Hermione was left gaping at the door trying once again to process through everything that had just happened. It was pure insanity that she would run into him of all people in this cafe of all places wearing Muggle clothes of all things! Surely any minute now she was going to wake up from a jet-lagged kip in her own hotel room. But a subtle pinch to the outside of her thigh did nothing to get her closer to opening her eyes, and before she could stop the man he was leaving without even one glance back in her direction.
Just who did he think he was, ordering her about like that and then storming off like an overgrown toddler? Indignation rose in her chest, but she reminded herself to take a moment and a breath to act like an adult. This was supposed to be her getaway after a life-altering decision and there was no way she was going to let Severus Snape of all people ruin it for her. Leaving a few notes on the table by his untouched coffee in case he hadn't actually paid, she hurried out into the street trying to figure out where he'd disappeared off to.
Mentally kicking herself for not following faster, she didn't have enough time to stop and scan the crowd before a large hand grabbed her arm and yanked her into an alleyway. Immediately she grabbed for her wand but before she could pin the tip of it on her attacker they had wrenched her wrists up above her head leaving her weapon to clatter to the ground. Black eyes pierced down into her own as another hand came over her mouth, one eyebrow rising in warning before it lifted off in fair confidence that she wasn't going to scream.
Years of self-control on his expression kept Severus from looking amused at the little witch trying not to struggle against him. Oh she wanted to - he could see the spark in her eyes and knew her heart was racing from the way her chest was heaving. Not that he was truly looking, of course. "And that, Miss Granger… is precisely how dangerous the real world can be." He leaned in to intimidate her more, closing a little more of the distance between them. "I had imagined you to have a little more understanding of your position, but clearly I was.. mistaken."
He couldn't imagine a reason that she had come here unless by Dumbledore's demand, but he wasn't so close-minded as to not look at other options. Only thinking of one outcome was how most people ended up dead after all. At the same time it just felt like too much of a coincidence that swotty little Miss Granger would be on holiday in the exact same city that he was, and even more so that they would run into each other at all. Paris had millions of citizens, and even more tourists during the summer, so what was the real reason?
He was tempted to take a peek inside her mind, only at the surface of course. But the little chit wouldn't give him an actual opportunity. Either she knew what he was capable of or she was just that embarrassed to be caught in such a compromising position without her wand. If only to make her that much more uncomfortable he leaned in even more, mere inches between their faces as he tried to catch her eyes even. "Why are you here?" Her breath caught as his own beat against her skin, honey-brown eyes flicking up to his.
Success… and then not. Hermione tried not to smirk as he encountered her own Occlumency shields, focused on keeping them as strong as she could while surprise flickered across the man's face. "I think that's my business. So if you'd just let me go…" She gave a few tugs to try and get her wrists free, squeaking as his body pressed hers more firmly to the wall. "I don't know what you think you're playing at-" His gaze darted out towards the street for a quick second before returning to hers. "We are being watched. You must forgive me."
Before she had a chance to respond or even make a grab for her wand his lips were on her neck, pulling a gasp out of her as he released her wrists to run his hands down her sides. It was a slow pace, and he never strayed too far out of line, but to anyone watching it would certainly look like he was trying to play with her. Biting her lip she came to a split-second decision and brought her freed arms around his shoulders, pulling him closer to her and arching her body off the wall to press against his.
He froze momentarily, but with a growl his teeth came next, marking a small place right over her pulse hard enough she had to truly focus to keep from crying out. The back of her head nearly smacked against the wall but surprisingly enough his hand was already there to cushion it, masking the kindness by fisting into her curls to pull her head more off to the side. A quiet moan rose from somewhere deep inside of her which seemed to snap him back to reality, much to her sudden disappointment. Grabbing the front of her throat he took a step back, not squeezing but holding her out at arm's length like some sort of specimen.
"Enough…" Severus allowed his gaze to caress her one more time before snapping across the street, satisfied that the face that had concerned him was gone. That had gotten far too out of hand, far too quickly, and he cursed himself in his mind for taking advantage of a student even if at the time it seemed to be in her best interest. He hadn't the faintest idea how to proceed from here, keeping his focus out on the street until he was certain his voice wouldn't waver. "The Dark Lord has a hand in more places than you would expect. We can only ask Merlin they did not recognize you."
