"Oh my gosh, Maggie!" Panda shouted in surprise.

"What happened to her?" Grizz asked, dropping the paper to sit the unconscious cub back up in the chair.

Ice bear ran over to her and lifted her out of the chair. He laid her, on her back, on the floor. He laid his head gently on her chest to listen for her heartbeat. It was decreasing fast. His eyes widened in a mixture of concern and shock. He then checked her pulse. It was too slow.

"Is she even breathing?" He asked himself.

He leaned down to listen or feel for any breath. He got nothing. She wasn't breathing.

He gasped slightly. "She could die in seconds." He thought. He had to do something.

So he started doing CPR. Opening her mouth, he breathed two breaths into her, and started doing compressions.

After about a minute of trying to get her to breathe, he started to fear that she wouldn't make it. When suddenly he heard a gurgling sound.

He looked in her mouth, and down her throat. He saw the shadow of something coming up. He continued doing compressions, trying to force whatever it was up her throat.

It didn't work. Ice bear leaned her up with his arm and patted her on the back. It didn't work either. He tried to set off her gag reflex with a spoon, but that didn't work either.

He finally decided on a solution he dreaded the most. But he had to do it. She could die if he didn't.

He laid her back down, and put his lips to hers. Then he began sucking the fluid from her throat.

The other bears watched in amazement, as their little brother saved the cub's life.

Ice bear spit the fluid on the ground and continued clearing her airway. When he finally cleared the last bit of fluid from Maggie's throat he continued doing compressions.

She finally started breathing after about thirty seconds of this. Her eyes shot open as she gasped for air.

"Maggie!" Grizz exclaimed. He had a relieved expression on his face as he ran up to her and gave her a big hug.

"Lean back." Ice bear said to her. She did as she was told, and laid back down on Ice bear's knee.

Ice bear put a hand on the left side of her chest to feel her heartbeat. He then put two fingers on the side of her neck to check her pulse.

"Lean back up." Ice bear said to her.

She leaned back up into the sitting position. Ice bear felt the sides of her neck for anything unusual.

"Maggie can lay back down." Ice bear said.

She laid back down onto her back.

"Does this hurt Maggie?" Ice bear asked her, as he pressed his paw against her chest.

"A little." She said, wicing. She was clearly in pain.

"On one to ten scale," Ice bear asked her. "What is number of pain?"

"One." She said, still wincing.

"Don't lie to Ice bear." Ice bear said, narrowing his eyes at her suspiciously.

"Two?" She said.

Ice bear narrowed his eyes more as he stared down at her.

He pushed on her chest with a little more force, making her yelp in pain.

"Ten!" She yelled. She curled up into the fetal position and laid on her back, moaning in pain.

"Ice bear wants to do physical exam on Maggie." Ice bear said to Panda and Grizz.

He picked her up and laid her on his back in a piggyback position and walked, still standing on his hind legs, outside to the shed. As he walked, he felt her lay her head on his back. She was tired, and in pain.

He laid her on the workbench, and got out his emergency medical kit. It had all sorts of medical equipment in it, from bandages, to bags of plasma.

He started with a bare eyed exam. He looked her over for any signs of bruising or swelling.

Ice bear then checked her spine, bones, joints, lung capacity, blood pressure, and heart rate. She was completely fine. The only problem was when he tried to get her to eat. He couldn't get the spoon of oatmeal past her lips.

"Maggie needs to eat." Ice bear said, holding the spoon to her mouth.

She opened her mouth again and he tried to put it in her mouth. But as soon as it passed her teeth, she started gagging, again.

She hadn't eaten anything since she had got to their cave. She only picked at her eggs yesterday, and she hadn't had breakfast yet. The only thing she had consumed had been water.

"Sorry." She said. "Guess I have a strong gag reflex."

Ice bear nodded and went back to the cave. He found some berries and yogurt in the fridge and blended a smoothie together. He returned to the shed and gave Maggie the smoothie.

"Can Maggie drink smoothie through straw?" Ice bear asked.

"Yes." She said as she sucked the purple-pink liquid through the red straw Ice bear had put into the cup.

The two white bears were interrupted by the sound of a knocking on the shed door, and Grizz busting in.

"Hey, lil bro, come and take a look at this." Grizz said, panting from running.

Ice bear nodded and followed Grizz into the cave.

"You know that liquid that you sucked out of Maggie?" Grizz asked him as they entered the front door.

Ice bear nodded. What did his brother want to show him that was so important?

"Look at it." He said to Ice bear. He pointed to the ground where a small puddle of the stuff was.

It was a teal, gel-like substance. And something about it rubbed him the wrong way. Once again, he felt a strong sense of deja vu. Something wasn't right.

Ice bear stuck his finger into it and pulled up a thick gloop of the stuff. It smelled awful. He wondered how long it had been in her lungs, and how she could breathe all night long last night.

"Ice bear is concerned for cub's safety." The white bear said.

He scooped the teal liquid into a cup and took it to the shed to show Maggie. As soon as she laid her eyes on it she screamed.

"That's the liquid I was in!" She shrieked. She jumped onto the top of the workbench and pressed her back against the wall of the shed.

"Liquid, was in Maggie's lungs." Ice bear said. He set the cup on the shelf on the left wall, and helped her down.

"Nothing to be afraid of." Ice bear said. "Just liquid."

Grizz suddenly burst into the shed again, holding Maggie's piece of paper.

"Hey bro, look at this." The brown bear said to him, waving the paper in front of his face.

Ice bear looked at the piece of paper and found the cave's address written on it. His eyes widened.

"I woke up on the streets." Maggie said. "I followed the directions to your cave."

"Ice bear sees something else." Ice bear said. He pointed to a tiny red spot on the paper.

"Is that...blood." Grizz asked.

"Ice bear needs sample." Ice bear said.

"There's too little blood to get a sample." Grizz said.

Ice bear looked at the paper, and then at Maggie. All three of the bears were thinking the same thing.

"Hold cub down." He said to his older brother.

Grizz took action immediately, and jumped at the poor cub. He caught her by the ankles, and forced her down. Ice bear got a small syringe, and stuck it into her upper arm. He slowly sucked out a little bit of blood.

"Ice bear apologizes." He said, as he put a bandage on the young cub's arm.

"Why do you need my blood?" She asked him.

"Ice bear wants to run tests." He said. As he helped her off of the workbench he had sat her on.

"You want to run a DNA test?" She asked. He nodded and lifted her on his back again.

By then it was 7:30 pm. Maggie quickly drifted off to sleep on his back. He put the syringe in the fridge, and climbed in too. He decided not to move Maggie, as to not wake her. Instead he laid on his back with her on his torso.

She let out a soft breath before nuzzling up against his chest. Ice bear slowly closed his eyes, and drifted off into a dreamless sleep.
