When everyone in the room said those words, they put all their attention on Jay, who already had it, because he could tell that he was out of his mind, he was disconnected. He had been like this since the beginning of the case, ever since he read that poster.
"What is the problem Halstead?" - Voight asked Jay, hoping for an answer that would help him understand why they had a problem.
"Come this" - Jay pointed to a symbol on the blade.
"It is the symbol of the ARISS" - Jay answered quickly. You could see his concern.
"The ARISS? What does it mean?" - Adam asked, completely unaware of that word.
"It is a terrorist group. Probably the bloodiest and most ruthless of all. They are the ones behind the attack on the US embassy in Kandahar. " - Jay explained the group in detail. They were all paying attention to him.
"Hang on a minute. Are you saying that the bloodiest terrorist group is in Chicago? " - Kim asked Jay, with some doubt what Jay was saying was true.
"I'm sure. When I was in Afghanistan, on a mission, my team and I were heading to the base. When suddenly the Humvee in front of us exploded. It was an ARISS trap. This was the symbol my companions had when they were assassinated. " - Jay explained in a low voice, he was trying to keep his emotions in place and not affect him.
All those memories that he thought he would never have again were coming back and getting worse and worse. Everyone in Intelligence understood why Jay was acting so weird from the start of the case. Well at least they thought they knew why he was acting like this.
"Sergeant, we have to call the feds, this all makes sense. This Friday, Senator Hogan is coming to give a press conference. And Monday is the meeting with the senator from Vancouver. " Jay said to Voight, trying to get in because this was not to be taken lightly.
"Jay… are you sure it's them? We can't call the feds and say there is a risk of attack, just because you think they are. " - Voight explained, trying to convince him that if this was real, they had a serious problem.
"Sergeant, I am positive, that they are." - Jay affirmed to Voight.
What do you think? I hope you are liking the chapters.
