The four were in a Zoom when they all got their envelopes. Luffy was surprised that Midoriya wanted to join in in case he was rejected. He was really happy about what Luffy had said, though. Apparently, he had the doomsday mindset. Where if he failed this time, he'd never get into this school. He'd never be accepted.

But they all knew that hero schools did that. Sometimes things changed with quirks where they aren't ready at one point but then skyrocket in skill that they get moved to another course, the hero course. It could be done for the other courses. If you're smart enough, you could go from general studies to support or business. So on and so forth. So he was glad he helped sooth his friend.

When they all were there with their envelopes, the decided who went first. Luffy went first, and wasn't surprised when All Might popped out and told him he'd won. He kept the score to himself. He was one below somebody else. Law, Trafalgar Law, was the top of the class, with Luffy second. Interesting! He wasn't so bummed about not being first. Zoro was tied with Luffy with how many bots he'd got, but not point wise. He was after Luffy, then Bakugo, and then Sanji.

Sanji was going to be furious and Bakugo would be, too. At other people. Bakugo would blame others and Sanji would blame himself. But he didn't say the score, just that he'd been accepted. They cheered, though no one was surprised. Then Zoro went, grinning about placing third. "That Law guy got first. Both of you were top of the class, that's really funny."

"You mean a coincidence?" Sanji asked, agreeing with it. Then he looked at his, and swore loudly in rage. Luffy tried to sooth him by saying he could make up for it at the sports festival. He fumed but relented, calming down. Midoriya was sweating, and Luffy told him it was better to get it over with soon.

So he opened it. The other three already knew he made it by looking at the score. When he opened it, he kept his eyes shut at first, but when he was told he passed, he started crying. None of them were surprised. He was easy to make cry, always had been. "We all got in!" Luffy cheered. Zoro said he wished they could drink so they could do that. He sounded bummed about it, and Luffy laughed. Then, once they were done cheering (or crying), Luffy said that they had to help Midoriya with his quirk. He couldn't go to hero school when every time he used it he'd destroy his body.

Midoriya asked how they'd plan to do that. He was curious, and clearly felt grateful and touched that they would help him, even after only just getting back in touch. Zoro said his quirk hurt him at first, throwing him backwards instead of outwards. Sanji said his had also harmed his body. If he made his leg too hard it would be fragile and crack.

Luffy was lucky his never damaged his body besides sometimes cutting himself. He was the most frail looking of them all, based on his size and physique, but he was the most durable. He'd been kicked around or run into things so many times and had not been hurt at all. He only broke a bone when he tried jumping off the roof and into the tree. He broke two ribs. But he'd never been injured in his four arms.

No sprain, broken bone, nothing. He liked to think he was durable, but it always could have just been luck. "We could train at the park we go to to work out. Theres a little training area for us. But you'll have to be careful or a broken bone could put you out all summer," Luffy said. Midoriya's face was hard, but nodded, saying he wouldn't allow himself to break another bone.

Even if his quirk was completely useless, he wouldn't let it hurt himself. The three grinned at his conviction. Maybe the cry baby guy terrified of others would go away now that he wasn't quirkless anymore. Well, Luffy wanted to help him. They'd known one another every year since kindergarten and had always gotten along together, even if Zoro and Sanji were Luffy's best friends.

The next day, they went to the park. Luffy having ran, Zoro and Sanji riding their bikes and Midoriya's mome driving him there. She was very grateful for her son's new friends. Well, friends that went on hiatus for different schools. They set up their things, a ice chest with cold water and food, rope and various things that they suggested they use.

They were all in work out clothes. Luffy wore shorts and a tank top. The shorts really did look ridiculous, but there was nothing to do about it. While he was in a tank top, the others were in more workout-ish clothes and shoes. Of course Luffy had no shoes. It was neither cold or hot, so he didn't need the booties.

