Imma be evil!

Dew stared down at her talons, grimacing. Tiny beads of sweat lined her forehead. "Come on Tidal! It's not like we're going to ever fight anyone. This beach is so secluded that we have to venture away to find prey!" She whined, her face scrunching up unflatteringly as her sister replied.

"Well, no, but what if there's a storm, and you get washed away and wash up on the Main Land's beach!" Tidal's voice was worried, but firm, "Again." The change of subject was so quick, that Dew had no time to register what was happening before Tidal had leapt at her. Dew stumbled, clumsily tumbling over in the sand in a feeble attempt to evade her sisters outstretched talons.

Of course, her sister would never actually attack her, Tidal didn't have it in her, but Tidal was always one for the dramatics, and acting. She always pretended that this was a real battle, and expected Dew to feel the same way.

Oh no, oh no, oh no. I was off-guard and she knew it, now I'm going to have to work twice as hard. Her mind whined, and she snapped back into reality. Dropping into a defensive stance, she watched closely as her oldest sibling inched forward, step by step, move by move. She was biding her time, Dew realised, waiting for her to grow frustrated, lower her guard and attack. Not gonna work this time, sister, dearest. Dew felt a burst of pride, having figured out her sisters strategy.

Tidal was playing a waiting game.

And two could play that game.

Dew's muscles ached, the training brought her great fatigue, but she still remained in position, her blue-grey scales shining, as if her determination shone through them. Any moment now, she should snap. Dew thought, although it was less observation than hope, And then, I'll be ready. Her wings flared out to each side, the wing membrane a pale silver. She bit back an arrogant remark, Arrogance could be my downfall... just... wait. Although, for each second that passed, it felt like a millennium had passed for impatient Dew.

"...Ugh!" Tidal exclaimed, at last falling into Dew's trap. She sprang into action, mimicking Dew's position, and then adjusting it slightly so it resembled a neutral position, not offensive nor defensive. She sank her claws into the sand with frustration, before leaping into the air towards Dew, using her wings to stabilise her descent. As she landed, Tidal swept her tail over the sand, spraying the golden grains of sand into the air. If she had meant to do any damage to Dew, it would have sprayed high enough to temporarily blind her, but Tidal was aiming for a momentary distraction.

"Is the little scavenger upset?" Dew taunted, although slightly hesitant. This is dangerous, but worth it. She hadn't been fooled by distraction, and she quickly recovered from the stray grains of sand that had lodged themselves in-between her scales, and the few in her eyes.

"Shut. Up. Dew." Her sister was frustrated now, gritting her teeth as she spoke. Dew smiled, elegantly making her way in a large circle around her sister.

"Make me, Tidal." That proved to be the final straw for Tidal, who launched herself at her sister. She slid to the side, far enough to cause her sister to miss, but close enough so she could gently rake her claws down her sisters side. Tidal's eyes widened, Dew had actually managed to trick her sister, and struck her at that. Using Tidal's moment of surprise to her advantage, Dew leapt at her bigger sister, pinning her to the ground. She then swiped her claws at her sisters neck, applying little pressure so it would cause little, if not no, damage.

"I won!" Dew exclaimed her voice a notch higher with pure joy, "I actually won!" She yelled, stepping off of Tidal, who just stared at her.

"Y-you did." Tidal recovered quickly, shaking the sand from her turquoise-blue scales. "For your first time in, what, ever?" The teasing tone returned to Tidal's voice, and Dew's features arranged themselves in a pout.

"You know that's untrue! I've won before.. maybe.." Dew complained.

"Maybe?" Tidal cocked an eyebrow, refraining from snorting with laughter. Dew grinned, and the grin seemed to be contagious, as Tidal grinned too.

"You too training again?" A new voice brought them back to reality, and both sisters span around to see their brother, Blobfish, grinning at them, "You know, it's not like we'll ever get attacked here!"

"That's what I was trying to tell Tidal!" Dew exclaimed, mock-annoyance lacing her voice. At her sisters murderous glare, she raised her talons, "Spare me!!!!" All three siblings burst into a contagious fit of laughter, causing their parents to smile to themselves proudly from inside their hut.
