Kapitel III - Eevee

I didn't expect her to trust me this easily. She must have really been deprived of affection. At the slightest shade of kindness she realized that I could be the rope that she can hold onto. I have been like this since my last life. I never can leave behind someone in need or distress. This is the main flaw that those sickened crowds used against me. But to see such a helpless girl in a state of despair really pulled on my heartstrings.

- There hasn't been any information on Lady Penelope's background in the texts. But the game has said she was a descendant of the ancient mages . So I should look into it. It could be one of my trump cards for saving these poor souls.

Since this is the world I created, I know what to find where. My first target would be to build a reputation and secure a place in this retromodern world. I need money and connections. I need to be in a position for defending Penelope and the others. If only my powers could work ...

I placed my hand onto some tin cans that were lying around. A blinding glow emitted. The dirty cans now shone like lustrous precious metals. It worked ... transmutation.

- The taboo only was for the real world. Here it is my own world. Who will care if I can turn objects into gold !

I set to work . With all the trash metals I found, I turned into gold. Soon there was a sackfull of it. I visited the mint to exchange it, saying that I was foreign royalty- which was true to some extent. Everyone was dumbstruck, some even suspected me. Rumours started like wildfire. This continued for some days.

Now I have my funding. Since I didn't include any authoritative body - kings / emperors - in my work ( phew ! Thank goodness! ) I was able to stay relatively undetected. Even my gold was found to my 100% genuine , by the mint and inspection forces, so I was off the hook. Soon people got used to me.

Next I need to ensure people of my good intentions. Even though there wasn't any royalty, there are influential families. I need to incorporate into their circles to benefit everyone, including myself.

- I should look for a grand location to build my operating base. There's one detail I remember now ! I was quite fond of it ! The ancient derelict temple in the quiet outskirts of this city! Perfect !

I reached there by sundown. The place was tranquil. Surrounded by a rundown wall and amidst weedy greenery , a somehow cryptic structure. With a slight smile, I went to work . The world was bathed in blinding flashes.

Some more time passed. The temple was a good option because it contains many rare books and scrolls that I could revive. It would help me to assesss my situation and gain knowledge and information.

- I wonder what my dear Penny is doing now ?

Soon, a day came when the vehicle of a social lady broke near my base. I went straight for the aim. The lady was shouting angrily and doing phone calls. I greeted her pleasantly and asked her what happened. She seemed irritated. I winked and a glow surrounded everything. The car became brand new. Everyone was thunderstruck.

From there my remaining time began to fill with exchanging invitations and partying. All families, both above and below in rank, fawned over me. I met many good information brokers there.

- Seems like my immediate goals are fulfilled. Now you just wait Penny , your Onee-San is on her way !
