could calm her nerves better than anyone else.
