Chapter 4

The Amazons all stood in formation on the fields just outside the capitol building, in their Amazonian armor. The moon was at its peak height as it illuminated the area wondrously. Well it would have been a magical site if there weren't hundreds of thousands undead soldiers looking back at them. Rusted and battered armor as some had flesh dangling from their bones, they peared back at the amazons with the intent to kill. Seeing the look of horror on many of her peoples' faces, Hippolyta on horseback followed by Diana and Antiope made for the front of the group as she turned her back on the undead soldiers and looked at her Amazons.

"Do not be afraid sisters! For we are Amazons! The gods go with us in battle on this day and we shall claim victory!" She said raising her sword in the air.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" A dark laugh could be heard as Ares stepped forward in front of the army of the undead. "Oh Hippolyta, do not lie to your sisters... Well lies and deceit are part of your nature."

"You are in no position to presume what lies in my nature, you who feeds off of conflict!" Hippolyta fired back as they all braced for battle.

"Tell me, do you still despise men? Yet you let one stay in your home. Perhaps you are feeling the 'urge' that all women get once they've experienced it. If you wish, I would be more than happy to satisfy your carnal needs." Ares said with a sickening grin on his face as his eyes flashed red.

"I have no such needs that would need to be satisfied by the likes of you." Hippolyta growled back.

"Or would you prefer the mortal? I'm afraid that won't be possible, he won't be joining us this fine evening such a shame."

"If you so much as lay a finger on him-" Diana began to yell only for Ares to interrupt her.

"My dear, I'm afraid I am not the one that has dealt with him." Ares said with a grin. Diana grew worried for her new friend, the first man she has ever met, as she went to make another reply...

Thud!

Peter landed in front of the amazons with a tied up Loki as he threw him to Hippolyta's feet. He stood up straight as he looked at the shocked faces of the amazons. They took in his form as his suit had multiple rips and the lenses on his mask were cracked.

"Sup." Was his response as he looked at the supermodel warrior women. There was really no other way to describe them than that.

"I could have sworn we had the suit repaired for you." Antiope said with a smile as she gave Spider-Man a nod and glad to see that he was still alive.

Peter rubbed the back of his head nervously "Sorry about that, had to fight ten clones of him before finding the right one."

"I am glad to see you unharmed Peter" Diana said with a smile

"As are we all." Hippolyta added with a smile of her own as she turned her attention back towards Ares who was obviously furious.

"It matters little that the Asgardian failed to kill the mortal, I already have what I need." Ares said as he pulled a horn out from behind his back as he blew into it causing all the dead to begin rushing at the Amazons.

Spider-Man looked over at Artemis "Do you have another one of those?" He asked, pointing at her sword. Artemis gave him the one she was holding as she pulled out a much larger one from behind her. "Yeah makes sense." He said as he grabbed the sword and turned towards Ares.

"Amazons! Attack!" Hippolyta shouted as they rushed forward meeting the undead head on. Both sides rushed towards each other at full speed until they clashed in the center. The sound of swords hitting other swords and yelling could be heard as they slammed into each other, like the ocean waves crashing into the rocks. Spider-Man danced around the army of the undead as he dispatched multiple enemies in rapid succession.

"You lack any type of swordsmanship!" Antiope acknowledged as she head butted an undead soldier in the face sending it flying back before leaping into the air and cutting through dozens more.

"Well I'm out of web fluid, and it's not like I run around in New York with a sword!" Spider-Man said, catching an arrow inches from his face and returning it to sender. "I'm better with my hands anyways."

"Perhaps I will teach you how to wield a sword like an Amazon when this is over!" Antiope said as she used an undead corpse to block a barrage of arrows coming at her before throwing the same corpse back at her attackers.

"I would be honored." Spider-Man said as he saw multiple amazons to the right of him being overrun. Wasting no time he leaped in the air and made his way to the Amazons in danger. Jumping on the heads of the undead soldiers he dispatched multiple before flipping and landing in a crouch in front of the Amazons that were being overrun. He stabbed his sword through an enemy before flinging him at another platoon that was converging on their location. Seeing that he bought them a moment to breathe he offered his hand to an Amazon that was laying on the ground.

"Thanks." The young amazon said as she took his hand and made it to her feet "I'm Alexa by the way."

"Spider-Man." He said as five more amazons approached them.

"Alexa! Are you okay Sister?" an amazon asked.

