Chapter 3

"Unannounced dorm inspection?" came the sound of Aido's voice and the twins were snoring in Takuma's lap. They liked to sleep on collected few people's lap due to the lack of pillows on the sofa.

"I see. Thank you, Seiren!" said Kaname and mentioned girl bowed to him.

"Geez, you never know what the headmaster is planning to do." complained Ruka.

"Fine by me. It's not like there's anything that we don't want him to see." said Shiki in a nonchalant tone.

"That's right. When it's a spur of the moments, you can see how things are usually." said Takuma as if there's nothing wrong with his room.

"Ichijou-san… You didn't put away the underwear you left on the floor." Reminded Shiki the unbothered vice-dorm president. How he knew that, the Night Class didn't want to know.

"It's alright. They are silk of the highest quality, sewn by a top tailor. Those underpants could be left anywhere and I wouldn't embarrassed." ranted Takuma and during the speech the models grabbed each twin, being scared for them. Sometimes his strange comments like that alarmed them and wanted the two sleeping boys to stay normal. They grabbed them in case Takuma's strangeness was contagious. Kaname was eternally curious how two D Class vampires earned the affection of the two monotone nobles.

"That's not the problem, is it?" asked Ruka in disbelief.

The others saw Aido and Kain leave but didn't comment it. They looked at the sleeping figures and decided to let them sleep longer. An angry and tired Toshi was equal to a normal pureblood.

Let me explain that a bit. The twins couldn't sleep without each other and when they really wake up they are active in an instant. Toshi wakes up easier, so Hiro wakes up too. If you wake either of them up earlier than usual, you get a grumpy and sad Hiro, which enrages Toshi. Toshi hates waking up early, and combining that with a sad Hiro is equal to a suicide mission. That said, it's best to let them sleep a bit longer. They all knew they only used their room for sleeping and that they have a strict and clean night routine, so their room is almost spotless. Takuma always cleaned up the small things but he never had a time consuming job with the room's cleanness.

But as they later realized, they wouldn't wake up even if they tried. The twins slept so deeply they didn't wake up to Aido's painful shout, which irritated them a lot normally. They admired the boys for this ability.

-Time skip: disciplinary committee arrival-

The twins didn't have anything to do, so they waited for the two guardians in front of the Moon Dorm. They hid in the trees, to surprise their friend but decided not to jump on him when they heard the girl ask him about something he hid in his pockets. He didn't want to show it to her so she tricked him and stole it. This made them angry so they appeared behind the girl and took the container of the blood pills. She looked at them and saw the look of two angry vampires.

(They looked her with Yato's angry face from Noragami with red eyes instead of blue.)

Her heart skipped a beat and fear started to creep under her skin. She always saw them as the most laidback people she'd ever met. They never got angry. But this time they stared at her as if she committed a sin against them. As she looked at Zero she saw anger and betrayal in his eyes and felt a little guilty and worried. The lilac-eyed guardian left without a word after nodding at the two males. The girl wanted to run after him, but the hold on her hand was tight. She was about to ask Hiro to let her go but the boy was faster.

"If I were you I would leave him alone. You didn't only just invade his privacy, but you were also insensitive with your question. You see, this is how we know you would never understand him completely. If you even understand him at all." said the younger brother.

"I do unders –" wanted to object the girl but Toshi cut in.

"Do you? How are you so sure? Do you even know what happened to him 4 years ago? The whole story?" asked the older boy.

"Of course I –" answered the girl instinctively, but stopped when she realized that in fact she didn't know the whole story. She knew bits and bits but not the whole story. The siblings noticed this and frowned.

"See? If you don't even know that then you will NEVER understand him. Now leave before we do something we regret." Hiro said and let Yuuki go. They had a feeling that she wouldn't listen to them but if they went further they would be punished by the resident pureblood severely. They entered the dorm and Kaname was already waiting for them along with the inner circle. Aido looked especially smug. Kain and the models were a bit worried for their friends. Takuma hoped that they will get a reasonable punishment maximum.

"Toshihiro, Yasuhiro. I understand that protective instincts kick in but try to avoid accidents like this again." warned the pureblood. He didn't know what made the siblings get so close to the hunter, but he didn't like it.

"Sorry, Kuran-sama. But if someone taught her the definition of privacy, we wouldn't have done that. (Hiro) And you can punish us as much as you want for talking back to you, but she should grow up at least enough to know when to shut up and leave things alone. She is too used to getting answers immediately.(Toshi)" said the twins and felt a stinging sensation on their cheeks.

"Watch your mouth when you talk about her." said Kaname angrily. His eyes screamed murder. The audience winced, including Hanabusa, even if he hated the twins.

"We only say what we think about her honestly. We are sorry if it makes you angry, Kuran-senpai, but we don't lick your boots like others on campus. We listen to you because of your blood status, not because we respect you as much as others do. If that earns punishment, so be it." Said Toshi angrily. Kaname knew his judgement was clouded, so took a deep breath and sighed.

"Go to your rooms and only leave for eating or prime necessities until I say otherwise." Ordered the brown haired male. The others sighed in relief. They expected a more serious punishment for talking back. Although normally they wouldn't hear Toshi talk back, but the early waking and protective instincts made him edgy. That made them wonder just how close the boys were to the male prefect.

The twins didn't even excuse themselves and left to their room. None of them saw the two for the remaining of the day.

The next day the twins didn't come out of their room even right before Class exchange. When a few vampires asked Kaname about that, he just said they are not in the right mind-set to join classes that day even though they were let out of their room.

-With the twins: (two days later) a few hours after class-

The boys decided to stroll around the school at night and coincidentally they saw Yuuki and Zero hugging. It looked like Zero was about to leave the campus altogether, considering his bag on the floor. They heard the exchanged words and something seemed to click in Zero. Then when they heard Yuuki saying those cheesy things and honeyed words, they saw red and couldn't watch any longer. They stormed back into their room and didn't stop for the very few vampires who wanted to know what their problem was. Even Aido was worried for a moment and tried to talk to them but he was ignored too. The pureblood saw that and waited until they stopped. When they entered their room he knocked on their door.

"Toshihiro, Yasuhiro. Open the door!" he ordered and after a few moments, he was let in. The two boys looked agitated and angry. "What made you this angry?" he asked them perfectly calmly.

"Your precious Yuuki is so naïve. She says honeyed words and sweet promises only because she understood a small part of Zero. Her sweetness makes me sick." said Toshi and paced around the room. Kaname was about to say something but Hiro beat him to it.

"Don't deny it, Kaname-sama. She is naïve and doesn't understand half the things a vampire goes through. If you want to involve her in your life, you have to toughen her up, senpai. She won't survive the first night in the vampire community if she stays like this beside you." said the younger boy. This made Kaname stop.

"Kaname-sama, we can see that she's dear to you, but if she doesn't change it will kill her. We are not saying that to go against you. We say these things to warn you that her mind-set will be the end of her." explained Toshi further. Kaname just looked at them and turned to the door, leaving them to calm down and for him to think about the twins' opinions. The other night class students heard most of the 'fight' and couldn't place the twins in their minds anywhere. The boys were frustrated and worried at the same time about someone they seemed to hate at least a little.
