Chapter 3: The Return. (Special thanks to Incrediblesfan1 for the ideas that make up this chapter!)
The next morning, the Hughes were showing everyone around Rockwell.
"This is where we go to shop for groceries." Annie said as she pointed to the Rockwell Market. It was about the size of two Walmarts.
Then, that's when Eric noticed a giant statue in the middle of the park. It looked like a giant robot that had a kid in its hand.
"What's that?" he asked.
"That's a statue of our town hero, the Iron Giant." Annie said.
"Iron Giant?" Violet asked.
"It's a long story." Hogarth said before everyone heard and felt rumbling. They rushed to the town center, where a familiar giant drill burst out of the ground. The Parrs took initiative and hurried to change.
"BEHOLD, THE UNDERMINER! I HAVE RETURNED TO THE SURFACE TO SEEK REVENGE ON THE SUPERS KNOWN AS THE INCREDIBLES! SHOW YOURSELVES, HEROES!" the Underminer shouted.
At that, the Incredibles appeared in the center of town.
"We're right here, Underminer!" shouted Mr. Incredible.
"Ah, finally! Now, for my revenge, Gilgenbots, attack!" the Underminer called as an army of robots rushed at the Incredibles, only to suddenly disappear.
"What?!" the Underminer asked before everyone heard the same sound Eric heard the previous night.
"That's it! That's the chewing sound!" Eric said.
Suddenly, without warning, there was a giant thud, shaking everyone before there emerged a shadow in the cloud of dust behind the Underminer's drill.
(Play Iron Man by Black Sabbath. You know which part.)
The shadow then revealed itself to be a 50-foot tall metal man. The Incredibles were more surprised at this than anything else they had ever seen. The Hughes were the same way. The giant then reached and grabbed the Underminer's drill. It then lifted it up to its mouth before it bit, taking a chunk out of the machine. It then proceeded to devour the rest of it, never mind the hot magma in the engine.
"YOU DARE REBEL AGAINST THE UNDERMINER?! LEARN YOUR PLACE!" The Underminer shouted as he rushed at the giant, only for it to raise its foot and bring it down, crushing him flat as a pancake. The townspeople watched before they started cheering. Once the Underminer was taken away by the police, the Incredibles looked at the giant as it looked back at them.
"What is it?!" Violet asked.
That's when the Hughes came running up.
"It-it can't be!" Dean said.
Annie stared in shock while Hogarth smiled widely. The giant then noticed them and stepped forward before it kneeled down.
"Hogarth." it said.
"That thing can talk?!" Elastigirl asked.
The giant then looked at the Incredibles and said, "Hello."
The Incredibles just meerly waved.
"Everyone, this is our town hero himself, the Iron Giant!" Hogarth said.
Later, back at the Hughes house...
"So, tell us, how did you meet this giant?" Eric asked.
"Well, it all started a few months ago. I was just living an average everyday life, even when I heard Mr. Stutz talking about something crazy he had seen out in the ocean. Something that had fallen from space. That night, while I was watching TV, the movie suddenly went out. I went on the roof to see what was wrong with the antenna, and I found that something had eaten it and walked off, leaving giant footprints. I followed it through the woods to the power station, where I saved it after it electrocuted itself trying to eat pieces of the power plant." Hogarth said.
"Why did it try to eat the power plant?" Bob asked.
"It eats metal. Anyway, sooner or later, I became friends with it. But, no sooner had I, than this guy named Kent Mansley, who used to work for the government, tried to find out about it. He went to insane measures as I tried to hide it, even chloroforming me. We managed to throw the Army off once they got here, but sooner or later, when they attacked the Giant and it thought they killed me, it went on a rampage. I managed to stop it, but Mansley ordered launch of a missile that was locked on to the Giant's position, causing him to sacrifice himself to save the town." Hogarth said.
"Well, if the Giant was destroyed by a missile, how is he here now?" Reflux asked.
"He can repair himself. Giant, show them." Hogarth said. The Giant pulled off a piece of its finger, alarming everyone before he put it back and it reattached like nothing even happened.
"Awesome!" Winston said.
"Wait, Hogarth, how did you manage to stop the Giant?" Violet asked.
"I taught him about superheroes using comic books, especially how guns are bad because they kill, and he doesn't have to kill, so he doesn't have to be a gun. He did what he did because I taught him that he was who he chooses to be." Hogarth said.
"Well, Hogarth, it sounds to me like you really know how to make friends. If you go on any adventures with this giant, consider me and Dash your new adventure buddies!" Violet said.
"Yeah!" Dash said.
