The world of Remnant has another name: Midgard. It's one of the Nine Realms of Yggdrasil, the World Tree. Alongside it, there's also Jotunheim, Svartvalheim, Vanaheim, Nidavellir, Niflheim, Muspelheim, Alfheim and above all, Asgard, the Crown Jewel of the Realms. Ruled by the Allfather, Odin, Asgard is a home for the most legendary figures in all of creation. One such legend is the son of Odin himself: Thor.

Kanaguri was under attack. The poor Mistral village was under siege by a pack of wild Ursa Grimm. They stampeded out of the forest to attack the villagers. There were some Huntsmen there, but the Ursa made quick work of them.

One Ursa heard the despairing cries of a little girl and followed the sound. It found her instantly and growled. It raised its claw ready to strike when…

BOOM!

A lighting bolt burst from the sky and struck the Grimm and saved the girl. When it made impact, the sound of metal echoed through the village getting the attention of all the monsters. When the lightning cleared and the Ursa beneath disappeared, a large man stood with his hammer planted on the ground. It was Thor himself.

Thor stood up exposing his godly figure. He had a silver, winged helmet over his long, golden hair that flowed with his red cape. His armor was mostly silver save for his black vest and bare arms. He also had on a pair of black boots. In his hand, he carried his signature weapon, Mjolnir, an enchanted hammer said only to be carried by whoever is worthy.

The Ursa roared as they charged at Thor, but he wasn't intimidated at all. Instead, he spun his hammer around building up electricity. He stopped it by pointing his hammer right at the Grimm that attacked. A bolt of lightning escaped Mjolnir and it instantly vaporited the Grimm. The rest of the pack charged at Thor, who proceeded to give his battle roar before fighting back.

As each Grimm came closer, Thor swung his hammer at them which was basically like swinging a steel beam across a man's face. Each Grimm had to be struck down two or three times to be completely taken down by simple hammer strikes. In the end, only one Grimm was left. The Ursa roared, but Thor wasn't phased.

"I accept your surrender." He taunted. The Ursa attempted to attack, but Thor countered with a hammer strike while Mjolnir was covered in lightning. That was enough to vaporize it.

The crowd of innocent bystanders cautiously showed themselves and observed the stranger who saved their home. Smiled began to form which was then made into an applause. Thor took the praise and decided to address the crowd.

"Today, your village has been saved." Thor declared. "The Grimm were mighty, but none could stand the power of Mjolnir. Now, I must be off to let you rebuild and…"

"Wait!" shouted a gruff voice. Thor stopped when he saw a large man with tan skin, black clothes, and a brown, sleeveless jacket emerge from the crowd. "Do you really intend to leave?"

"Apologies." Thor said. "Are you in charge of this village?"

"No." the big guy answered. "I'm just a concerned citizen. The name's Hazel Rainart. I just want to express my wishes for you to remain here."

"I share your wishes, Sir Rainart," Thor said, "But alas, I need to be elsewhere."

"As you wish." Hazel said. "You saved a lot of people here. I just wish my sister could be saved too."

That comment got Thor's attention. He could see how much Hazel missed his sister and gave deep thought. He nodded, gave his farewell, and flew off. He landed in a secluded area before lifting Mjolnir to the sky.

"Heimdall, open the Bifrost!" Thor commanded.

All of a sudden, a bright pillar of rainbow light surrounded Thor. He disappeared into it and, in just a minute, found himself back at the observatory where his friend and guardian of the Bifrost bridge, Heimdall, stood with his sword in hand.

"Hail, Thor Odinson." Heimdall greeted. "I'm sorry to tell you this, but your father requests your presence in his throne room."

Thor raised an eyebrow confused.

Odin sat on his golden throne looking at Thor with his one good eye. He held his mighty spear, Gungnir, with one hand and tapped the fingers of his other on his throne's arm.

"You wish to see me, Father." Thor said.

"Yes, Thor." Odin said. "It has come to my attention that you have been making frequent visits onto Midgard."

"Aye. Is that a problem?" Thor asked.

"It is." Odin answered. "Why do you insist on meddling with mortal affairs?"

"Father, the mortals of Remnant are plagued by creatures of Grimm." Thor said. "They have been getting stronger and smarter over time. I simply feel that it is my responsibility to…"

"Midgard already has those qualified to handle the monsters. They are called Huntsmen." Odin interrupted. "I thought you would have learned your lesson after a few years ago after you conjured up a storm and struck that young girl with lightning."

"That was an accident, and she survived." Thor said. "That's beside the point."

"Thor, your obsession with the mortals have blinded you from your true place in Asgard. And now, I have heard that you are considering making Remnant your new permanent home."

"What?" Thor asked with surprise in his eyes. "That's not true. Father, where did you hear these rumors?"

"It matters not." Odin replied. "Here's how things are to be done from now on. You are to remain on Asgard for the foreseeable future and not return to Remnant until further notice."