"I'm fine Donna, thanks to Spider-Man" Alexa said with a smile as they heard the growling of the undead soldiers converging on them. There were about four dozen undead between them and the main amazon units. Spider-Man picking up his blade and looking at the undead soldiers in front of him.

"You Ladies ready?" Spider-Man asked as he looked behind him over his shoulder.

"Amazons are always ready." Donna said as the women yelled and charged at the undead soldiers cutting them down and making their way back to the others. Spider-Man threw his sword at one enemy as he ran forward and dropped kicked the blade at the hilt driving it deeper in. He stood up quickly pulling it out as he cut through more and more as they got closer to the others. Finally rendezvousing with the main force he rushed over to Artemis, Antiope, Diana, and Hippolyta who were in the front lines.

"We saw that you brought the others back to us." Hippolyta said twirling through the air elegantly and cutting down everything that stood in her way. "Thank you"

Ares stood in the back as he absorbed the energy from the conflict in front of him, off in the distance he saw Loki slice through the webbing, setting himself free and heading towards the capitol in search of the Norn Stone. He grinned as he pulled the horn up to his mouth again, Spider-Man's spider sense flared as he looked over at Ares as he blew into the horn. The deep noise traveled through the field as the undead soldiers collapsed in front of the amazons. But the bones began to rattle on the floor as they traveled back to where Ares was. They began to twirl in circles like a tornado, as they formed a multitude of Golems made of bones. They stood at fifteen feet each.

"HAHAHAHAHA" Ares's triumphed laugh echoed through the field and filled the night sky, as he emerged in front of the golems of the undead. "Do you see now Hippolyta! Do you see that you are only preventing the inevitable!" The look of horror littered across some of the amazons face's. The Golems grew impatient behind the god of war. "Join me! Run your sword through the mortal and we shall rule over the gods together!" he offered as Hippolyta looked over at Spider-Man.

"I will do no such thing, nor will I ever rule as your queen!" Hippolyta fired back.

"Then you will die with everyone else!" Ares growled as he gestured for the golems to move forward. The golems stomped their feet on the ground shaking it with each step preparing to charge at the amazons. Ares eyes glow an ominous red as he continues to grow stronger with the conflict. The Amazons held fast as Hippolyta waited with her hand raised as the monsters grew closer and closer.

"Now!" Hippolyta ordered In the distance a group of amazons used catapults to fire giant boulders that were on fire, and slamming into the golems tearing through most of them.

"We need to make a play for the horn." Spider-Man suggested as he looked at the queen. "If we don't get it away from him these things won't stop coming."

"Agreed, I leave that task to you and my daughter. We shall keep them distracted." Hippolyta said as she charged back into battle with the rest of the amazons. Diana looked at Spider-Man as he seemed to be deep in thought. But knew that he was thinking of a way to separate the horn from Ares.

"Lets get closer. I have a really stupid plan." Spider-Man said with a grin under his mask. They both slipped through the chaos undetected as they got closer to Ares. "Tell me princess, how good is your throwing arm?" Diana looked at him confused until she saw him pointing at the horn that was attached to Ares's waist. She grabbed him by the right leg and arm before twirling him and sending Spider-Man directly towards Ares. The amazons looked on at Spider-Man flying through the air to Ares.

"He is quite fearless isn't he?" Antiope said dodging an attack from a golem and chopping off its arm.

"Indeed." Hippolyta said as she jumped through the air and finished it off by chopping off it's head.

CRACK!

Spider-Man slammed into Ares sending him skidding back as the horn fell from his an instant Spider-Man made for it as he slid down and picked it up, before he knew it Ares had already appeared in front of him. He stared down at Spider-Man, whose spider sense was going haywire. Spider-Man was forced to dodge each attack but not all. Ares rammed his fist in Spider-Man's gut causing him to drop the horn before he grabbed Spider-Man by the head and slammed him into the ground causing it to crack.

"Gahhhh!" Spider-Man shouted in pain as Ares kept his foot planted on Spider-Man's chest. "...This...is why… you don't wear a skirt...I can see everything" He said as he struggled to free himself. But he was too strong now fed off of the conflict. Just as Ares was about to deal the final blow, Diana came charging in connecting with a full power punch that sent Ares flying back and crashing into several golems. She admired her handy work for a moment but was at Peter's side in an instant.

"Spider-Man!" Diana shouted as she crouched down next to him "Are you okay?" She asked worried as she took in his condition. One of his lenses was completely gone as his suit had more tears all over.

