This is the longest chapter I've done so far, guess I'm getting used to writing again.
(Two days later)
Sarafina woke up in the middle of the night as if something seems to be bothering her, she looked around the main den, Simba and her best friend Sarabi are in their usual spot past asleep as well as the other lionesses but when she looked at her side where Nala sleeps she didn't see her, very unusual since she doesn't get up or stay up this late plus she shouldn't stay up, she's pregnant and her pregnancy is at high risk, she needs rest. Sarafina got up to find her daughter, she looked everywhere, from the tip of Pride Rock to the caves surrounding it but had no luck of finding her, Sarafina thought she went to the waterhole but before she'd go there, there's only one place she hadn't checked.
Sarafina found her daughter at the top of Pride Rock looking up at the stars, "She shouldn't be up here", she whispered to herself, they weren't really allowed here, this is like a sacred place where the members of the Royal family go to consult help to the Great King's of the past, it is also where the king teaches his cub about the Pridelands.
Nala told her she'll tell Simba tomorrow so maybe she needed a little bit of time and space to prepare, whatever it is Nala can handle it she thought so she retreated to give her daughter the time and space she needs until-
"I know you're there mom", Nala spoke which caught Sarafina off guard, she hasn't done anything for Nala to notice her but she's not surprised since her daughter is the best huntress out of all of the lionesses, her senses are stronger than most lionesses, but she's recently told the others that she won't be joining in a few days although she didn't tell the others the real reason why she suddenly decided to take a break on what she's good at.
Sarafina approached her, "Why are you up here late in the evening?, you should be sleeping, you need it for th-", she insisted concerned knowing Nala's pregnancy is sensitive.
"The cub...I know mom, we're going to be fine as long as I don't do anything stressful or vigorous, I just wanted to look at the stars for a while, I've been pretty bored since I haven't been joining the hunting party this last two days and I've slept all afternoon don't worry", Nala interrupted her mother.
"Alright then, I'll be going back to slept now honey and don't be long", Sarafina nuzzled her daughter.
Nala stayed silent for a while but she wanted her mother here, she needs someone to talk to, "Uh...mom?".
Sarafina stopped and turned, "Yes?"
Nala continued, "Can you stay with me?, I just need someone to talk to"
"Of course honey, anytime" Sarafina gladly accepts sitting by her daughter's side.
Nala started to talk after a few seconds of silence, "I don't know if I should tell you this but Rafiki told me the cub's a boy", she smiled.
Sarafina didn't ask how Rafiki found out about the cub's gender in such an early stage or at all, she shrugs it off since shamans has a lot of secrets. "That's great honey, it's also the first time in our family history that the first-born is a male, through generations it's always been a girl, from our great-great grandmothers to me", she smiled happily.
"Really?, I never knew that", Nala said surprised, she thought she just made history in her ancestry, although she also thought it came from Simba's side of the family since the first-born cubs of every generation of the Royal family has always been a boy. Nala added, "Maybe it came from Simba's side"
"Maybe", Sarafina responded, she didn't want to add anything else about Simba since they fought over the subject, don't get her wrong, she doesn't hate Simba for any reason, she just don't want to argue with her daughter again.
Nala decided to changed the topic, since her mother seems to not be in the mood, "Mom", Sarafina looked at her attentively, "Do you think I'd ever get to meet mine and Mheetu's Dad?", she sighed.
Sarafina reminisced, breathing trying not to let the tears fall remembering her mate, her Hairi. Hairi left shortly after Nala was born, he left because he said wanted to experience what it's like to be a rogue, what's it's like to be independent, he said he wanted to find himself and promised her that he will come back, 4 years have past but he still hasn't returned like he promised, he left not knowing he had another cub with Sarafina, Nala's brother Mheetu, who is now also a rogue because Scar vanished him when he was just a year and a half old, Mheetu also promised his mother and sister that he will find his father and come back to save the Pridelands but like his father, he still hasn't returned, Sarafina could only wish he will always be safe wherever he is.
"I...I'm sorry mom I was just curious about him, don't worry I won't ask anything about him again", Nala took back her question seeing how her mother change her expression.
"No, it's fine Nala, he's your father, you have the right to know something about him", Sarafina insisted, "All I can say is that you're a lot like him, brave, outgoing, courageous and strong, after all you're his daughter", Nala smiled after learning she's a lot like her dad.