"This is absurd!" Thor protested. "The people of Remnant need me!"

"They do not!" Odin argued. "Your place is here! Leave the mortals to solve their own problems! That is the final word!"

Thor looked at his father with resentment. He lifted his hammer and stormed out of the throne room.

Thor couldn't help but think about his conversation with Odin. He paced in his chamber upset.

"Father doesn't understand." Thor said to himself. "I have the power to save them. Why shouldn't I?" He sighed as he turned his head to a photo. It was him with a young man in dark-green clothes. Thor sighed as he gazed at the picture. "I know he's still grieving over what happened with Loki, but that's no excuse for controlling me. I need to show him somehow."

That's when Thor had an idea.

Thor crossed the rainbow bridge to Heimdall's observatory. He confronted his golden-armored friend.

"I need you to take me to Midgard." Thor said.

"Against the Allfather's wishes?" Heimdall asked. "Surely, you've gone mad, Prince Thor."

"You don't understand." Thor said. "Look, down at Midgard, a man came to me. He said he wished I was there to save his sister. That got me thinking. All these years, and here I was partying and training while millions of innocent lives were being taken. The Huntsmen are mighty, but they cannot stop the monsters forever. At least, with me, many more lives will be saved. I can't help but feel burdened after not being able to do anything."

At first, Heimdall didn't say anything. He just stared at Thor with his golden eyes. He then shrugged and walked out of the observatory. "Very well. Go."

"You're opening the portal for me?" Thor asked.

"My duty to the throne is my bond." Heimdall answered. "I can't open the portal."

Thor was confused for a second. But then, he turned and saw Heimdall's sword still in the main slot. Thor smiled and grabbed the weapon by its hilt.

As soon as Thor opened the portal and made his way to Remnant, he began his journey to help the people. However, as soon as he left, Odin stormed out of the city to the observatory with his royal guard. It was there where he found Heimdall laying on the floor in front of the door groaning.

"Heimdall, get up!" Odin beckoned. The Bifrost keeper slowly rose to his feet feeling his head. Meanwhile, the guards entered the chamber to investigate. "What happened?"

"I… I don't know." Heimdall said. "I was at my post when suddenly, I felt something strike me in the head. I just woke up."

"The Bifrost just opened and my son is nowhere to be found!" Odin said. "I fear that it's just as you've told me, Heimdall. Thor is planning to stay on Midgard."

"What?" Heimdall asked. "Allfather, forgive me, but I never told you such a thing."

Odin shared in Heimdall's confusion. "This isn't right. If you didn't, then who…"

"Allfather Odin!" one of the guards shouted as he ran out of the portal chamber. "Heimdall's sword! It's missing!"

"What?" Odin asked. "How is this possible?"

Just outside of the Bifrost, on top of a large body of water, there was a rock with a man on top. It was Heimdall… yet it wasn't. After looking up and smiling at Odin's confusion, a green wave of light covered him changing from Heimdall to the same dark-green-suited man in Thor's photo: Loki. He entered the dark cave in the rock and disappeared.

Hazel Rainart, the man who spoke with Thor earlier, rested himself on the wall of a Mistral hotel. The door opened and he opened his eyes to look. He wasn't surprised to see Loki enter the room with Heimdall's sword in his hand.

"So it's done?" Hazel asked.

"Yes, Hazel." Loki said. "And you played your part well. Sharing your grievance to my self-righteous, adopted brother gave him just enough motivation to defy the Allfather and spend much time here in Midgard. By the time he decides to return to Asgard, it will be too late."

"I always knew you were smart enough to pull this off, Loki." Greeted a woman's voice. A young girl in a red dress walked in accompanied by two teenagers. One was a tan girl with green hair and red eyes. The other was a boy with silver hair and a black-and-blue outfit.

"Cinder." Loki greeted the woman in the red dress.

"I'm glad you're willing to betray your family." Cinder said.

"Thor and Odin are far from my family." Loki said. "Odin murdered my true father and raised me alongside Thor to make the arrogant brute look even better. He took me in only to make me look like nothing."

Cinder shared a sympathetic look and placed her hand on his cheek to calm him down. "I know how that feels."

Loki smiled at Cinder. The two of them then shared a kiss which made everyone else feel awkward looking at.

"Really?" asked the silver-haired teen. "Right now?"

Loki and Cinder broke their kiss.

"So you're certain this will work?" Cinder asked.

"Cinder, my dear, I have no doubt." Loki said. "When all this is over, we won't just be ruling Midgard, but all the Nine Realms will be at our mercy."

Author's Note: So that's four chapters down. Only two left. And then, I can get started with the main plot.

The reason I shipped Cinder and Loki together was because I thought it'd be a fitting evil couple. After all, given their histories, they have a lot in common. It's my personal opinion on the matter.

Any and all comments are welcome.