"I have a plan! It won't be how to attack or anything. I brought rope for this." He held up a jumping rope. "Midoriya, do you want to strengthen your arms or legs? Which to focus on first?" He looked surprised, like he'd never thought of it like that. Well, they had one guy who only worked with his legs as a quirk, even though he was strong in the upper body as well.

"With your arms, you could lose your ability to fight at all. If you hurt both of them, you can't do anything. If you use your legs, then you can kick, or use the strength to be fast. And if your legs break, you can't walk right, but you can still crawl away or use your hands and arms in any way," Luffy explained.

Midoriya was quiet for a minute, thinking. "I never thought about using it with anything but my arms. But I guess what you're saying does make a lot of sense. Running faster would be good, too. So, I choose my legs." His voice wavered just a little bit, but was mostly strong and decisive.

Luffy held up the rope. "We'll use this. I'll tie one end around your leg, and I'll tie the other around my waist. I'll latch onto the ground, and you'll continuously try to pull me away. Not kick, but pull. Then there's resistance but also restraint." Zoro and Sanji looked impressed with this. Luffy had been thinking about it for days, wanting to help the underdog be on equal terms. He also wanted to see Midoriya not be afraid of Bakugo.

The smallest latched onto the ground, sinking all of his claws into it. When Midoriya started to pull really hard, Zoro stopped him. "This is how it worked well with me. Think about only using percentages. If you break your bones, then that was 100%. So if you try going from one to five, five to ten, etc, you might have less of a chance of breaking anything." Sanji nodded.

Midoriya took a deep breath, and said, "Two percent..." He pulled the leg back, and it made Luffy wobble, but not move. That was good so far, Luffy was really attached to the ground. He went up to five percent, pulling his leg back. Luffy jerked more. "Keep at 5%," Luffy said. He kept pulling, jerking Luffy every time. They spent time at five percent before increasing to eight. This make Luffy go forwards a bit. After that, Luffy grabbed onto their wooden pole that was deeply buried into the ground. He kept at eight percent, which was really strong.

Then, at ten percent Luffy went flying and crashing into him. Though the was light, so didn't do much damage. "Nice!" Sanji said, coming over and picked Luffy up. He wiped his dirty claws on his shorts. "How do you feel?"

He was smiling, but said that his leg was a bit sore. "You know what else might work? What if you don't move at all, but continuously increase the percentage? Then you can get used to the feeling without making any movement."

They spent the next two months training together, mostly focusing on Midoriya and Zoro. Over that time, Midoriya sprained his wrist, but kept improving. Zoro and Sanji weren't charitable people, but it was a longtime friend, and Luffy wanted to help him loosen up and not hate himself, like Luffy had when he was so young.

Midoriya just needed some encouraging friends and a quirk, it seemed, to be more confident in himself. Over all, the simple training was being pulled off well. Kind of like when you start being an exercise junkie, you can't jump into everything at once, but have to build up core strength and such before doing certain things.

Summer was fun, but as the days got less and less before school, the more nervous all of them became. Excited, but nervous. They trained Midoriya as well as they could, him being able to run faster for short periods of time without injuring himself. He was able to kick better, throwing Luffy back. He was the least likely to get hurt and the most likely to land safely.

The new comer to the group always left sore, but came back to work just as hard the next day. When the four of them had their last training session before school started the next day, they left the area and went to get slurpees afterwards. "How do you feel?" Luffy asked Midoriya. He took a deep drink and then said he was nervous, but felt a lot more confident than he did at the entrance exam.

He hadn't broken a single bone, and learned how to use his quirk in low amounts, but stable amounts. The other three grinned, proud of their accomplishments. He then asked why they wanted to help him. Luffy said he had multiple reasons. He honestly said he wanted more friends, and he wanted Midoriya to not be afraid and insecure all the time, or let Bakugo walk all over him.

And he just wanted to help somebody. "I want to be a hero, don't I?" he asked with a smile. Then the freckled one frowned, and asked if they could still be friends. Even though summer training was over. "Of course! It's not like we were just using you to do something fun. Could you honestly see Zoro and Sanji helping anybody just for no real reason? At least, without getting compensation?"

