Three old ladies knit the sock of death
"What the hell is that supposed to mean?" Annabeth asks
I was used...teacher since Christmas.
"The mist is a powerful thing." Athena muses.
Every so often. . . I was psycho.
"That's 'cause you are, Perce," Nico says, solemnly.
"Well, if I am then you definitely are." He shoots back.
It got so. . .he was lying.
"Grover!" Annabeth groans in exasperation.
"It's not my faULT!"
"I'm gonna give you lessons, I swear," Hermes mutters.
Something was going on. Something had happened at the museum.
"No, really?" Clarisse asks, sarcastically
I didn't have. . . a cold sweat.
"I hate that," Percy mutters. The other demigods are quick to agree. Nightmares and visions were something they all had experience with - no matter how old they were.
The freak weather continued. . . Atlantic that year.
"Damn," Hephaestus murmurs. The Gods frowned, shifting uncomfortably. If it was going on for this long, something was happening, and it caused enough for concern.
I started feeling. . . almost every class.
"You'd have to be pretty strongly connected to the ocean for it to affect you that much." Athena considers.
"He is." snorts Annabeth.
Finally, when our. . .it sounded good.
Annabeth lets out a giggle.
"What does that mean? I never did find out."
"A drunk person." She said, causing everyone else to laugh.
The headmaster sent. . .to Yancy Academy.
"That sucks," Beckendorf says
"Eh," Percy shrugs, "Wasn't the first time. And it certainly wasn't the last."
Fine, I told. . . stupid poker buddies.
Percy's friends shoot him questioning looks, but he offers no explanation.
When Annabeth raises an eyebrow at Percy he shakes his head, "Not Paul."
And yet...a little strange.
Percy grins at Grover and slings an arm over his shoulders, "I'm glad you're the one thing that stuck around."
Grover blushes but grins back, "Me too."
I worry how. . .could do well.
"Yeah, that's hard to find. Not a lot of teachers have that." Rachel says
"Especially if you have ADHD and dyslexia." Will agrees
As exam week. . . to believe him.
"Good." Poseidon murmurs.
The evening before. . . my dorm room.
"You should treat your school material better -" Athena starts, but Percy just rolls his eyes.
"Yeah, got it, whatever. Also, this was in the past."
Words had started ... were riding skateboards.
"I felt that on a molecular level." Leo nods solemnly. Percy snorts, "Also, kudos to you for being able to put that into words."
"Seriously, though." Katie agrees.
There was no. . . Chiron and Charon
"You know the difference now," Annabeth says, low enough that only Grover and Percy heard.
"Yeah, because that's exactly what I wanted."
or Polydictes and. . . inside my shirt.
"I hate that feeling," Travis says. Connor nods.
"You only hate it because you know what it actually feels like," Chris says, with a glint in his eyes, "Because you've pissed off the Demeter cabin so many times." Demeter grins and offers Katie a high-five, which she takes, surprised.
"That's not the only reason why." He protests weakly.
I remembered Mr. Brunner's. . . about Percy, sir."
"Uh - oh." sings Apollo
I froze. I'm not usually an eavesdropper,
"Oh, really?" Thalia asks, "What about that one time when Chir-"
"Shhh!" Percy interrupts, "That's unimportant."
but I dare you to try not listening if you hear your best friend talking about you to an adult.
"Okay. Fair point." She concedes
I inched closer.. . to mature more."
"Well, you'll be waiting for a while." Annabeth teases. Percy wrinkles his nose at her.
"But he may not have time. The summer solstice deadline- "
"Summer solstice deadline?" The Gods exchange glances again, wondering what could be happening.
"Will have to . .. choked with emotion.
Thalia shifted, pulling Grover into a side hug, "It wasn't your fault."
"You Know what . . . what she was.
Thalia sighed.
Now let's just . . . with a thud.
"Smooth, Kelp head."
Mr. Brunner went . . .an archer's bow.
Annabeth cocked her head to the side, "Why would he have his arrow out?"
"I think the fu- Kindly One made him paranoid," Grover explained
"Understandable," Percy mutters
I opened the . . . the winter solstice."
"So we've got a summer solstice deadline and something happened on the winter solstice," Athena says, filing away the info.
"Mine neither," Grover . . . read my expression,
"Doesn't work like that, Perry."
Percy sighs, "I know that know."
"...Perry?" Hazel wonders
"It's a thing he does. Don't ask." Percy grins
and started getting . . . kind of danger.
"Usually," Percy grumbles
The next afternoon, as I was leaving the three-hour Latin exam,
"Three hours?!" The kids ask.
"Dude, I can barely sit through one," Travis mutters
"It was awful." Percy says, shaking his head, "And I'm never gonna do it again."
my eyes swimming . . . for the best."
The demigods wince.
"Yeah, he's not good at talks," Thalia says, remembering how, on multiple occasions, it would've been better for him to say nothing at all.
His tone was . . . with her lips.
"Ew."