"Never better," Spider-Man said as he leaned to his side and spat out some blood through his torn mask. He looked over and saw the horn on the ground as he limped to it and picked it up. While he held it he couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. Instinctively he looked over to wear he had Loki tied up and noticed that his webbing was cut through and Loki was gone. "Well that can't be good."

"Go." Diana said as she unwrapped her lasso from her waist "I will deal with Ares!" She said as Ares lunged at them and she quickly wrapped the lasso around his neck and began to drag him around before leaping into the air and slamming him into the ground.

Spider-Man whistled as he held the horn and danced around the golems. It didn't take long for him to find the fiery redhead Artemis. She was in the middle of slicing through the undead Golems like nothing. Spider-Man noticing that she was slowly being overwhelmed leapt into action. He slid under a golem gaining its attention. Giving her enough time to slice through the rest of the ones that were gaining on her location.

"I did not need your assistance!" Artemis growled, Spider-Man rolled his eyes as he clenched his side and fell to a knee.

"I know...Sorry force of habit." he said with a pained cough. Artemis looked taken back for a moment. "Here...a present" He said as he gave her the horn. Spider-Man stood back up, ignored the sharp pain coming from his side, probably a broken rib or maybe three.

"Where are you going?" Artemis asked

"Loki is missing. Probably going after the Norn stone, I'm gonna make sure that he doesn't get it." Peter said as he took off in a full sprint to the building where the Norn Stone was being kept. Artemis had a small smile form on her face as she watched Spider-Man run off after Loki.

The muffled yells and clashing of metal to bone could be heard off in the distance, Peter made his way to the steps of one of the greek buildings next to the palace. Entering through the doors he saw Loki move towards the stone, he ran in and tried to use his webs, but was met with the sound of them shooting air. Forgetting that he was out of web fluid he moved fast and charged at the god of mischief. He landed behind him getting his attention.

"Why are you working for Ares?" Spider-Man asked as they circled each other with the Norn Stone in between them.

"Me?! Work for that Olympian barbarian!" Loki shouted in mock humor "Please...I am the one who stole the horn in the first place."

"Why not use it yourself then? Why let Ares be the one to use it?" Spider-Man said. Slowly inching himself closer to the Norn stone, trying to keep Loki distracted.

"The plans of gods are of no business to a mortal." Loki said. Their eyes remained fixed on each other. Both of them waiting for their moment to strike and make a play for the stone. Spider-Man twitched his finger as he noticed the shift in weight in Loki's stance. Signalling that he was ready to make a grab for it, Spider-Man decided to take the first move. About to rush in he felt his spider sense buzz, suddenly Loki disappeared from in front of him. His laughter was the only thing that filled the room. Pausing he let his senses guide him, he's fought Mysterio enough times to know what Loki was planning. The only difference between the two is that Loki's magic is real. Leaping to the side just in time to dodge an attack from the God of Mischief staff. He flipped in the air and landed on his feet, but not getting a second to think of what to do next he was forced to react to his spider sense again. He did a backflip dodging more blasts from his staff; he did another Loki was everywhere and nowhere at the same time.

"If you give up now Man of Spiders I promise to make your death less painful than I initially had planned." Loki's voice filled the room. It was impossible to tell where he was. Peter knew that he was being distracted from his main target, and slowly being led away from it. But there wasn't much he could do, he was out of web fluid and his cuts and bruises were slowly catching up to him. But hearing the sounds of the amazons and golems fighting each other outside. Well he had a great responsibility to live up to. If there is one thing that he could do to turn the tables…

"Ohh I get it Loki." Peter said. As he clicked his tongue and patted his chin with his finger. "You just knew Ares was a better man for the job...He's the Han Solo to your Chewbacca. Actually I would say you are more of a Jawa."

"What are you rambling on about you insignificant irritating."

"Ohh you know...just how you make other people do your dirty work because you know if you tried to do it wouldn't last very long" Spider-Man said. He dashed towards the Norn stone and was rewarded with his spider sense once again going haywire.

"How can you possibly hope to win?" Loki said in triumph "I am a god and you are nothing but an insect."

"You keep saying that but I'm pretty sure I keep winning. I mean barely, but I'll take what I can get!"

He leaped into the air doing a flip then another and another as he expertly dodged Loki's attacks. But ended up in front of the Norn stone, he reached his hand out and grabbed it but was instantly met with Loki appearing in front of him. Almost at the same time their hands met and in a flash of white that encased the entire room.

"Not again..."

They were gone...