The two tallest ones snorted, and Midoriya acknowledged that it sounded like something they wouldn't do. "I'm glad you guys are my friends." Luffy smiled, and Zoro and Sanji didn't reply, but both were smiling, too. Luffy's phone buzzed, and he looked at it to see that it was getting later. He put his backpack on, and was glad Midoriya was the one to bring the ice chest so they didn't need to carry or ride their bikes with it.

"We'll see each other tomorrow. Don't stay up to late," Luffy said with a grin. Zoro and Sanji snorted, and they went their separate ways. Luffy ran home, wearing the goggles and new headphones from Sabo that clipped inside of his ears and stayed on better. When he got home, a delicious dinner was waiting, with Ace and Sabo there.

He hugged them and they all talked about what to expect the next day while eating a full course meal and multiple desserts. Makino wished one of them wouldn't be heroes, deep down, but she also knew it was their dream and would never try and quash them. Whether she liked it or not, they weren't little kids anymore. Despite Luffy's appearance. But he was glad none of his family babied him for it since he didn't look 15. Maybe ten or eleven.

-x-

Luffy was standing at the steps of the school, waiting for his friends. He got there a lot earlier than they had. He watched people walk past. They must have all been confused with him wearing their uniform. He watched as Law passed him. They made eye contact, both looking confused, but Luffy's attention was brought to his friends arriving.

"Guys!" Midoriya shouted as the other three were at the bike locks since that's how Zoro and Sanji got there. Midoriya was dropped off by his mom. "We're here." He was so happy, and Luffy nodded. Sanji saw the far off look in Luffy's eyes.

"Did you see Law?" Luffy nodded, and said he was just as confused as Law was. He hoped they were in the same class. It would be easier for them to talk if they were in the same room often. He was so curious, why they looked so similar. The difference was in fur color and size. Well, Law's ears weren't floppy, they were upright.

Midoriya was nervous, but they all already knew they were in the same class. When they entered, Luffy already had known the chairs were too big. They sat in the back, Zoro next to him, Midoriya in front and Sanji diagonal. Law sat on the other side of Luffy, since he had that spot before the four friends went in.

Law wasn't even hiding his staring at Luffy, who looked back. But he was brought out his attention when Bakugo demanded to know why Deku was there. His stupid nickname. Midoriya said he was there to be a hero. "You're quirkless!" The class, those who were in it, had their eyebrows raise as they looked at Midoriya. He didn't reply.

Zoro smirked. "You can't walk all over anyone anymore, pussy," he said snarkily to Bakugo. An explosion was made in his hand, as he was very angry. "Did you blow a gasket?" the light green haired teen taunted. A fight was about to break out before an invisible girl asked why a little kid was there. He knew it was a girl by the voice and uniform, though the clothes were all they could see.

"I'm your age, I'm here for the same reason," Luffy said honestly. "I'm Luffy." They must have all remembered his name from the score board, where he was in second place. The same girl as before asked why he looked so young and small. He honestly said nobody knew why he stopped growing at ten years old.

"Damn, that's gotta suck," a guy with very spiky red hair said. Luffy replied he was used to it. "I'm Kirishima." Then everybody went around introducing themselves besides Law, who just silently looked out the window. There were many there who didn't speak, but some were also incredibly talkative.

Luffy wished he could sit normally in the seat, but he couldn't. And his backpack wasn't the right size to sit on top of. He was surprised when Law, who hadn't said a word, handed him his bag. It was pretty flat but thick. "What?" Luffy asked curiously, holding the bag.

"You can't stand in your seat the whole time," he said, sounding grumpy and annoyed. Luffy was surprised, but thanked him, sitting on it. He looked strange in his uniform, but Law looked pretty similar. They were the only two whose sleeves stopped at their elbows and the pants were tight over their fur. Law had shorter fur while Luffy's was a few centimeters longer.

