Well we have NayNayBee to thank for a Chapter 4. Thank you for your review!
Santana POV
After chastising Quinn the next morning for setting me up for a run in with Dani I begrudgingly agreed to have lunch with her, Kurt, and Rachel. We'd all become closer than we were in high school and I was thankful for their presence in my life, despite how annoying they could be at times. Like right now for instance...
"Any new conquests Santana?" Kurt asked excitedly. Quinn gave me a sympathetic glance.
"No, Kurt. I'm not really looking." My face was deadpan and my voice resonated an air of annoyance. Anyone else would have been able to detect my clear intention of changing the conversation topic, but not Kurt, no he was determined.
"You, not looking!" He laughed loudly. "Since when does Santana Lopez not want a warm body in her bed?"
"Yes, the Santana I know, while I don't always approve, always seems to be stringing at least a handful of girls along," Rachel joined in. Kill me now.
"Alright guys, I think Santana gets it," Quinn cut in. I could kiss her right now! Thank goodness for best friends. Kurt and Rachel always seemed to listen to Q more so than me so I was convinced this would put a lid on conversation.
"All we're saying Q is that Santana's different and we don't know why. Ever since Lauren," I winced at the name being uttered out loud. "she's changed and no one bothered to tell Rachel or I why. We feel a bit out of the loop."
"But if you really don't want to talk about it we understand," Rachel decided. "Catch us up on you Q. Any new projects?"
"The magazine is keeping me plenty busy. I love it though. They give me plenty of creative discretion and allow me to freelance on the side too. I actually went out to this foreclosed warehouse yesterday, it was incredible!" Quinn was beaming.
"That sounds...unusual, for you. I'm used to your clean, almost OCD, shots. What took you to that side of town?" Rachel enquired.
"Uhhh just a side project, nothing big," Quinn was playing coy and I wouldn't be surprised if she was doing it for my sake. I was thankful, but I excused myself all the same to go to the counter for another coffee.
"DANI HARPER!" The shrill voice was unmistakably Kurt's. The two of them had obviously worn down Quinn's resolve to keep it a secret. When I had avoided the conversation for as long as I could I dragged my feet back to the table. I didn't bother putting up a pretense of being interested as they continued.
"I've always wanted a famous friend," Rachel was saying. "I think Dani and I would get along really well if given the chance. I could show her where to shop in New York and the best places to eat..." I tuned her out as Quinn and I shared an amused look. Rachel would never change, god love her.
"So what was she like to work with Quinn? Is she as fabulous as she seems?" Kurt begged for details.
"She's actually pretty normal. We hang out and it's not like she's famous, it's like we're just two people hanging out. She's down to earth and level headed. I get the feeling she's not in it for the fame, just the love of music."
"OH MY GOSH!" Rachel shouted. We had to hush her after most of the restaurant turned to stare at the outburst. Rachel silently apologized before turning back to us wide eyed. "We should totally invite her to the loft one night!"
"Rachel I think you're forgetting you've never met her," I had no problem crushing this idea.
"Yeah but Quinn does and surely a few friends in the big city wouldn't be a bad thing for her. Pleaseeeeee Quinn will you just ask her?" Rachel's whining was a dagger through the heart. Quinn agreed to ask, although I'm sure she too was convinced it wouldn't be something Dani would jump at. She probably had a million other things higher on her list.
"Will you come too Santana?" Kurt said, attempting to give me his puppy dog eyes. Did he seriously think that would work on me?
"No, no, and...no." I declared adamantly.
