That's, that isn't possible." Kagome said nervously. "I took a pill right afterwards that is supposed to stop this from happening. No, you're wrong!"

She pointed an accusing finger at him as Inuyasha crossed his arms over his chest and sighed.

"So, who you been messing around with? Obviously a demon from the smell."

"Oh my god, you can tell!"

"Yup. A very strong demon." Inuyasha said. "Which is why whatever you tried to do didn't work."

If she hadn't already been on the ground her legs would have given out on her as she wrapped her arms around herself.

"Listen, it's not like you and I are really anything beyond friends. I'm upset and hurt but more so that you didn't tell me about this."

"I didn't know that I was."

"I can see that." Inuyasha sat next to her. "What I don't understand is when you had the time."

"The night of the blood moon." Kagome said. "I came through the well and there was a demon there. He was controlled by the moon somehow. There was a barrier set up so I couldn't get to the village and every time I tried to run away he caught me."

"Why in the hell didn't you say anything?"

"I was embarrassed, I guess. A little ashamed."

"You're lucky you escaped with your life." He pulled her to him in a tight hug.

"Inuyasha..."

"This, this is my fault. I should have been there to protect you." He whispered. "Kagome."

"It's not your fault Inuyasha. Don't blame yourself."

"Did you know the demon that did this to you?" Kagome tensed at his words.

"I can't. I swore I'd never say."

"I won't tell anyone Kagome. Promise."

"Don't get mad."

"I already told you, I don't blame you."

"At the demon I meant. You have to swear to me that you will not go after him."

"Okay, I won't."

Kagome took a deep breath and felt tears spring to her eyes.

"It's Sesshomaru." She buried her face into his robe and felt him tremble against her as he tightened his embrace.

"You can't stay here like this." Inuyasha said his voice thick. "Kagome, I don't know what he'll try to do to you and I don't know if I'll be able to protect you."

"I can't go home."

"Kagome, Sesshomaru might kill you." He said bluntly pulling her away from him and staring into her eyes.

"Inuyasha, if I go to my era and have a half breed, like a puppy, they'll take it away from me and experiment on it in some lab somewhere." Kagome said. "I mean, I know that here it's taboo but at least it would have a chance if I have to have it."

Inuyasha remained silent. He took deep breaths. He held Kagome to him supportively wanting nothing more than to sniff his aloof half brother out and jam his fist down his hypocritical throat.

"Miroku had the right idea to go back to the village. Maybe Kaede can help." He offered. Kagome sniffled and nodded her head a couple of times.

"I'm so sorry Inuyasha." Kagome whispered. "None of this was planned. Especially now, how am I going to do this?"

"Don't worry about any of that right now." Inuyasha helped her stand making sure she had her balance. "I knew your scent had changed but I thought you just got a different hair wash or something."

Kagome let out a laugh wiping her eyes and shaking her head. "No matter what, I'm here for ya' Kagome."

"Thank you." Kagome leaned on his arm that he offered as they made their way back to their friends.