The bag was perfect size, and they didn't speak again. Zoro looked suspicious, however, but said nothing. His fight with Bakugo had finally fizzled out by the time all the seats were filled. There were five others who looked different than the more normal looking students. Shoji, Ashido, Tokoyami, Koda and Law. They all were unique looking.

Luffy wasn't sure if he was actually a transformation or a mutant. He would think both but was that possible? He wasn't sure. Luffy didn't miss one of the girls thinking he was adorable. That would get annoying, probably. Being small was bad enough, but then he had the huge ears and round eyes.

Law wasn't nearly as adorable as Luffy was. His face wasn't round, his eyes were sharp. Luffy looked more like a stuffed animal than anything else. He was glad to sit on the backpack though; it was kind of Law to do. He didn't really seem like a kind guy at the exterior. Well, Luffy didn't look tough or strong. People didn't always look how they acted, or act how they looked.

Their homeroom teacher came in, and he had white hair and a white, unique goatee. He had glasses, and was clearly older. He gave off a nice, comforting demeanor. Luffy had worried about who they were getting. Hoping it hadn't been his brothers' homeroom teacher, Aizawa. That was the other class; they dodged a bullet.

"My names is Silvers Rayleigh, but please call me Rayleigh. I do anything I can to seem young," he said, sounding like he was joking. Luffy smiled, feeling he would be a good teacher. He had the class introduce themselves one by one. Just their names, he said them all knowing what each other's quirks were this early would be a shame. It wouldn't be as fun.

Luffy would definitely not remember all of their names. Then they were told to get their costumes on the moment they came out of the wall. Luffy jumped up to grab his and run to the changing room, not zooming on all of his limbs. He ran like a normal person. He had a red tank top and his black shorts, the same color as his fur, so he didn't had weird puffy pants around his fluffy fur. He had an eye shield on, similar to Marco's and Hawks.

Not because he flew, but because he had wind in his face when he raced. Everything he was wearing was very stretchy so it could expand in his beast form.

He had gloves on, but they were able to take off in an instant and use his claws. He zoomed to where they needed to meet up, at the baseball field. He stood across from Rayleigh, who looked at him appraisingly. Luffy fidgeted a bit under the gaze, but didn't feel he was being scrutinized. When he glanced back up, Rayleigh was no longer looking at him since everyone was arriving.

Zoro had a skin tight top and pants with boots. Boring. Well, Luffy's was only a red tank top, but he had the goggles. Sanji's was a black suit as well. Everyone else looked very distinguishable from one another. Some were simple and some were really over the top. The girls mostly had really revealing outfits but for a few of them.

Their scents didn't change with their outfits, though. He stood in between Zoro and Sanji, Midoriya a bit behind them. Of course Luffy was in nobodies way and they could all see just fine. Law was back a bit. He seemed kind of lonely, but he'd spoken and acknowledged Luffy by lending him his bag of books. So Luffy deemed him nice.

"Unlike Aizawa-kun, I will not be making this a competition, though you may compete if you wish. This will be a quirk assessment test. Most of the homeroom teachers do it for all of their classes, even those not in the hero course. These will be recorded down for a possible second test later in the school year," Rayleigh explained patiently, still with his smile.

The tests were pretty simple. A little boring, though. Mostly tests of quirk strength and fitness. There was nobody fat in the class or looked very out of shape. Though throughout the test, many were pretty weak. Luffy excelled in the speed ones. He was better than many others with the strength ones, but was fastest out of everyone. Even the guy with engines on his legs, Luffy was faster.

He was also the one who climbed the rock wall the fastest. He actually competed with Law on that in an unexpected move. Luffy was smaller, but lighter, so he made it to the top first, while Law was second and they waited for everybody to slowly make their ways up.

The two said nothing while up there, not alone for very long before Bakugo and Zoro made it up. So many quirks were terrible for physical exercise like this. Midoriya hadn't really needed to use his quirk, and he looked nervous to. It made sense, he wasn't in the kind of environment they'd been practicing in. And Luffy could easily smell All Might watching from the other building.