I mumbled, "Okay, . . . get kicked out.
"Yikes. Yeah, not uh, not great." Katie murmurs, sympathetically.
"Right," I said,. . . not normal, Percy.
"Thank the Gods for that." Pipergrins.
"Literally," Leo mumbles, glancing at Poseidon.
That's nothing to . . . family of nobodies.
The people on the couches sniggered at the Gods' indignant expressions.
"Not quite." Poseidon hums.
They asked me . . . in the fall.
"Why would you need a job?" Silena asks. Percy shrugs but doesn't quite provide an answer.
"Oh," one of . . . I'd never existed.
"Rude." Hazel sniffs.
The only person . . . into the city.
"Stalker, much?" Connor asks
Grover blushes, "I - No, I was just - oh, shut up." He tells Percy, who's laughing at him.
During the whole . . . for Kindly Ones?"
"Way to give a goat a heart attack," Grover grumbles. Percy sends him an unapologetic grin.
Grover nearly jumped . . . solstice deadline?"
"That's what we want to know," Jason says.
He winced. "Look, . . . really bad liar."
"What we've been trying to tell you." Hermes tsks.
His ears turned . . .my dyslexic eyes,
Dionysus chuckles from behind his magazine and the demigods turned to him.
"Why is it in cursive?" Annabeth asks
"You'd be surprised how entertaining it is watching people struggle."
"Oh come on." Aphrodite huffs, "That's just mean." Dionysus shrugs and she sniffs, "Well. I'll change it then, how about that?"
Silena shoots her mom a grateful smile as the other demigods hide their grins.
but I finally . . .others at Yancy.
"That's not what I meant!" Grover yelped
Percy smiles at him, "Yeah, I know that, now."
"Okay," I said. .. I need you?"
"Percy!" Silena scolds
Percy winces, "I didn't mean that. I do need you. For lots of things."
Grover grins, "Thanks."
It came out harsher than I meant it to.
Silena sighs, "Least you're somewhat apologetic."
Grover blushed right . . . year without me.
"Awww!" Aphrodite coos, "That's so sweet."
Percy blushes and Grover sends him a grateful smile.
And here he . . . protecting me from?"
"Everything." Travis deadpans.
There was a . . . like rotten eggs.
"Ew." Katie mumbles
The driver cursed . . . to get off.
"Dumb New York buses," Rachel says
Grover and Percy exchange glances knowing that, for once, this time it wasn't just badly made public transit.
Grover and I . . . old-fashioned fruit stand.
"That's. . .really random," Annabeth mutters.
"I have a bad feeling about this." Poseidon agrees.
The stuff on . . . I'd ever seen.
"Big socks," Connor comments
I mean these . . .bleached cotton dresses.
Everyone sucks in a collective breath, recognizing the fates.
The weirdest thing was, they seemed to be looking right at me.
"Oh - no," Poseidon says
I looked over . . . would fit me?"
"Not funny, Perce," Beckendorf mutters anxiously
"Not funny, Percy. . .catch his breath.
The occupants of the room did the same
"We're getting on . . . I stayed back.
"Di immortals. You're an idiot." Thalia says
Across the road. . . lanes of traffic.
"No." His friends breathed.
"How are you still alive?" Apollo asks
Percy wished there was a way he could tell them that it wasn't his yarn - but he had a feeling even if they believed him, the fates wouldn't let him. There was a reason they showed him that string, he just needed to figure out why.
Her two friends . . .Sasquatch or Godzilla.
There was a forced tense laughter throughout the room, the occupants of the room glad that there was something to relieve at least a fraction of the tension.
At the rear . . . yelled the driver.
"Yeah, now it works," Rachel grumbles.
He slapped the . . .teeth were chattering.
"Why are they acting like that?" Katie asks, nervously.
"That tends to happen if you see the fates. Seeing old, powerful deities like that doesn't exactly leave you unaffected." Demeter explains
"Grover?" "Yeah?" "What are you not telling me?"
Percy snorts, getting a few looks from his friends.
He dabbed his . . . than Mrs. Dodds.
"Yeah, no kidding," Reyna says
He said, "Just. ..something almost - older.
"Observant, much?" Frank asks.
"And yet so oblivious at the same time." Rachel sighs.
He said, "You . . .the last time."
"Is this gonna be a thing, Grover?" Thalia asks
"Um. . . no..?" He tries
"Yes," Percy says
"What last time?". . .to scare me.
"Yeah, for good reason." Percy grumbles, "And you wonder why I did what I did."
"Sorry." Grover grimaces.
"What are you . . .promised he could.
Grover snorts. Lotta good that promise did.
"Is this like . . . going to die?"
"Definitely perceptive." Athena muses.
He looked at . . . on my coffin.
"You're not really helping, Grover."
"I'm sorry."
"Yeah, he's already freaked out, I don't think-"
"I'm sorry!"
Annabeth sighs, fidgeting with the hem of her shirt, "Who wants to read next?"
"I will." Reyna offers.
