Chapter 2 - Part 2
La Push High. From what I could see it wasn't big. Just big enough to house a few hundred students. I watched from the inside of my pick up truck how students arrived. Greeted each other. Walked in to the school with each other.

Some of them turned their heads in my direction. Clearly knowing that I was the new one. Whispered to one another. I could perfectly hear them, but that was not what I was on the look out for.

I could handle them. That was clear. I was however on high alert. When I had passed the border I felt something. It felt like a warning. That I had just passed pack territory, but that couldn't be, right…?

I grabbed my bag pack from the drivers seat, took in a deep breath and got out of my car. Again a few heads turned in to my direction. Students whispered. I tried to ignore it all, but that was hard with the extended hearing I got.

I scanned the area for any signs of… well Shape Shifter's. I didn't see any tall muscular boysso far, but maybe they were already headed inside. With that I walked in to the crowded hallways.

Students were hanging out by the lockers. Grabbing new books, putting other school books they didn't need in to their lockers. They talked to their friends. Probably to catch up because we just had spring break behind us. Although I wondered if they needed to catch up.

"Oh look. That is the new girl who lives in Forks." I heard someone whisper. I grimaced. Tried to ignore the comment. "She looks like she doesn't want to be here." Her friend said back. Well, she was right about that. I didn't want to be here. Just when I arrived at the principals office two boys came out, grinning. Two tall, muscular boys. Their scent hit my nose immediately. I tried to stay calm. Not to panic.

"We're lucky we didn't get detention this time." One of them said to his friend, grinning widely. I wondered what they had done to end up at the principals office before school had even started.

They looked at me shortly when they passed me, just like I looked at them. Could they be…? No, if so, I was screwed, for sure. That was clear to me now.

"Did you…?" I heard the right boy asked his friend. The one on the left shook his head. I wondered what they were talking about, but decided not to give it any thought. Not for now though.

"Luna Rogers isn't it?" The secretary of the principal asked me when I entered his office. I nodded.

"You can walk right through this door." She pointed me in the direction of another door.

"Thanks." I muttered to her. I didn't bother to knock. Sure it would be polite, but I had a feeling he was expecting me. Gran told me to see him first.

"Luna Rogers. Welcome, please sit." He said, looking up from his work when I entered his office. It wasn't big. There were a few book cases filled with books, maps and so on. His large, wooden desk with a computer on it. Also a few pictures. I didn't see what was on them, but I suspected that they were pictures of what was dear to him.

"Let's see. You have transferred from Langundo Reservation, right?" he wasn't one to chit chat. That he made immediately clear. I nodded.

"Okay. Your grades are good. Keep it up. Here is your schedule." He said when he picked up A piece of paper and handed that to me. I looked at it. Tried to hold my grudge for math to myself. Saw that it was the very first thing to start with on monday morning. Just my luck. First I found out there is a possible pack living in La push. Now I find out that I start the week with Math? Great. Just great.

"Here is the information about your locker and it's combination." The principal handed me another piece of paper that I took.

"And ah. Here is your set of books." He said. I grimaced when he placed the pile of books on it's desk. Now I was in luck that I had the strength of a shape shiter, but imagine how heave it would be if I did not have my strength. I put a few of the books in my school bag, but decided to carry the rest to my locker.

"Alright. I think that is about it. Enjoy your time at school here miss Rogers. Now off you go." With that he dismissed me. He did not even tell me where I could find the math classroom or my locker. He just went back to his work. I just stood there for a few moments before deciding that I would give it a try to find everything myself.

"One hundred and twenty three." I muttered to myself. That is when after some time of searching for it I found my new locker.

I didn't hurry. The bell had already rang and I had yet to find my classroom. After having put the right books in my bag and the rest of it in my locker I looked at which classroom I had to go too.

Twenty five. Yep. That should be easy to find, right? If I knew where to go… I looked around the hallway, but it was empty except for the girl who I had seen yesterday in the grocery store. She was in a hurry. Probably late for class when she noticed me standing in the hallway. Lost.

"Oh hey. Didn't I meet you at the grocery store yesterday?" she asked when she came closer. I nodded. From her scent I knew she was with one of them so I was just a tiny bit cautious.

"Do you know where classroom twenty five is?" I then asked her, not knowing what to see to her question. So decided to change the subject.

"Math, right? That is the same class as I have. Come on. I'll show you." She said with a soft and kind smile. Claire guided me, while chatting a lot. Told me all there was to know about the school in the few minutes that we walked together. I on the other hand stayed quiet. Listened to her. Answered a question every now and then.

