'Three moons, I won't be able to fly to the Academy at this rate,' I thought, as I beat my exhausted wings. After what seemed like ages, I spotted the tall trees that were planted in a wide circle, and strung with vines in between, to make a sturdy area for the dragonets to play safely.

I skidded to a stop in front of the main gate, and stood there for a moment, catching my breath. Starsinger, a really nice NightWing, rushed to my aid, but I waved her away.

I strolled up to the gate after a while, and made my way through the entrance. Immediately, the dragonets scrambled over to me, except for. . .oh, there he is.

A small NightWing dragonet was huddled away in a corner. His name is Blackstar, and since he is timid and quiet, he is constantly bullied by some others, like Nightstormer, and Mightysoul. The only dragonet who was kind to him was another NightWing, Darkheart. But even she could not hold off the attackers forever.

I pushed through the clamouring crowd of scales and talons, and wandered over to him. He immediately squeaked, and tried to burrow into a stone. I gently prised him away, and crouched down, so our snouts were level.

"Any new dragonets?" I asked. He fervently shook his head. "Is that a 'no there are no new dragonets', or a 'no, I'm too shy to answer you?'" I laughed. he nodded his head twice, which I took to mean the second option. So I decided to look for the dragonets myself. But not without Blackstar at my side.

First, I headed towards the trampoline, but darling Blackstar pulled me in the other direction, towards the swings. And there they were, NightWings, RainWings, and some hybrids, waddling around and constantly falling over, while making weird sounds, like,"eeee gobuk ma. Swin' tee. Swin' tee!" It was hilarious.

I crept over, and wiggled my claws at some of them. They all tripped over to me, and started to climb over my talons and snout, my tail and spine. Aww, they were all so cute! Sadly, none of them had been named yet, so I just called them things like, Little Guy, and Cheeky, and Baby Girl.

The RainWings scales kept on flashing colours, but sometimes they decided to take control, and several of them were now copying a dragonet who had become an aqua with each of her scales scalloped in gold. None of them, however, wanted to be the same, so there was a sea of dragons, each a different colour, with either silver, gold, or bronze lining each scale. The NightWing dragonets either opened their wings and flashed the diamond scales, or sat there looking moodily over at the crowd of show-offs.

All too soon, I had to say my goodbye's. I hugged Blackstar, waved to the other's, and whispered,"take care of him. He needs you to be strong for you both, until he can be strong on his own," to Darkheart, and circled around the amusements one last time, before fluttering off.

However, I was too tired to go much further, and so I landed on a branch next to a chameleon, who jumped in terror, and scurried off. I had only one more stop to make, and that was to Hope and Moon, for no doubt they were together, whispering in that worried way of theirs.

Still too tired to fly, and jumped down and continued on foot, but it was not long before I discovered something both amazing and horrifying.
