A Battle Maid's Azeroth Adventure

Lordaeron?

Noelle took a breath as she staggered forward, almost falling if not for her manifesting and leaning on her greatsword. The simple act of summoning her sword produced a yelp from Alicia. It seems she's not familiar with the action. The older lady gave Noelle a curious look that she usually witnessed from children normally.

"I'm sorry Miss Alicia but I suspect that I may be lost. May I ask where we are?", asked Noelle.

"Certainly I suppose. This hamlet here is too small for a name you see, the nearest town is Strahnbrad.", explained Ms Alicia.

"Again, can you be broader? I'm afraid I'm very lost.", emphasised Noelle.

"Umm, we're in the region of Eastweald.", expanded Ms Alicia.

". . ."

"In the Kingdom of Lordaeron...", said Alicia.

"What continent are we on?", asked Noelle.

"Pardon milady but just how lost are you?", asked Alicia. Seeing the concerned expression on the younger woman, Alicia pitied her. "The continent is also called Lordaeron."

"Do you know a way to get to Teyvat? A ship? A land route? A teleporter?", asked Noelle in mounting worry.

"I'm afraid we country folk get taught only so much. I only know of Lordaeron, Khaz Modan, Azeroth and Northrend. You must be very lost milady.", said Alicia.

"I suppose I could ask around if anyone knows how I can get home then.", Noelle said hopefully.

"Excuse me milady but I might know who could help you. To the north-west, along the road, the Knights of the Silverhand are camped. They may know how to help you return home.", suggested Alicia.

"Thank you so much, Miss Alicia! I can't express how grateful I-", said Noelle.

"Aunt Alicia! The Prince! The Prince is in our village! Ryan and I saw him!", interrupted an incoming boy.

"Blake, we have a guest here already. What's this about the Prince?", asked Alicia. A second smaller boy hiding behind Blake, presumably Ryan, piped up quietly.

"Blakes right. We saw the Prince. Miss Maria, Miss Stephanie and Mister Jerrett all said that he was the Prince too.", said Ryan.

"Well milady, you don't seem to be as unlucky as you think. Prince Arthas would be sure to help you. You best get a move on milady. Many thanks for what you've done for us.", said Alicia.

"I should get going then. Thank you for your help. Farewell Miss Alicia! Farewell Timmie!", said Noelle. The boy had long fallen asleep in his mother's arms.

"We'll fight for Lordaeron! Grab your sword!", exclaimed one villager to a second. A group of soldiers waited for them, the Silverhand assumed Noelle. The two locals grabbed arms and armour from their home.

As the soldiers were waiting Noelle walked up to them, spotting the tall, non-helmeted gentlemen who seemed to be the leader. For a moment she activated her elemental sight. She thought to search for a vision among these men, but to her surprise she found none. Of course, most Knights didn't have Visions, but she curiously saw a different kind of magic in the tall one. It was unlike any element she knew, it felt warm and comforting. It was calm and refreshing. To the best of her knowledge, it was like a combination of Geo, Anemo and Pyro all at once.

"Are you with the Knights of the Silverhand?", asked Noelle. That got the whole group to turn to her. She couldn't look at him directly without being blinded. It felt like the magic was emanating from him as if he was an elemental being rather than a man.

"Yes, we are. And who are you warrior?", he asked. The knights all drew their weapons at her, not expecting an armed stranger. She looked at her back and realised the Skyward Pride remained summoned. She attempted to salvage what trust she had in these knights by not drawing her sword in turn. A knight must know when to apply diplomacy.

"Noelle. I am a maid and Knight-in-training of the Knights of Favonius. And your name?", introduced Noelle. His brow arched, he mustn't be used to not getting recognised.

"Arthas. Prince Arthas. Paladin of the Silverhand.", said the newly named Prince. This is what a prince looked like? She never met a prince before, the nobles held no power over the people of Mondstadt for centuries.

"The Knights of Favonius? I haven't heard of such an order. Where are you from?", asked Arthas, still suspicious.

"I'm from the City of Mondstadt on the continent of Teyvat.", said Noelle. She hoped a Prince of this land would be educated enough where he would know the continents of his world. He would surely know, he had to know.

"Teyvat? Where would that be?", asked Arthas cautiously. This confirmed her fears, she somehow travelled to another world. Despite how impossible it was, she knew it was possible. People were capable of it, including Aether. But he explained that it took significant energy, effort and time. She didn't have the energy or means to do so. So how did she get here?

"That seems to be exactly the problem. I'm lost. I woke up this morning and rescued a boy named Timmie from some hyena men. I returned him to his mother, a local by the name of Ms Alicia. I asked her for help and she directed me to the Knights of the Silverhand. I was hoping your Order could help me find my home.", explained Noelle. The Prince and his knights still seemed sceptical but they at least sheathed their weapons.

"Well, Squire Noelle of the Knights of Favonius, as much I would like to help you find your home, myself and our men have a mission. If you could help us then I would be happy to pass on your request to Lord Uther.", explained Arthas. These knights seemed to ease around her.

"Thank you, Prince Arthas. As a true knight should, I'll help you with whatever you need. Um, what exactly do you need help with?", asked Noelle. She always seemed to rush into assisting without any thought as to how she could assist them.

"Hehe. You're eager it seems. Good, a knight should be quick help those in need.", said Prince Arthas. "We had been tasked with defending Strahnbrad and its people from the Blackrock Clan.", he explained. The Prince then noticed the two local men who also wished to join him.

"You two, your first assignment is to confirm Ms Noelle's story from Ms Alicia.", said Arthas to the two locals he had just recruited.

"Not that I don't trust you but we also need to make sure the common folk are being taken care of.", he continued.

"Come on then Ms Noelle. If you truly wish for our help, then we need to finish our mission first.", said the Prince.

The villagers the Prince had already met had flocked to give their goodbyes. The common folk of Lordaeron seemed to love their Prince.

This wasn't at all like Mondstadt. Of course, Noelle and most of Mondstadt held great respect for Diluc, Master Jean, Barbara and Ms Eula, but it was usually for their actions and achievements instead of the fact that they were nobles. The reverence the people of Lordaeron had for Prince Arthas seemed most like how the people of Liyue saw their Qixing.

As they made their way north of the village the group reached the main road. Noelle thought of home, despite how foreign these people were in appearance and manner they had much in common with Mondstadt. They still laughed and smiled. They worked their fields and herded their livestock. She looked ahead to the Knights she attached her self to and was reminded of her aspirations of Knighthood, her home of Mondstadt and her friends who all supported her. She shook off her melancholy and held onto her hope for the future.
