Here is yet another chapter! Guys this story is so much fun to write! Thanks to Opperative XIV for inspiring me to love writing again! Also I am sorry for not updating for a while. Covid and life has been really rough on me this last year. SO be prepared for a huge chunk of new chapters to enjoy for May the 4th. Also keep your eyes peeled for my friend Clan XIV they wrote an amazing story with my character Sasha in it!

Now: Maul receives a mission.

Chapter 3- Sidious' Dark Plot

Savage… The Duchess… Vizsla… Kenobi… Lord Sidious…

Maul kept seeing those faces flash through his mind as he meditated from his place in the cell aboard a frigate he did not recognize. His plan for revenge and to get himself involved into the Clone Wars had worked splendidly until Sidious showed up. He had gathered the largest crime families and gangs across the galaxy together to help the Death Watch take over Mandalore. His initiation of that plan resulted in the death of a number of members from the Hutt Council, and gained the loyalty of the Black Sun, Jabba the Hutt, and the Pikes. And when they had taken over Mandalore he was betrayed by Pre Vizsla and his Death Watch. So Maul had challenged him to a duel for power as it was accustomed in the Mandalorian culture that appeared to have been lost years ago due to their pacifist Duchess. In the end, Maul had won the duel by removing Vizsla's head from his neck with his own blade, the Dark Saber.

And then he was in control of Mandalore. He should have expected that the Duchess would contact Kenobi at some point as VIzsla had informed Maul that Kenobi and the Duchess were close. When the Jedi arrived, Maul had a plan ready to make Kenobi suffer dearly. But he never would have thought he would have enjoyed watching Kenobi wither and squirm as much as he did when he watched his beloved Duchess fall. He had dreamed of how Kenobi would react, but seeing it was pure pleasure. And then Kenobi's darkness peeked through from behind his Jedi mask. The darkness was so strong and vicious. It reminded Maul of himself. He never thought the Jedi Master would have come so close to falling to the dark side. If Maul had done one last thing to break the Jedi, Kenobi would have fallen and he would have become a pawn to the dark side. But sadly, his Jedi morality and whatever else was circulating through that Jedi mind stopped him from doing so. But he was close.

But then Kenobi escaped, thanks to those 'Night Owls' as they had referred to themselves. They were led by Vizsla's right hand. Bo-Kataan was her name. He recalled she had rejected Maul's rule and escaped with those loyal to her and not Maul. They were just pests to him that he didn't bother to deal with. So he let his Commandos handle them while he and Savage reveled in the memory of Kenobi's suffering. Then he showed up. Out of nowhere Maul's former Master, Darth Sidious, had arrived to Mandalore. Apparently, his seizing of Mandalore had caught the dark lords attention. But instead of taking Maul back as his apprentice after all of these years. He faced down both Maul and Savage, killing his brother in the end. The old lord was still a better fighter than Maul even after all of these years since he had last properly trained with him. In just a matter of minutes, Maul was dethroned by Sidious and taken away from Mandalore. Thankfully, Almec was still running the show for him while he was gone as he was loyal to Maul. But what did his former Master want with him?

Maul opened his eyes as he heard the sound of someone at the door to his cell. The door slid open and the dark lord stood there in hologram form. Behind him was droid that was holding the holoprojector that the dark lord was appearing from. Maul raised his eyebrow slightly as he felt insulted that his old Master didn't even have the decency to face his old apprentice in the flesh. But he recalled the man's role in all of this and knew he was still pulling all the strings for this war. The hologram and the droid moved forward into the cell. Maul would have knelt before his old Master, but he was restrained to the wall.

"Lord Maul," Sidious said. His voice was still chilling and filled with darkness just as Maul remembered it. "Seeing you alive was a surprise. But after our duel on Mandalore, I realized that I still have some use for you."

Maul bowed his head. "What is thy biding my old Master?"

He could see Sidious grin from under his hood. The Sith Lord turned to the droid. The droid moved forward and released Maul from his restraints. Maul dropped to his feet and immediately knelt before the hologram.

"I sense you still want revenge on Obi-Wan Kenobi," Sidious said. Maul didn't answer. Even though he killed the Duchess and broke the Jedi's heart, he still wanted to see Kenobi dead. "And I need Kenobi out of my way to move forward with my plan."

"What do you want me to do?" Maul asked as he raised his head slightly.

"While you have killed the Jedi Qui-Gon Jinn and you have killed the Duchess Satine Kryze, Kenobi is a broken man," Sidious explained. "However, he still has a light that he is clinging to. Use her and you will have Kenobi in your clutches."

Her? Maul was confused. Who was person his former Master was speaking of?

"Who am I looking for?' Maul asked now looking to the hologram.

"Her name is Sasha Monroe," Sidious stated. "She is the new apprentice to Kenobi. She is your target."

Maul had never heard of her before. She really must be new. And if he understood the Jedi correctly, that when one becomes a padawan, as they call it, then they are quite young. So he was going after a child to get to Kenobi. That brought a devilish smirk to Maul's face.

"Do not underestimate her, Maul," Sidious warned. "She is quite skilled and just as stubborn as her Master."

"I can handle a mere child, my lord," Maul said.

"She is more than just a child," Sidious hissed. "The droid has a data crystal with all of the information you need on her next mission as well as your lightsabers. You will need them if you are to succeed. Now, do not fail me, Lord Maul."

The hologram fizzed out. Maul's smirk turned to a scowl. That old bastard was just as demanding as Maul remembered him being. He wasn't Sidious's pawn anymore, but if doing this one job for him meant that he would finally end Kenobi and return to his own growing Empire then he could play his game one last time. Maul rose to his feet and glared at the droid. The droid held out its two hands. In one was the data crystal. In the other was his lightsaber and the dark saber. Maul took the crystal and examined it before placing it in one of the pouches on his belt. He then summoned the sabers to his hands with the force, feeling their familiar grip in his again. He attached them to his belt were they hung with a powerful weight.

"My lord has a ship ready for you in the hanger," The droid spoke. "This way please."

The droid turned and exited the cell. Maul followed the droid towards the hanger. He realized as he walked that this frigate was small and miniscule compared to the frigates he had seen in the holonet that belonged to the Republic and the Separatists. As soon as they reached the hanger, Maul immediately recognized the ship sitting in the hanger. It was identical to the one that he and Savage had travel around in after being abandoned by Kenobi and that Dathomiri witch. However, it appeared to be a different model class and was on the smaller side, but it would suit his needs nicely.

Maul boarded the cargo vessel and made his way to the cockpit. Once there, he took a seat behind the helm of the ship. He started up the ship, hearing the engines roar to life. He then reached into his belt and produced the data crystal. He examined it again before slotting into the available slot on the console in front of him. A moment later a hologram appeared with the information Sidious had promised him. Reading it over, Maul noticed that it only detailed the mission and who was going on it. The padawan child and a small squad of Clones. There was nothing about her that could help him understand his opponent better. So he was going in blind on this? Very well.

He maneuvered the ship out of the hanger and headed off to a secret location he could resupply himself at before he would go after the child. He had at least a few days before she was due to go on said mission. That was plenty of time for him as it would allow him to come up with his plan to capture her and lure Kenobi to his death.
