As Madelyn ran down the steps to the hall of the New York Institute, she noticed that there were a huge number of shadowhunters outside. "Oh, there you are!" a beautiful girl with lush brown hair exclaimed to Will. She had hazel-brown eyes, had full red lips. She had a layer of makeup on, but a pair of vicious-looking long swords were strapped to her belt. She wore her gear a little differently, such that it looked like a dress with leather boots. "You must be Madelyn." she said, her gaze flicking to Madelyn. "Where's Isabelle, Alice?" Will asked, impatiently. "Mother's in the infirmary. The Silent Brothers just went in, I think. Dad went with them too." Alice was Isabelle and Simon's daughter, Madelyn guessed. Will nodded and ran back to the Institute, pausing briefly to say something to Clary, to which Clary nodded. "Will cares immensely for his parents, though it's Clary and Jace we're talking about. They are legendary shadowhunters from history, you know." Alice said abruptly, after a long moment of silence. "Oh, how rude of me. I'm Alice!" she said, with forced optimism. "Madelyn." Madelyn replied, trying to muster some delight. "I can tell your worried though you hardly know my mother. She's Isabelle Lovelace, by the way." Alice said, looking away. Madelyn could tell she was on the verge of breaking. "Alice, I know you just met me, but you don't have to put walls around you. I know you're distressed, and don't hesitate to talk to me. It helps, truly." Madelyn said, and added, "I have personal experience." "Ah well. Will trusts you, so I might as well trust you too." Alice finally said, turning around to face Madelyn. For the first time, she noticed the parabatia rune on Alice's neck. "Who's you're parabatia?" Madelyn asked, genuinely curious. Alice touched her rune tentatively, like it was a regular habit. "Will." she said. "But I bet you already knew that and were just trying to make a conversation." Madelyn was taken aback, though she didn't know why. Will had told her that he had a parabatia, and he also mentioned it was a girl. Honestly, she hadn't even expected it. The two hadn't even hinted it. "I didn't know. " Madelyn said. "Alice! You're mom is asking for you!" Clary said, bounding down a flight of steps. The surprise and relief was clear on her face, as she wiped tears that escaped from her eyes. At that moment, Will came out of the infirmary. "Madelyn, can we talk?" he asked. Madelyn nodded, and tried not show her surprise. He pulled her to the study and closed the door. "I know I'm acting suspicious but, what demons did you fight at the Boston Institute?" he asked, placing his hands on a long table which she assumed was where the Conclave sat during meetings. "Räum demons." she said, sitting on one of the chairs. "There were traces of poison in Isabelle's blood." Madelyn gasped, involuntarily. "But Räum demons don't have poison. And they don't attack in the day, right? No demon does." she said. "It's happened once. Khora demons under a big grey cloud. They were under orders of a Prince of Hell." he said, rubbing the back of his neck. "Belial. He has some connection with your family, right?" Madelyn asked. "I think so. Though I doubt my father knows much about it. I'll ask Tessa. She was a Herondale after all." Will stood up. "Will she recover?" Madelyn asked. "Who? Isabelle? She will." Will said, firmly. "I'll ask Tessa to come to the Institute. Even Jem. They could be help"

Will loved the rooftop of the Institute. He sat at the edge of a wall, his legs dangling. He raked his already messy hair. He had called Tessa and asked them to come to the Institute. It had been about 10 mins since he had called them. Then he heard a ripping noise. He whirled around, brandishing a seraph blade. "Mikeal." he said, naming the seraph blade. It is necessary that a seraph blade is named, to be activated. There was not a soul insight. But there was something wrong. Suddenly, the world flickered before his eyes. No. It can't be. Without warning, the world turned into a parched, barren land, extending forever. The skies were a sickly shade of yellow. There were birds circling the skies. Birds? Will scrawled a Far-sighted rune on his arm and strained his eyes. They were definitely not birds…..demons. Flight demons circling the sky. Something clicked in his brain. Edom. He was in Edom. Azazel's realm. But what did Azazel want with him? Wouldn't Belial want revenge? Deep in his thoughts, he didn't notice the rotting stench that was growing stronger. Then, Will heard the roar.

"Madelyn. Can you call Will?" Jace said, as he approached her. "Tess's here. I think he asked her to come." Jace's stride was so graceful, full of purpose. He had always had an aura of confidence, as he walked. "He might be on the rooftop." he said. "Like father, like son." Clary said, appearing out of thin air, next to Jace's shoulder. Jace gave Clary a smile full of affection, only to pull Clary and kiss her. Their love was so strong and both of them were full of the kind of love that she saw in her own parents. The irreplaceable kind of love. She turned away, the moment was intimate. "I'll go." she said, and gave them a hearty smile, trying not show the pain she felt. She saw flashes of the battle at the Boston Institute. She made her way to the rooftop, hastily. She pushed the door to the open rooftop. The wind blew at her face, whipping her untied hair. She walked upto to the wall, looking for Will. Then, all of a sudden, an invisible force pulled her in.

Will spun around, revealing a wave of Gorgon demons. He pulled another seraph blade and activated it. "Come on, corrupt demons. Lemme show you what you're up against." Then, they attacked. He twirled his seraph blades expertly, slashing, cutting and stabbing demon after demon. They didn't disintegrate like they did back on Earth. Edom being their home land, they just fell to the ground, wounded. Soon, Will was surrounded by countless corpses. But they kept coming. Suddenly, Madelyn appeared out of nowhere, like the angels had answered his prayers. Not that he had prayed. He could handle himself. She looked completely disoriented. But despite everything, she looked dazzling. Her obsidian hair cascade down her shoulders till her waists. Her gear looked stark against her ivory skin. "By the Angel…" she said, and then noticed Will. "Will….Wha… What are you doing here?" he shrugged. "Same as you." he replied, side-stepping a demon and scathing it. "So you don't know…..Fine, I'll stop being useless." she said, pulling put her swords that he gave her. "Good choice."
