As people poured into the classroom, Raya felt a certain sense of uncomfortableness that came along with every person that walked into the classroom. Raya didn't dare to look at anyone else in the eye, to avoid contact and awkward conversations with the students in the class.

Just introducing herself not long ago, was already embarrassing enough for the girl. In her mind, she was now thinking that people would be walking up to her, asking her questions, and talking to her. Something that she used to like, but now she just resents it after years of bad interactions and memories at her former school.

Class was rather normal. None of the teachers bothered her much, she was free to keep to herself and be in her own quiet world, learning and studying. However, she knew her classmates were casting looks at her as class passed, presumably curious about her, the new transfer student.

The first day of class passed rather quickly, and now, it was already lunch time. Raya looked down as most of the class walked out of the classroom, leaving her and another few people left in the class. Raya didn't look at the rest of the class, but she could tell that the others were probably already casting weird looks at her, commenting how weird she is.

Then, out of the corner of her eye, Raya spotted a boy walking towards her. The boy had black messy hair and his shirt wasn't tucked in. His entire appearance was just rugged and messy. Inside Raya's mind, she guessed that he was one of the troublemakers in the class.

"Raya, is it?" asked the boy casually, as he walked up to her. "Yes," Raya said nervously, not daring to look up at him. As if a glance at him would kill her.

"Cool, I'm Danny," the boy said, introducing himself, sitting on Raya's table, which made Raya shudder a bit. "So, you wanna hang out together, you know, me and you?" asked Danny.

Raya didn't know what to say, on one hand she was kinda flattered, on the other, she was a bit intimidated by the actions of Danny, feeling uncomfortable around her new classmate. She wasn't sure how to even start. "Uhm… Well… I… N-nice to meet y-you," Raya stuttered, nervously, she knew she was already making a big fool of herself. "Uhm… I… really… I am not sure… how to…"

"What do you mean?" asked Danny, sounding casual yet in some way, pushing, worrying Raya even more. "Danny, leave the poor girl alone," a familiar voice said, prompting Raya to turn around, it was Namaari. "Whoa, Nam. Just making a friend here," Danny raised his hands up, backing away from the girl, who obviously has some reputation in class. "No need to get so mad. She is all yours~"

"That is not the point! And can't you see that she is extremely uncomfortable?" asked Namaari firmly, glaring at the boy. "You better not do anything to her."

"I won't, I won't!" Danny said quickly before walking back to his seat, where a group of boys were sitting together, smiling at the boy, silently mocking Danny for his 'failure' while Danny just frowned at Namaari. "Freak," he spat, not loud enough for her to hear

"Hey, if anyone bothers you again, tell me," Namaari said, looking at the shy girl. "I can help." Namaari was always like the popular girl of the class, but she was nowhere like a mean girl in the class. She was somewhat the kindest girl there is to most people, while some people do dislike her, and has attempted to shame her a few times but failed.

Raya now looked at Naamari a little nervous. She was nervous, but not that nervous as before. In fact, she felt a certain sense of safety with the girl. "T-thank you… N-Namaari," Raya stuttered a bit. "You're welcome Raya, you wanna hangout, still got a long while before class starts," Namaari offered.

"Don't you have other friends?" Raya asked, curiously before realizing that the words didn't come off right. "Sorry, what I meant was-"

"Oh no, it's fine. I get what you mean, but like, I'm sure my friends are fine without me for one day," Namaari shrugged carelessly. "Plus, you look very lonely."

"I-I'm fine…" Raya answered. "Oh well, I'm going to the canteen, wanna join?" asked Namaari. Raya looked at Namaari, she wasn't sure what to make of her yet. But if she is offering, why not? Better than going about alone and having the guys walk up to her for who knows why. "S-sure," Raya said as she got up. "Great, follow me," Namaari said brightly.

As Namaari and Raya walked out of the class, Danny was talking to his group of friends. "Tough luck, bro," one of the boys said to him chuckling. "The bitch already has eyes on her."

"Yeah, I know," Danny frowned as he looked at Raya. "That damn girl sure likes to do this to me."

"I think you are being too judgemental, Namaari is just protective of the girls in class and the girls she knows, not really anything weird," another guy pointed out.

"Whatever," Danny scoffed as he looked at Raya's empy seat.

As Raya followed Namaari through the hallways of the school, she kept her head low, trying to ignore the looks some of the other students were giving her, trying to keep her face straight. Namaari grabbed Raya's hand for reassurance and Raya looked at Namaari but all Naamari did was smiled, "Hey, don't worry about everyone else, it's just us. Just me and you, ok?" Raya and Namaari couldn't help but blush at the same time. Namaari thought, "Damnit, she might think I'm weird. Her hands are soft, though… and now I'm hard… again… fuck… No… There is no way… I just met her… Well, she does look… nice… What the, what am I even thinking? I just met her. Namaari, snap out of it!"