"Why is All Might watching in secret?" Luffy muttered to himself.

"Smells like BO," Law mumbled, looking away. Luffy snorted. Then the last test was the ball throw. This one clearly needed brute strength to excel at. Or a trick of some sort. Luffy went first, and Bakugo said Luffy wouldn't do well. The class seemed to think that based on his size. The ball was larger for his hand than anybody else.

But then he changed form into the large and intimidating beast, making some hurry a distance away. Luffy sat on his hinds legs and dug three of his hands' claws into the dirt before taking one arm back and then chucking it forward. 901 meters. 200 meters further than Bakugo. Luffy shifted back into his small and unassuming form.

Hagakure, the original girl who had asked him why he was there since he looked so young, said you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Luffy smiled. Midoriya's turn was after many not too interesting ones. Zoro and Sanji hadn't gone yet. Luffy heard Zoro mutter at their friend to only use 15%. He nodded, and walked forward.

He didn't look scared, his face set in a determined look. He took the ball he was given, and threw it as hard as he could. Surpassing Luffy's but not Law's without injury. Those that had been there for the entrance exam, those who had seen what he looked like in the end, were in shock.

Nobody was louder with their shock than All Might from the corner. Luffy turned his head slightly and saw the pro hero gaping. He smirked, and Midoriya was grinning, looking at his unharmed hand. He gave Luffy a high five.

"Midoriya-kun, I thought you were in little control of your quirk," Iida said in confusion. So, he was there when Midoriya wrecked most of his limbs. He shyly said he was trained over the summer. Bakugo scoffed. Uraraka, the girl he'd saved, asked who had trained him so fast?

After all, not a couple months ago, using his quirk was a KO for himself, and here he was controlling it much better. Luffy, Zoro and Sanji raised their hands, they were the ones to train him. "You guys trained him? But you're kids, too!"

Luffy said, "Strong kids."

A guy who had stayed mostly quiet decided to make his intro into being an asshole. "A midget like you is strong?" He was blonde, but darker than Bakugo's. He had a small nose and a scar on his face. He looked like a mean brat. Luffy nodded, he was strong. "Maybe in your monster form. You're just a cute stuffed animal-"

For some reason Law kicked him in the face. They class was shocked, Rayleigh was as well. "Fighting is not allowed outside of the hero class. I will not say this again. This includes Bakugo in making explosions. Quirks will not be used indoors without permission." He sounded stern, yet his face just looked almost lazy. Like he was just enjoying being a teacher or something. Again, Luffy liked him.

Zoro was eyeing Law in suspicion, who scowled at the ground. Luffy assumed it had to do with his own insecurities. About being cute and fluffy. He wasn't anymore, but no doubt he was as a little kid. Luffy knew he still was. But he could do nothing about it. So why get upset over it? Zoro used his magnetism to punt the ball further than anybody else.

Then Sanji kicked his, tossing it up and kicking it, since that was technically using his quirk. Once everyone was done, having only a little bit of a grasp on one another's' quirks, they went back inside. Luffy slowed to walk next to Law.

"There's no reason to be upset about someone calling me cute and fluffy. I am, I know that," Luffy said, and trotted forward to reach his friends. Luffy looked to the side enough to see All Might still peeking out of the corner. Luffy waved to him, and snickered when he looked surprised at being caught.

"Man, that was pitiful," Bakugo said, though not at Midoriya, surprisingly. At Bellamy, the guy with a bruising cheek. "Letting a stuffed fox fuck you up?" Bellamy snarled at him to shut up. He sneered back. "You'll be one of the weakest here. Like Deku." There it was. Luffy sighed and shook his head.

They went straight to the place All Might was waiting for them at. Luffy walked between Zoro and Sanji, though he was listening to everybody equally. He could smell them all, and some of their costumes smelled strongly. Bakugo's gauntlets smelled like metal and paint. Iida's smelled like high grade plastic. The others smelled of different fabrics, or glass in some cases.

