Previously on "Umm… What?"
It only took a few hours to arrive at the correct coordinates, and sure enough, the vortex anomaly was still hovering over an almost completely destroyed Area-51.
"I would like to have gotten to know this Hanna a lot better, Kim."
"I would have liked to as well, Ron." She then paused for a second. "But if we get back, you will be able to see her actually grow up. Maybe even train her yourself."
With that being said, Kim then looked back out the windshield at the anomaly floating in the air. "Well… let's see where and when this thing takes us this time." After pressing down on the accelerator, the Sloth once again disappeared just as it entered the weird looking vortex.
Once again the Sloth appeared over Area 51, travelling at a high rate of speed. This time Kim had to quickly force the vehicle up as there was a large black helicopter about three hundred yards in front of them, and they missed it by just a few feet.
Immediately there was a transmission that came over the Sloth's speakers. "You are in violation of restricted airspace. Lower your speed and we will escort you to a landing field."
"Sir, do you know who I…" Kim started to say in response, but was immediately cut off.
"We know who you appear to be, Kim Possible, but we have had at least two other intruders come out of this vortex, and they were decidedly not friendly. The last one to come through immediately blew up one of our Black Hawks, and my daughter was the pilot. So I don't want any guff from you young lady. Please follow us to land, or we will be forced to fire on you."
At this point Kim knew, as well as Ron, that this was a serious situation. At least no one had tried to kill them… yet.
They followed the black war machine to a small landing field a couple miles away from Area 51, and Kim once again expertly brought the flying car in for a perfect landing. They had been instructed to taxi towards the only hangar, and when they were told to stop about fifty yards from the structure, at least fifty military personnel were standing around with weapons all trained on them.
The same voice they had heard from their speakers was now speaking to them over a mega-phone. "Please exit the vehicle with your hands up, and DO NOT make any quick motions or actions." Multitudes of clicks were heard, as the numerous weapons trained on them were being readied to fire.
Both Kim and Ron did as instructed, and Rufus was standing on Ron's shoulder with his little paws raised as well. "Well Kim, now what?" Ron whispered, and both then saw a well-decorated General.
The General spoke loudly again, but this time without any amplification. "Walk forward until I say 'Halt'."
After walking to the halfway point between the Sloth and the General, he barked out "Halt!" The two stopped, and never once thought to put down their hands.
"What are your intentions?" The General asked.
"To get…" Kim's voice cracked, and she started over. "To get home, Sir."
"And where exactly is… 'Home'?" The General's sideways stare was really starting to make the redhead nervous.
"Middleton Colorado, in The United States of America, Sir."
The General then rattled off three more questions, asking what her address was, the name of her grandmother on her father's side, and what was the name of her favorite stuffed animal.
Quickly Kim fired off the first two answers, and then finished with, "…Pandaroo, Sir. Now may I ask what this is all about?"
The General turned slightly to one side and spoke loudly. "Mr. Load. Is this Kim Possible speaking the truth?"
A familiar voice spoke up from behind the armed personnel. "Yes General, she is. The probability factor is 98%. In my opinion, I trust her. Although I would like to ask her companion a question of my own, Sir.
"For what reason?"
"We just made sure this Kim Possible is not a threat, but I would like to make sure this Ron is not a threat either." The General nodded. "Thank-you Sir. Now… Ron Stoppable? As a child you had an invisible friend. What did you name him, and how big was he?"
Feeling a little nervous Ron swallowed first, then answered. "His name was Rufus, and he was HUGE."
His answer garnered a few snickers among the armed personnel, but they were immediately silenced by a single word order by the General. "ATTEN-TION!"
"General, Sir?" Wade said, "I do believe that these two are not a threat to us."
After a few tense seconds, the General gave another order. "Men, at ease… and shoulder your arms. Kim Possible and company, you may lower your arms and approach." He then spoke in a lowered voice to an aide standing next to him. "I want you to stay alert. I still don't trust that little pink thing."
In less than fifteen minutes, Kim, Ron, and Rufus were in a sit-down meeting with the General, his aide, and Wade Load.
With everyone sitting around a large oval table, except for Wade, who was at a computer terminal at a separate desk, the General started. "OK, Miss Possible, I'm Gen…"
Kim politely interrupted. "Wait, aren't you General Simms…" she then looked at his aid, "And aren't you Lieutenant Franklin? I'm usually pretty good with names."
"I'm sorry Miss Possible, but I don't think we've met before." The General remarked, again with a sideways look.
"And I don't believe we've ever met before either." Lieutenant Franklin added.