Nerves settled in when we arrived at the classroom. She opened the door, making the teacher look up from his work.

"You're late Miss Young." The teacher said sternly to her.

"Sorry. I slept in and also brought someone with me." She explained to him and move aside to reveal me.

"Ah. Miss Rogers. Our new student. Welcome to La Push High. My name is Mister Stack." He introduced himself to me. Where our principal was bold he however had lots of hair. Long, black hair.

"Hey." I just said softly. Not sure what to say.

"Let's see. Why don't you sit next from Miss Young? She will be able to help and show you where we are now." I nodded nervously, but Claire beamed happily. I scanned the class room. Saw the two boys that I saw this morning sitting all the way in the back. I shivered. Why on earth did I have a class with them? Was I out of luck?

"Come on!" Claire said happily. Dragged me to two empty spots in the back. She sat me down right next to one of the boys.

"Hey. I am Brady." He sat. I just smiled at him. He had his hand stick out to me, but I didn't shake it. I wasn't sure if I wanted to make friends here. Besides. If there was another pack, he definitely was one of them and I didn't want to come close to any of them.

Brady pulled his hand back. He was disappointed. I could read it from his face.

"I just wanted to be nice." He muttered irritated. Probably not realizing I could hear him loud and clear. That is when the teacher started to talk again. Claire showed me where they were and that is when my first day off school at La Push high officially had started.

Lunch came around way too quickly. The first few classes had gone quite well. Claire was in most of those classes as well Brady and Collin (Claire told me who who was). I wasn't sure if I liked it or not, but with lunch she told me she usually sat with her boyfriends and their friends.

"Claire, you coming?" one of her friends asked her when we stood at my locker. I looked up at her.

"Go." I told her. She seemed to hesitate.

"If you need…" she began, but I interrupted her. "Go. I'll be fine." I reassured her. She seemed to hesitate once more, but then decided to listen to me. I sighed softly. I was now standing at my locker, alone. Got the books I needed for this afternoon.

Heads still turned in my direction when I walked in the direction of the cafetaria. Claire had showed it to me earlier. In a way it was nice that she cared so much about me, even though I was a complete stranger to her.

On the other hand I tried very hard not to make any new friends.

It was busy when I arrived at the cafeteria. Lots of group of friends sat together at their own table. I even spotted a large group of tall, muscular boys. Great, just my luck. Again. I wanted to turn around, sit outside, but it had started to rain so I decided that staying indoors was much better.

I walked through the cafetaria. Looking around for an empty table when I finally found. From here I also had a clear view of the group with all the tall muscular boys. I tried to count them. Ten at least. Claire sat with them, along with a few other girls.

"Don't bother looking at them." A voice all of a sudden said. I looked up to see a girl with dark brown, curled hair standing in front of me.

"They never let anyone in." She muttered when she sat down. "Not even their best friend." She continued.

"You know them?" I asked her curious. She shrugged. "Just those two." She pointed at Brady and Collin. Well, I had a feeling why they wouldn't let her in anymore, but I wasn't going to spill our secret out to her. Besides, why did I decide to even talk to her? I wasn't here to make friends. I just wanted to go through highschool.

"Used to be best friends with Collin and Brady… Till they…. Changed." She shrugged.

"Oh well. Nice chatting to you." With that she stood up again, left the table. I wasn't sure what to think of her. Who was she? Did she only talk to me because I had looked at the group of tall, muscular people? Claire had not mentioned a best friend from Brady and Collin, but maybe she was about too when we would walk to our next class, but Claire didn't.

Instead she chatted on about the school, her life. Threw everything on the table that I was not interested in, but saying no was out of the option. It seemed like it that Claire had made it a personal mission to become friends with me.

The harder I pushed her away. The harder she did her best to come close to me. I was going to do my best though not to get too close to her.

"How was school?" gran asked me when I arrived back home in the afternoon. I sighed.

"Boring. Met someone named Claire Young today." Gran smiled widely when I told her that.

"She is a lovely young woman. You should bring her home sometimes. Claire could become…" I knew exactly where she was going with that.

"Gran. No…. I had friends, back home, but they all turned their back on me after…. After…. Well you know." I muttered.

"Kevin didn't.' She pointed out. Which was true. Kevin stayed true to me. He didn't like it how Blake's pack was treating me. Often said something about it, but that only resulted in him being punished by Blake. The poor guy had to run a lot of extra patrols because of what he said about me every single time.

