My bad for the fragmented writing, I'll work on making that less so. Brain had a base in the amazon, they brought a small genetic abomination home named Chewy. Roy is changed his moniker to Red Arrow and decided to work alone for the foreseeable future. It just wasn't worth wasting time on.

Mount Justice July 1st, 2010 1:15

"So why were the British the bad guys?" Meghan asked, Robin laughed, "They were taking advantage of the colonies and they had enough so there was a fight. The colonies were a major underdog so the fact that we won was awesome. So, we celebrated our governments formation every year since."

Meghan nodded. "And that's why we need to do a cookout?" "Yeah, that covers it. We need to get our shopping done ahead of time which is why we're planning ahead."

Robin's communicator pinged. "Team Report to the mission room"

Roy and Batman were waiting for the team as they collected.

"So Red, are you coming back?"

"No, I'm just brining you guys a gig, it's a little outside my skill set."

The team convened and Roy explained himself, "Two weeks ago, Doctor Sirlin Rokette was kidnapped by the League of Shadows, I rescued her, but she finished the project they were forcing her to work on. It's called the fog, a cloud of micro-bots that can eat through anything and steal corporate secrets to be sold to the highest bidder."

"Your mission is to protect Doctor Rokette until she completes the counter-virus and to upload it into the mist. Batgirl is already tracking a lead in Gotham. Robin, Zatanna you will go to assist."

Red Arrow continued, "The shadows are going to be in a rush to kill her and to use the mist as proactively as possible. Good luck, guys"

Robin spoke out, "What so were doing this mission for you? That doesn't sound like you." Red Arrow scowled, "I'm not teaming up with you guys, I'm not playing, they're babysitting all of you. I took an opportunity to give you guys a real mission."

Dick nodded, "Ok take care." "Yeah, you too."

Doctor Rokette(Row- kett) was, disagreeable but reasonably in her situation. She was hesitant to risk her life to locate the fog, but agreed, it was necessary, it confirmed the fog was in Gotham, but the shadows would be closing in. She worked quickly, but not quickly enough. The shadows would come after dark.

Zatanna and Miss Martian were on perimeter. Aqualad and Kid Flash were in the computer lab with the doctor. Robin and Zatanna arrived in downtown Gotham via Zeta-tube.

"Hey boy wonder! Long time no see! Who's the friend?" Dick waved greeting to his long-time co-worker, "Hey Batgirl, this is Zatanna. Zatanna here's Batgirl." "Hey magician, let's get to work."

Batgirl and Robin grappled to the roof tops. The young magician stopped for moment, "Uh guys?" she exclaimed awkwardly. Batgirl and Robin looked down at her for a moment. Robin was quick to respond, "My bad I got it." He grappled back down to retrieve Zatanna and they were off.

"We need to find the fog, its stored in a cylindrical container about three feet tall, it's going to weigh fifty pounds easy when loaded. So, it's in a vehicle."

Batgirl turned Robin's head up from his scanner to show him the black swarm rising above a parking lot. "Oh."

Aqua Lad stayed low, watching the windows and doors, Kid Flash was in the science hallway, watching the doors at either end. Meghan was camouflaged waiting on the roof, it would have to be enough. Aqua lad shifted stance not eager to be comfortable or to overstretch any muscles. 'I can't decide if the shadows are going to wait until the dead of night or simply nightfall.'

Kid shuddered, trying to shake off his anxiety, 'I'd rather fight an army of ninjas than sit here all night waiting for one of them.' Meghan made a concerned noise, 'I'd rather Batgirl, Robin, and Zatanna stop the swarm before that matters.'

Kid went quiet, relieving his teammates of the unnecessary chatter.

They stayed like this for almost an hour, Aqua Lad repositioned again, Kid Flash drummed his fingers on his knees, eager to keep the nervous energy to a minimum. Miss Martian focused on being acutely aware of every mind within a mile of them, careful not to intrude deeply, and careful to ignore the doctor completely for both their sakes.

Then Miss Martian got something, she almost missed it, the blank emotionless calmness, like a still pool of water. Once she focused, Meghan could feel the murderous intent, followed by a less focused less determined mind, 'Someone is coming, I've got two people.'

Kid Flash, Dr. Rokette, Aqua Lad and Miss Martian did their best to stay calm, the evening was about to be very eventful. Aqua Lad could sense the woman's blood pressure rising, 'Keep working doctor, we will keep you safe.'

