The Missing Sun
Chapter Three
An eerie gray sky hovered over Camp Half-Blood as the loud rumbles scorched the skies. With many eyes looking up at the dark clouds, practicing and studying went out of the window. For it was rare for the sky to darken over the camp.
Yet it was the children of Apollo who drew the most attention. Chiron broke up one or more fights where a child from the Apollo cabin started it. He even found many of them in the medical tent suffer from serious headaches, while others suffer from bouts of rage.
Standing on the porch of Big House, Chiron sighed as he shook his head. What could cause this, he thought, it also didn't help that a winter like breeze whisk around the camp, causing even him to shiver. No, something wasn't right deep down he knew it had to be related to the Gods.
Looking to his right, Chiron's eyes narrowed as he spotted Grover dragging Annabeth in his direction. This wasn't good, he thought. The moment they reach the steps Annabeth looked away with her fists balled up.
"What happened?" Chiron asked.
"Some of the Apollo kids are fighting in the sparing area and they are taking things way too far. Don't worry, some teachers and guards are over there now," Grover said.
"Something needs to be done," Annabeth said bitterly through her teeth.
"I agree, but I don't even know what's causing it," Chiron said.
"I think I do and it's a dozy," A familiar voice said.
They all turned to see Dionysus standing there with his arms crossed as he stood beside Chiron.
Wandering the streets of New York, Artemis kept her eyes peeled. She is good at sensing the aura of the Gods, a trait many of her relatives hated, but was now coming in handy. Brothers offspring always gave off a yellow aura, the brighter the aura the stronger the connection. So she just needed to find one with a bright enough aura.
Yet every time she locates any of his offspring, they were getting into fights or being pulled away on a stretcher by an ambulance. She even found one that was taken to an asylum. Artemis scratched her head when thought entered her mind. She got it confirmed when the cops dragged a man to their car.
"His voice, please make it stop!" The man shouted as he struggled.
Rising to her feet, Artemis continued walking as a smile spread across her lips.
"Oh yes, brother brilliant indeed," Artemis said.
Back at Camp Half-Blood, Chiron, Dionysus, Annabeth and Grover were now in Chiron's office. Taking a deep breath, Dionysus wandered over to the window.
"So, what have you learned?" Chiron asked.
"Well, I heard Apollo is missing and Zeus is furious," Dionysus said.
"By whom?" Chiron asked.
"One of Artemis scouts, also the Goddess herself, is out there searching for him as well," Dionysus said.
"So could that cause the Apollo kids to freak out and get sick?" Annabeth asked.
Both Chiron and Dionysus remained silent as they tried to find an answer to Annabeth's question.
"He's reaching out to them," Grover said.
Everyone turned to Grover, wanting to know more.
"You know, like a psychic link or something like in the movies," Grover said.
"Right, I forgot Gods can contact their children, but with him being missing, he might take it a little too far," Chiron said.
"So, I guess all we can do is wait," Chiron said.
"Yeah, and to think Percy is missing all of this," Annabeth said.
Back at the Golden Sun, Janet Gibson was in her office combing every inch while Percy looked on from his chair with a soda in his hand. His eyes wandered around the room. From, Greek statues to the walls lined with across and old newspapers from 1999 dating all the way back to the 1980s perhaps father. There was no spot in this office that didn't have something on it.
"Ahh found it! "Janet shouted.
Turning around, Percy looked to see Miss Gibson holding an enormous book. Wiping it off with a cloth, she set it in the chair next to Percy. Plotting herself down in her chair behind her desk, Janet opened her can beverage and took a sip. Shaking her head, she looked to Percy, whose eyes were still wandering over her office.
"I suppose you have a lot of questions." Janet said.
"Tons, but Helen answered some of them." Percy said.
"Ah yes Helen such a reliable girl I am so glad Chiron let her work here." Janey said followed with a smile.
"Oh, she was at Camp Half-Blood?" Percy asked.
"Yes, she was in the Apollo cabin. Even there, she loved books. She took over the as the librarian at the Camp Library but the moment I stopped by to visit I knew I had to have her," Janet said.
Percy smiled at the thought, titling his head when some questions came to mind.
"How long has this place been here?" Percy asked.
"Oh, centuries I should think some books date back to that of old Greek civilization," Janet said.
"Wow… what about safety?" Percy asked.
"This is the second safe place, with the Camp being the first. There hasn't been attack here since the 1980s,"
As Janet rose to her feet, her brown eye flicked as they briefly gave off an orange glow. As a gasp escaped her lips. Noticing this, Percy stood up as well.
"What is it?" Percy asked, his voice filled with concern.
"I am afraid I spoke too soon…."
"Why?" Percy asked.
"Because I sense a God is near, which means only one thing…. trouble," Janet said.
At the desk of the library, Helen was stapling some papers she turned around to work on the computer when she blinked. The screen looked as if it was swimming. She then held the side of her head when a voice echoed through her mind.
"Can you hear me?" a male voice asked.
Helen quickly looked around, but no one was there was she going crazy she thought.
"No, you're not going crazy; well this is good I take it you can hear me clearly then?" The voice asked.
"Yes, but who are you?" Helen asked, rubbing the side of her head.
"Your father." the male voice said.