"Yeah. That is true, but…" Gran didn't even let me finish.

"Just give her a chance, okay? I nodded. Hoping it would change the subject to something else.

"Gran?" I then began when we walked in to the kitchen and I saw the forest. All of a sudden I felt that urge to go for a run. To feel the wolf inside of me again.

"Is it okay if I go for a run?" I asked her, hesitated a bit about it though, but I needed to blow some steam off.

"Okay, but be careful. You're on your own Luna." She reminded me. She didn't have to remind me about that. I knew I had to be careful. I knew I was no match to a vampire. They would beat me in a second.

"I'll be careful. I promise." She nodded. Giving me permission to go. In a way I didn't have to ask for permission. I could easily decide for myself if I wanted to go, but still loved to tell gran what I was up to.

"Thank you." I whispered when I hugged her.

As soon as I hit the tree line from the forest I got rid of my clothes and changed in to my wolf form. I felt the heat running along my spine, bones twisted and turned and in a few seconds I stood on all fours.

I almost expected to hear the voices of my pack members, but it stayed quiet. There were no voices to be heard. No memories or thoughts to be seen or read. There was nothing. Just silence. Just my own thoughts.

It was scary, but a relief at the same time. The things boys thought off…. I shivered for a moment.

That is when I started to run. First a bit slow, but then at full speed. I felt happy. Content. There was no drama here in my wolf form. Just me. That is when a scent hit me. I skidded to a halt. Looked around, but saw nothing. Only smelt their scent. I shook my head. No, this was impossible.

The signs were all there, but I still didn't want to believe it. Just when I wanted to turn around to go back I stood frozen when I saw a large chocolate brown wolf in front of me.

He looked at me in surprise. I had a feeling he tried to contact me, but he couldn't. Well, this was it. It was proof. There were other shape shifters here. There was no denying it anymore. That is when I recognized his scent. It was the boy who I met in the grocery store yesterday. Why on earth did I keep on meeting them?

We looked at each other in shock for a moment until he stepped aside and let me go. Now it was my turn to look in surprise at him, but he nodded. Told me that it was okay.

He was no alpha, but he could have kept me here till his own Alpha arrived, but he didn't. I nodded as a thank you. I picked up my speed. I was definitely in a hurry to get home. Gran must have known about them, but why didn't she tell me the truth? Why would she lie about it to me? I shook my head. Now what? Did I have to talk to the alpha? Ask for protection or…? I didn't know.

Pack

"So there is another wolf running around in the area?" Sam asked curious when Quil had told them what had happened in the forest when he came back from patrol. Quil nodded.

"Yep. Pure white fur. Not big though. Doesn't look like she is able to defeat a bloodsucker on her own." Quil commented when he walked over to Claire and gave her a soft kiss. Happy to see she is still in one piece.

"Can we confirm it is the new girl? Luna Rogers?" Sam then asked. Quil nodded.

"Recognized her scent from yesterday in the supermarket." Sam nodded.

"But why would she be on her own without a pack?" Emily asked curious when she entered the living room with cookies. She put the plate on the table. The boys immediately grabbed a cookies. They were in luck this time that the girls had yet to arrive. Normally they had to wait.

"That is a question only she can answer." Sam sighed. Looking a bit frustrated with it all, but smiled when Emily handed their five month old daughter to him a few minutes later. A smile appeared on his face as soon as she held her. He would do everything for his daughter and his wife Emily.

"So, what do we do?" Paul asked when he entered the living room. Followed by Jared. The two boys had just come back from their patrol rounds. Having heard the conversation that was going on inside the house. They both sat down on the couch. Shoving two other young shape shifters on the ground. They two younger wolfs started to protest, but with one look from Paul they shut up. They knew not to miss with him.

"Be nice Paul." Emily said, hitting him with a wooden spoon. Paul groaned. Rubbing the spot on his head where Emily had hit him.

"What we do? We give her time." Sam said calmly. "And I'll see if Billy is free this or next week so we can visit her and talk to her." Sam wanted to see if she wanted to join his pack. Knowing that a wolf on her own is vulnerable. An easy target for vampires. He wanted to give her the safety of a pack, but only if she wanted to join his pack. He was however not going to force the girl. No. Far from it. Sam hoped she would join his pack because she wanted to. For now they would just keep an eye out on her.