Meghan stayed acutely aware of the shadows' movements. 'There are two of them, it's Cheshire and Tigress. Tigress is coming up on the roof.' 'Disable her, carefully.' Kid Flash jumped from door to door, waiting for any sign of the lethal assassin, pausing at the sound of a creak, just long enough for a dart to hit its mark on his neck.

Kid flicked the dart away, 'Guys a dart just-,' he collapsed before he could finish. Aqua Lad didn't move,' Meghan throw Tigress off the roof and come down to assist Kid. I can't reveal my location yet.' Meghan did as their leader instructed. The blonde would-be assassin yelped in surprise.

Aqua Lad blocked the dart meant for Dr. Rockette with his water-bearer, forming a shield. Cheshire dropped to the floor before he could counter-attack throwing two more darts. He attempted to block those as well, one of which caught in his shoulder. Feeling a familiar sting he pressed his attack. Cheshire dodged and twirled around, trying to change the fact that he was between her and the doctor. "Do you like that poison?" "Jellyfish Toxin, I am highly immune."

The water bearers took the form of blades to parry her next attack, they locked blades "Shall we test that immunity?"

While Batgirl followed the fog, Robin and Zatanna into dropped the parking garage, the van in question had a guy in a gold helmet in the driver seat. Robin and Zatanna took to cover, after circling around, Robin pitched a tear-gas grenade in the open window, the resulting gas cloud sent a wheezing and staggering shadow out into the open, where Zatanna cast a spell, "dnib ylluf" his wrists and legs brought together and held there with magic.

"Very Nice" both the teens turned to see Sports master approaching, spinning a javelin in one hand, "Let's see how many more of those you got in you." Robin dropped into his fighting stance, expanding his quarterstaff, "We don't need magic to kick your dollar store super villain ass."

Sports master's reaction was to immediately throw his javelin at Robin's chest, who evaded with a spin, the boy wonder was quick to throw a bola, Sports master swung out his leg letting wrap uselessly around his right leg. Then the shadow was on him sabre in hand, swinging fast, Robin dodged each attack evading with grace, "You call that a remise?" Robin summoned his best Gordon Ramsay impression "ITS SHIT!"

Having successfully provoked the assassin, landed a gas grenade firmly on Sports master's chest. Robin let the villain advance, parrying a lunge. Robin kept backing up there was about four feet between his back and the edge of the building. "Come on Crusher I thought you knew how to swing a sabre?"

Robin parried another lunge, his heel touched the cement barrier meant to keep cars in the building, Robin jumped onto it and moved to make space for Sports master, Who was eager to join him and keep pressing his attack "dinw fo egrus taerg" Zatanna shouted sending a burst of wind flying at the two duelists. They both caught the wind, robin more so, using his cape, he was thrown into the open throwing a bola to tie his opponent's arms, then tackled him onto the floor below Zatanna.

Sports master hit the ground hard, not having any ability to break his fall or manipulate his landing, was greatly winded. Robin landed lightly on top of him, delivering an electric jolt to keep him down. "Good Night, Lawrence."

Robin stood and turned on his radio "Zatanna Go to the van and see if you can recall the swarm! NOW!" Zatanna franticly opened the laptop, and started looking "I don't see anything, the fog is ripping through the Wayne Enterprises' systems." "Calm down look for a kill switch, a command entry anything like that" "You should get up here there's nothing here."

Aqua Lad Grunted with pain, that was five darts now, Cheshire really liked playing with her food. Aqua Lad did not yield, Dr. Rockette let out a psychic sigh of relief, 'It's done, I'm starting the upload, I only need a few more minutes.'

Meghan threw the door off its hinges, straight at Cheshire, who flipped over it and stuck the landing, "Did you just try to cut me in half? With a door?" then a crossbow bolt came through the window. Miss Martian stopped it with her telekinesis, but more followed forcing the heroes to move away from the window, Aqua Lad kicked a monitor at Cheshire, she slapped it aside, and pressed her attack, two more daggers struck home, his Atlantian physiology was the only thing keeping him in the fight, his blood felt like it was going to start boiling.

Kid ran in and snatched up the doctor, zipping out in a rush of wind. Cheshire dropped a smoke bomb trying hard to pursue her prey. Meghan stopped her before she could make it to the window. "You're not going anywhere."

A gunshot rang out in the distance, Kid's voice rang in the two heroes' heads. 'FUCK THAT HURT! Shit, guys its De-' Kid's connection was cut off, "He's unconscious." Dr. Rockette, similarly cut off 'You said you would protect me!'

Sometimes one man can be the difference in a war. Looks like Artemis is that one man. We can finally get underway properly. Hope you enjoyed, more soon. Super boy coming soon.