All Might did smell like BO, Law was right. He held in a snicker. Well, he was used to bad smells. They were normal now. You were more likely to smell bad things than nice things. Luffy was at the front of the group to see, and they learned they'd be working in teams. Luffy thought it was to fight, but apparently not.

It would be teamwork in solving a problem, not fighting, which some were disappointed about. Bakugo was frustrated, and Bellamy was frowning in irritation. The two class bullies, it seemed. Well, Luffy wasn't self conscious enough for them to get to him, so they couldn't piss him off over his appearance.

Luffy, the smallest, got paired with the largest, which was a mutant with a strange appearance, too. His name was Shoji, and he had three sets arms, too, only they were connected by membranes of skin, with eyes and ears on them. It looked kind of gross for some reason. But of course he would never say that.

They had to find "bombs" within the time limit. They had to take note of their surroundings to find the bombs and click a button to stop them. They had to find them in order, as one was the first, and that had the least amount of time to disable. They had to not make vibrations in searching for them. It was interesting and kind of complicated.

Zoro swore for not having Luffy's senses. He stood with his partner, as they were all in different buildings to pull this off, all having cameras set up to a hub below ground with the rest of the class. They started at the entrance. "I have good senses, and you do, too. This should be easy," Luffy said positively. "The smallest and the largest." Shoji said that was the case.

When they went inside, they wordlessly used their senses to go to the same areas. Luffy was on all his limbs to walk more gracefully and carefully. Padding since his claw fingers were covered and not audible against the stone. When they reached the first bomb, Luffy turned it off. They hurried quicker now, Luffy leaping over things in the way and landed quietly while Shoji just stepped over.

They disarmed them all, and went down the steps out of the building and to the hub room they knew the location of. When they entered, some were pouting or irritated that two of those in the class with the best senses were paired together. Zoro was paired with Ashido, and neither of them were graceful and the vibrations went off almost the moment they stepped inside, which had both of them raging about it being broken.

Sanji went with Uraraka, and she stayed on his back since her shoes were loud and had heels. Sanji was valiant in his effort to not act gooey gooey with her, and he succeeded! They passed the trial. Most failed to do so but those who were silent or had good senses. Law… well, he really wasn't a people person at all.

He was paired with Midoriya, and said nothing to him while walking quickly and silently through the building. Midoriya was forced to just follow and do his best not to make noise. Law said nothing, made no show that somebody else was there with him, and cleared the bombs himself. He didn't get on all of his limbs like Luffy did. Were they only similar looking but not similar in other ways?

His ears were different and his fur was a different color, but was that it? He had good senses, too. But Luffy wouldn't ask because he didn't want to make him angry. Hopefully they'd become friends and can openly speculate on why they look so similar. Equal participation was pretty much non-existent for this exercise. All Might seemed to smile but also had a look of disappointment on.

While others argued with one another in the back, Luffy was quietly watching the screens, sitting down on his hind legs, the most comfortable position in that situation. "So, you trained young Midoriya? That was very thoughtful of you." Luffy said he'd been quirkless and they'd known him a long time. So after finding out he had a quirk but couldn't control it, he wanted to help him.

"Also because I don't want him to let Bakugo walk all over him anymore," he said, a little frosty at that tone. He watched All Might closely, able to tell something was off. Ace always knew Midoriya adored All Might, and he was watching the pro hero's face as it wore a smile of pride. "You like him a lot?" he asked curiously.

"So far, I like all of my students," he said, a waver in his voice.

Luffy nodded, letting it go. There was a lot of arguing in the room, while Luffy just peacefully watched the others mostly fail, with a couple succeeding. Once the last group was done, the arguing had died down mostly. Luffy stood up and put his eye shield back on, which had been resting next to him.

"Alright, students! That was a very interesting first day, and I'm sure we'll get better at team work as the school year progresses! Think about what you can change the next time we work together. You are dismissed, I'll see you all tomorrow," he said, and zoomed away. Luffy's ears twitched.

He sounded like he just vomited. What a weird guy.
