Cap rode the bat cycle variant through the storm and back into Gotham. He appreciated Bruce allowing him to help out. Cap got the impression Bruce didn't trust many people. I can understand that.

But as cap rode back into the decaying city he couldn't help but feel that this city was worse off than many others he'd been to. And he'd been to quite a few of them. And it was America too; New Jersey for Christ's sake. It was first world. Yet there was definitely a hellish energy here. Cap wanted to understand it more. Whether it was the angel part of him or not he wasn't sure. Only that it needed dealt with.

He didn't like trouble rearing up. That was another item driving him here to get answers. He had the feeling he wouldn't rest until he had those answers.

He returned to city limits. He had yet to meet these other bat family members. He pulled over on a street. The rain continued to fall without pause. Cap loved rain and felt quite at home in it. Part of him wished he'd joined the navy or maybe the marines. But, it had all worked out.

Cap used the cycle computer to see where things were at. Alfred, aka bad penny, had put out a memo to all bat family members that cap had joined the party. Details about his origins were detailed further; although even that didn't due it justice. Only mentioned as an "extra dimensional meta human." Guess that's close enough.

He checked out what the various bat family members were doing at present. Knocking some heads together no doubt. The closest one was bat woman; Batman's cousin. Interesting. Family.

Cap found her location and rode off to meet her.

She was relatively close. She was dealing with organized crime in this east central portion of the city. And like cap the weather hadn't stopped her from doing her thing.

He pulled over and got off to find her. The bike gave him a general idea. He used his power to track her down further. He did. She was on a nearby rooftop doing surveillance. Cap scrambled up the building side almost as good as Spider-Man and reached the top a short time later. She was crouched by the rooftop edge in the rain with her back facing him as cap neared her.

She suddenly spun and threw a batarang at him. He called his shield to his arm and blocked the throwing weapon. She paused at this; another one ready in her hand. She then slowly stood in the rain. It was the unique shield with its lambda symbol that caught her eye.

"You're the new guy." He smiled a little in the rain. "You could say that. Steve Rogers." "I know. I read Alfred's memo." Cap picked up the deflected batarang and returned it to her. "Figure you need this more than me." "Suppose so." She took and secured it. "Bat woman." "Yes. Kate Kane when I'm not up here doing this." "I gathered that. Can I help?"

Kate didn't answer right away. Cap didn't take that as a negative. She returned to the rooftop edge. "I'm doing surveillance." "On who?" "A joint conspiracy. The dark faith and the owl league." Obviously cap still had to learn who these super villains were but they didn't seem nice either way. "Secret societies or something?" "More or less. Both have been increasing their activity here. I'm trying to piece together how. Bruce is more focused on external threats to Gotham right now. I'm focused on the internal."

"I see. Well, whatever I can do to help I will. I'm an adventurer of sorts I guess." He disappeared the shield. "Is that thing really magical?" "Something like that. Heavenly power or something." She nodded. "Very interesting." Pause. "You can help if you like. It might be boring though." "I'm totally okay with that. Again, Whatever I can do to help."

She jumped away from the rooftop edge to drop down into an alley below. Cap leaped away and dropped too. Kate used her cape to break her fall while cap used his power to do similar and land in a crouch. They stood in the rain nearly together.

She enabled her mask sensors and sought to collect more forensic data. Cap figured he was just along for the ride as it were. He kept watch as she did her thing.

He stayed a few feet behind in the rain as she went to a dumpster and reached into it. She pulled out a knife. It had dried blood on it. Cap didn't understand the significance of that if any. He figured she'd tell him when ready or he could just read the bat computer archives as well.

She turned it over in her hands. Cap figured she was trying to get detailed scans of it for analysis before the rain washed it clean. It seemed to be a good find. But cap was neither a scientist nor a detective. He was just a simple warrior; liberation was his specialty. He wasn't sure if Kane needed that right now but again he'd help however he could.

She then wrapped up the knife with some plastic from the same dumpster. She was apparently following leads in addition to surveillance. Multitasking. Cap got that. He also clearly got the bats had a solid forensic setup. It had few rivals.

She left the alley with him in tow. The rain was constant. She entered another connecting alley and went to her bike. She secured the evidence and got on. "I'll send you a text for the next location I'm going to. I've set up trackers here for anything unusual. That should help." He nodded. "Fine. I'll meet you there." "Cool." She started up and rode off. Cap returned to his bike saw the location and rode off for it as well.

It was just another dark and stormy Gotham night as the bad line went, but cap knew things could change fast in a place like this. And boredom was the greatest enemy of vigilance.