Sarafina added, "And I still have hope he will come back even after all these years he hasn't, and I want him to see you and Mheetu all grown up when your brother comes back, he also needs to know he's going to be a grandfather", Sarafina grinned a little to lighten up the mood.
Nala smirked, "I hope he does soon, I have a lot of questions to ask and time to spend with him".
"I hope so, we all miss him", Sarafina said, "I miss him so much", she whispered to herself.

The next morning, Simba walks out of the den to find Nala, it's his day off according to Zazu and he too gave Zazu a day of rest, he has to tell Nala something important but he couldn't find her, "She's always off Pride Rock, strange", he whispered noticing Nala is always gone whenever he wakes up like she's avoiding him, he walked up to Sarafina who is resting just above a platform.
"Sarafina, have you seen Nala?, I need to talk to her", he asked.
Sarafina turned to him, "Oh right, she's at the river, she also told me to inform you to go there, she's also meaning to talk to you", she smiled.
"Uhmm...Okay, thank you Sarafina", Simba replied curious, Sarafina nodded.
Simba made his way to the river right down the path to Rafiki's tree, he remembered the river is also one of Nala's favorite places when they were cubs, she likes to be the water but she doesn't like to be in the water, Simba grinned also recalling the time when he pulled Nala in the water when she found him in the jungle, truly magical he thought.
He reached the river and saw Nala watching the water flow, her back was turned towards Simba so she didn't see him come and the river's sound is loud enough that she can't quite hear him come and so Simba walked towards her side, "Hey there", giving her a friendly nuzzle.
Nala returned the nuzzle, "Simba", then they separated. Simba added, "I have something to inform you about", his voice is shaking a bit but not that noticeable, "Your mother also told me you want to talk to me"
Nala sighed, "Right, I have something to tell you too"
"Well, since we both have something to tell each other, why won't we say it at the same time?", Simba suggested.
Nala agreed, "Sure, in a count of three"
"1...2...3", Both counted like little cubs.
"I'm pregnant with your cub", Nala said at the same time with Simba
"I'm denouncing our betrothal", Simba said with Nala.
Their eyes widened hearing what each other said, Simba asked shocked, "You're...you're pregnant with my cub?"
Nala didn't answer immediately, her heart broke when she heard what Simba said, he doesn't love her that's why he's cancelling their betrothal, "He probably found another lioness that he loves", she tried not to let a tear fall, but she told him she's pregnant with his cub, she has to deny it.
"No, I...I mean I'm pregnant with a rogue's cub, you heard it wrong", she lied, it's no use, he doesn't love her.
Simba protested, "Nala, I'm not deaf, I heard you say it's my cub"
Nala sighed, "Then yes, I am pregnant with you cub, but forget that I ever mentioned it, I can raise HIM on my own" she said emphasizing the word 'him'.
"What do you mean?", Simba asked what Nala meant, he also heard her say 'him', maybe she's pregnant with a boy but Simba didn't even bother asking about the cub's gender, wondering why Nala became so upset is more important.
Nala scoffed, "Didn't you just say you're cutting off our supposed betrothal?, that means you're not taking me as your queen. I totally understand you Simba, I know you have the right to choose your queen and I'm not gonna stop you just because I'm pregnant with your son", she stated trying not to break down, she loves him but she has no right, he's the king and she's just an ordinary lioness.
Simba said calmly, "Nala that's not what I meant-"
Nala interrupted, "It's alright Simba, don't worry I'm going to take good care of our cub", she turned to leave but as she does, she felt a wave of dizziness and strong tightening on her abdomen, she winced in pain tightly closing her eyes but before she knew it, she passed out hitting the ground.
"Nala!", Simba ran towards her unconscious body, and he remembered that there might be something that has to do with the cub, "It and Nala could be in danger...no the cub is a boy Simba, my son and Nala could be in danger", he shook his head, "Enough blabbing, act Simba, time is running!", he talked to himself panicking.
"I need to take her to Rafiki", he picked her up gently placing her at his back and bring her to Rafiki, "Be strong Nala, be strong for our cub."
A/N
I put up a sweet little moment between Nala and Sarafina because they've been having a bit of tension in the last chapter, and if any of you are confused Nala told Sarafina about her risky pregnancy off the story, I just didn't have time to do it, to add to that I've been giving Sarafina a bit of a more significant role in this story cause of y'all know her tiny appearance in the first film and a little background of Nala's father, her father's name is Hairi in this story.
I'm gonna stop talking now lol