Kim's eyebrows narrowed. "Sure we have General. Don't you remember when Drakken and a giant dog named Puddles attacked Area 51? And Lieutenant Franklin… I think we met when Drakken drilled into your base in Iowa with a subterranean vehicle to take Project Phoebus?"
"Excuse me?" General Simms replied at about the same time as Lieutenant Franklin, who responded with a simple "Huh?"
"You mean the two of you don't remember either of those situations?" The young red head was now slightly confused.
"Umm… Kim?" Ron said, getting his girlfriend's attention. "This is the real Wade." His finger thunked on the boy's forehead as Ron had rolled his chair over to Wade and tapped him on the forehead.
The tech guru quickly swatted away Ron's hand. "What did you think I was? A hologram?"
"Well… yeah."
Wade then quickly tapped away some more, and suddenly the ceiling opened and a large machine dropped down, pointing directly at Kim.
"I should have KNOWN something was up!" Kim yelled as she quickly jumped from her chair and shot a hook from her rappelling gun trying to hook onto the large weapon.
"No! Wait! Kim! It's not a weapon!" Wade said, stopping the heroine from yanking a hydraulic hose from the machine.
"Then what is it!" Her question sounded exactly like a demand.
"I was going to do a molecular orientation scan. I think the results will answer a lot of questions." With a quick look, Kim expertly flicked her wrist, unhooking the grapple from the hose, and Wade typed in a few more commands.
With a whir and a click, the machine positioned itself to once again point at Kim. A pinkish white colored beam shot out, quickly widened, and scanned her from head to toe. It finished with a beep, and Wade looked at his screen.
"General, look at this." General Simms went to the boy's side and looked at the screen. "See right there and there? This Kim is not from our reality. She's from…"
"Another universe." This time the answer was from Ron. Everyone, including Rufus, were astonished at his conclusion. "What? I've been around enough to recognize things now and again. Besides, I was bound to get something right sooner or later, right?"
"My Ron, the Physicist." Kim said while placing a hand on his shoulder as she sat back down.
"With this information, I think I have a working theory, Sir."
"Well, let's have it, son." The General replied.
Wade took a breath before beginning. "When this anomaly appeared over Area 51, Kim arrived almost immediately, right? Well, most likely all other Kim's in all other possible universes did the exact same thing. Every Kim in every universe entered the vortex at the exact same time.
"This is when everything went wonkey. With no way to control where you were going, every Kim went to a different universe. But I think I can figure out how to control this. All I need to do is somehow match this Team Possible's molecular orientation to the same orientation of their universe."
A few seconds passed after Wade's explanation, and the only response was from Ron. "Umm… what?" Sure enough, it took a slightly different wording to get Ron to understand a little bit better.
Kim then had a question. "So, Wade? How long will it take you to figure out how to get us back to our universe?
He started to type and talk at the same time. "Well, I need to figure the exact space-time coordinates of the anomaly, when it first arrived, how long it's been there, has it moved, it's angle of orientation to the earth's gravimetric and magnetic forces, the speed and angle of entry as well as the orientation of the entry vehicle, and lastly, how many Naco's Ron and Rufus have eaten before re-entry."
This time it was Kim's turn to react. "Umm… what?"
"For exact weight, Kim."
A look of understanding passed the red head's features, but then an eyebrow raised. "Wait… you know exactly how much I weigh?"
Wade's cheeks slightly reddened. Umm, yeah. Sorry. Hadn't you ever wondered how your grappling gun always had the right power to pull you up, or even how that red Supersuit I made for you fit so perfectly?"
"Kim's facial expression softened. OK, that all makes sense. Sorry 'bout that." Then another question popped out. "Wait… my Supersuit is blue, not red."
Wade's shoulders shrugged. "Most likely just another minor difference between our universe and yours."
Through the entire conversation, Wade's fingers continued to fly across his keyboard. Then finally he hit 'Enter' with a flourish and proclaimed, "Got it! Kim, I know how to get everyone back to their correct universe. But, there's only two little things that also need to coincide."
"And what is that, Mr. Load?" The General asked.
"All of my counter-parts in all of the other universes would have had to come up with the exact same information that I have. Then in all other universes, the Sloth, or transport vehicle, whatever it may be, needs to enter the vortex at the exact same time and the exact same orientation, speed and etc."
"Wade? Ron said raising a finger. "That's more than two things." The response was a small grin and shrugged shoulders.
This time it was Rufus who responded with a slightly confused look and a slap to his little pink head while saying, "Umm… what?"
To be continued…
I am so, so sorry it's taken this long to update. Let's just say it's been a multitude of things including Real Life, streaming services, and just plane ol' procrastination.
I hope this chapter keeps y'all interested…
