Chapter 4 – The stash

Jeremy found himself in an empty kitchen when his phone binged.

You better make this up to me – M

Shit. Jeremy knew he was a little behind on rent and he'd forgotten to buy a loaf of bread or two, but didn't realise that things had gotten so bad. "I brought him a king size twix last week" he thought, would a bad friend do that? He decided to make himself some food the emergency stash of bacon and bread hidden in the frozen pea in the freezer. He was thinking about the bacon while Mark was shouting at him earlier. He almost gave it to him, but Mark had to call him a selfish prick. He wouldn't enjoy is as much a Jeremy would anyway, Mark hates microwaved bread.

Jeremy didn't have any money till his dole came in on Tuesday, he knew Mark had loads of money he could get a take away every night of the week if he wanted. He didn't, no matter how much Jeremy begged. Mark sometimes got him some chips from the chippy, no sauce or bun or fish. Just chips. Jeremy thought that his friend should be more giving and that he would be if you had money. He has an Idea, a way to make it up to Mark and not give him Tuesdays dole money.

Jeremy sat down at the table with his passable bacon sandwich. BANGBANGBANG. He put down the sandwich before taking the bite to answer the door. He tries to look through the spyhole but if been covered. He opened the door. A tall thin man stood wide eye with gritted teeth, he was holding a leash attached to a rabbit that appears to be spray painted pink.

"Ere' Jez. I need your help mate..." Hans twitched and looked over his shoulder

"What with the..." Jeremy started to point towards to rabbit. Hans quickly grabbed his arm.

"ere mate, I cant tell you and you don't want to know" He applied enough pressure to let Jeremy know his wasn't in a questions mood. " So I need a favour, I need you to take this for me, and don't open your door till I come back" "But..." "Look, mate I need you to do this for me, Il be back later alright?" Hans push a small bag of weed into Jeremy hand. "Be good. and if anyone asks I don't know you" The leash now in Jeremy's hand and Hans gone from sight.

Jeremy coaxed the rabbit inside, closed the door and sat on the floor with his back against it, the rabbit coward at his feet, while he lightly stoked it. He started to panic, He didn't know how to take care of a rabbit, what if it shits? He settled on the idea of rabbits are basically hoppy dog and it could be fun.

He rolled a joint and sat on the sofa with his bacon sandwich. He takes fast bites of his sandwiches, sprinkling debris all over his lap. It hadn't gone unnoticed by the rabbit, it was drawn to a large crust, It took a bite. Jeremy jumped up with a start. "Shit my balls" he dropped the joint on the sofa arm and sent the rabbit flying across the living room. Jeremy was focused on sofa and controlling damage to Marks sofa. He grabbed the nearest coaster covered the burn and smiled at his achievement.

His smile quickly faded when he saw that the rabbit is now impaled in the shards of the glass table, It blood dripped on to Mark new cream carpet. Jeremy stood while he tried to problem solve as fast as he could. "I think , I know what to do" He thought and sent Mark a text.
