Previously..."That's grownup stuff, kiddo." Damian glared at him at the nickname. "That and I'm not allowed to tell you." Damian went to retort when a commotion below them caught their attention.Damian looked over the rail at the security guards running towards them. He turned in time to see Red Hood put his mask back on before he felt the heat on his back. They were thrown backward as an explosion rocked the building.

Red Hood groaned, shoving pieces of debris off of them. He'd jumped in between the flames and Damian, covering him with his body before being knocked aside by the blast. He stared at the flames that threatened to suffocate them. His head snapped to the side when someone violent coughed beside him.

He watched Damian's shoulders rise and fall. Red Hood got to his feet, helping the kid up from the ground. Damian looked behind them, covering his mouth, then at Red Hood.

"Come on. We've gotta get out of here," Red Hood said, grabbing Damians arms. Damian protested.

"Grandfather was in that building

"He can take care of himself. Besides I'm responsible for your safety and we need to get out before the building collapses." Damian gave him a look. Red Hood sighed, there was no stopping this kid.

He nodded

The guards laid dead on the ground. Red Hood wrinkled his nose smelling burnt flesh as they ran past the bodies. Red Hood couldn't understand why the smell was familiar to him. He mentally shook the thought out of his mind. I have to focus on keeping Damian alive.

Renegade ducked, sweeping the soldiers feet out from under him. He turned, punching another one in the face, knowing them unconscious.

Renegade glanced around him at the dozen of either unconscious or dead bodies of the enemies around him. He coughed as some of the smoke entered his lungs.

The explosion had shaked the ground. Renegade had immediately ran back into the building to help when he'd been confronted by a group of soldiers.

Renegade looked up at the sound of footsteps and saw Red Hood and Damian running towards the fire. He tilted his head confused before spotting an enemy ready to strike in front of them.

Renegade pulled out one of the smaller knives he had hidden, pulling his arm back. He let the blade fly into the enemies chest, cutting the duo off. Red Hood drew his sword looking at where Renegade stood and at the dead enemy. Red Hood nodded at him, continuing into another room.

Renegade followed them and paused at the sight. Ra's al Ghul was pushing himself up to his feet when a bomb landed at his feet. Red hood grabbed Damian, protecting him with his body. Renegade grabbed Red Hood's arm pulling them behind a pillar as the bomb exploded.

He peaked around the edge, nodding at Red Hood that it was safe. Red Hood let go of Damian and they both walked around the pillar and froze at the damage.

The spot where Ra's was standing was destroyed and sticking out from under the rubble was a burned hand. The second floor had collapsed when the bomb went off.

Renegade's eyes widened. Damian ran towards, reaching out his hand to grab his grandfather's limp one. More of the roof began to cave in on top of him before Damian could reach him, burying Damian's grandfather further beneath the rubble. Renegade reached out his hand, grabbing the back of Damian's jacket, pulling the struggling boy away from the flames that started to engulf the hall.

The halls were empty except for a few soldiers that blocked the exit. Red Hood quickly killed them, moving forward without a second glance.

Renegade pushed open the door using his back, dragging Damian with him out of the burning building. Red Hood followed them outside. The fresh air chilled his skin. Damian kicked Renegade in the shin getting a small grunt of pain from the man.

"Grandfather!" Damian screamed. Renegade's heart broke at the desperate tone in his voice. He held the kid tight against his chest.

"Let me go!" Domain finally yanked himself free from Renegades grip, watching as the building crumbled in front of them. The kid turned, with a menacing look towards Renegade.

"Why did you leave him there? Grandfather would've been fine, but you left him there to die," Damian growled.

Renegade didn't have the heart to tell him that the Lazarus pit couldn't have saved him. It can bring people back if their body isn't too damaged and Ra's al Ghul was nothing but a crisp now.

Damian scoffed at his silence. "Pathetic." Renegade couldn't help but agree with the kid. He was pathetic.

The three of them stood in silence for a while watching the burning remains. They all looked up at the sound of an aircraft.

The helicopter landed and a figure stepped out. Renegade's heart threatened to beat out of his chest, a cold sweat drenching him. He lowered his head in fear when Deathstroke met his eyes.

Renegade's hands shook with each step Deathstroke took towards him. Deathstroke didn't even look at him as he walked past him towards Talia, who had appeared out of nowhere.

They stood off to the side away from the trio, talking to each other, glancing at their small group a couple of times. Renegade trembled. He was in big trouble. Every second Deathstroke ignored his existence the worse he knew his punishment would be.

Renegade forced his body to still as Talia walked to stand in front of them.

"There has been a change in plans. Damian, Red Hood, and Renegade, you three are going to be moved to a safe house. You two will be responsible for Damian's wellbeing and safety during your stay." Her stare said they had no choice in the matter and that they would die a horrific death if anything happened to her son.

Renegade and Red Hood nodded. Talia looked at Renegade. "Deathstroke wishes to speak to you."

Renegade glanced fearfully at his master before trugging over to him with his head bowed. He could feel the scorching sensation of eyes watching him.

Deathstroke placed a hand on Renegade's tense shoulder when Renegade was close enough.

"This is a simple security assignment, nothing more. Don't get attached to the client. That shouldn't be too hard after what happened last time," Deathstroke said, his hand tightening causing pain to shoot through Renegade's arm and shoulder. Renegade looked away. "We'll talk about your failure later."

Renegade's shoulder fell when Deathstroke walked away. He'd really messed up this time.

He joined the duo after a moment, not meeting their gazes, knowing they had heard. Damian was the first to turn away going to talk to his mother. Red Hood stayed put staring at him.

Renegade sighed quietly. This isn't going to go well.