Raya blushed and thought, "She's pretty… really pretty… her hands are slightly bigger than mine but soft, she has a weird haircut… but kinda attractive through… No no no… I just met this girl. What am I even thinking?" Raya shook her head slightly before looking back up at the girl, nodding slightly.

Raya wasn't sure whether to trust her or not. "What if she is going to hurt me? What if she is planning to use me?" Worrying thoughts filled Raya's mind as she walked down the corridor alongside Namaari.

Namaari looked at Raya. She knew that Raya was feeling scared. Perhaps more so than needed. Perhaps what Raya needs is a friend. Namaari took a deep breath and decided to ask the question, "Raya, would you like to be friends?" Namaari asked as she stopped and turned around to look at the other brunette.

Raya's mind, now stalled a bit while a word just rolled off her tongue without really thinking, "S-sure," Raya stuttered in response.

"You really need to relax Raya. You are way too tense," Namaari commented. "You know… the people around here are nice… well most of them are nice, but there is no reason to be this worried, you know?" Namaari asked reassuringly, as they reached the canteen, there were already a bunch of people there. "Alright, wanna get something to eat. Still got a long day of class." Namaari asked.

"Y-yeah, well. I… I forgot to bring money so…" Raya stammered as her hands moved to her pockets, mentally scolding herself about how she was so forgetful. "Oh, don't worry. I can pay for you," Namaari offered as she took money out and handed it to Raya, despite the girl's refusal. "N-Namaari… I can't take this… I think I will just go hungry for today," Raya mumbled.

"What? Are you crazy, Raya? You still got like 120 minutes of class ahead of you. You need to eat," Namaari pointed out. "You know what? You don't have to pay me. My treat," Namaari offered, smiling at the beautiful girl.

Raya couldn't believe what she was hearing. This girl she just met for not even like a day was trying to be friends with her and even giving her money to buy lunch? Was this all a trick? A scheme to come back to hurt her later?

"Come on, don't worry. You don't have to pay me back," Namaari offered.

Raya looked at Namaari, unsure what to make of this gesture of action, shakily, her hands took the money. "Thanks." Raya said nervously, before turning away, still thinking about whether to trust Namaari or not.

After a while, Namaari and Raya were seated at a table, Raya constantly keeping her head low. Namaari saw this and tapped Raya's shoulder. Raya looked up at her and Namaari said, "Why so down? What's wrong? Are you ok?" Raya just nodded and said, "Yeah, I'm fine, I just don't like the stares people give us. What's their problem?" Namaari looked around at everyone and then back to Raya. Namaari said, "It's nothing. People just haven't seen the popular girl next to the new girl before." Raya slowly nodded and asked, "Why are you popular? If I may ask."

Namaari blushed a bit but cleared her throat and said, "Well… Uhm… Do you promise to not freak out or anything?"

"Freak out? Why would I freak out?" asked Raya nervously. "Uhmm…. Nevermind…" Namaari mumbled as she decided not to tell her yet. "Oh ok," Raya said. Raya thought, "Did I make her sad? Why do I have to mess up everything!?" Raya started to freak out a bit and Namaari noticed this and grasped her hand softly and said, "Hey, it's not your fault, ok? I just don't want to talk about it right now. Ok?" Raya blushed but nodded and said, "I- I understand."

And like that, Raya and Namaari mostly spent the rest of the day together in school, with Raya slowly warming up to the girl. Raya was still awkward whenever they spoke, and the conversation they had wasn't much deep, just shallow. But Raya was warming up much more than Namaari thought she would. Mostly because Namaari was the first classmate to treat her so well in such a long time since she was bullied.

Soon. They made it to the end of the day, the end of school. When the bell rang, Raya was kinda feeling happy, because she didn't need to worry so much anymore. As Raya was arranging her stuff up, she saw a familiar girl walk towards her.

"So, I guess that's it for the first day huh?" Namaari asked, smiling. "Yeah, I guess it is," Raya answered awkwardly, before looking at Namaari briefly before looking down. "You know, you really need to loosen up," Namaari chuckled. "You're so tense."

"I-I'll try," Raya smiled faintly as she stood up, picking up her stuff. "Well, I still got team practice, I'll see you tomorrow, Raya," Namaari nodded, waving before turning around quickly.

As Namaari rushed off towards practice, she ran into her other friend, Michelle, who was looking at her as she came out from the classroom. "So, you are finally done with that shy and weird girl, huh? Bet she already gave you a hard on? Wouldn't blame you though, she does look beautiful."

"What? Just showing the new girl around," Namaari shrugged. "Nothing much, and she is not weird."

"You call stuttering like that not weird?" asked Michelle, scoffing a bit. "She is still new, ok." Namaari said, firmly. "She is just shy, there is nothing wrong with that."

"Whatever," Michelle scoffed as she turned around and walked away. "Come on, let's go, don't wanna be late." Namaari looked at Raya, they exchanged glances one more time before Namaari nodded and walked away.

"Yeah, see you tomorrow," Raya said, a bit softly as Namaari left the classroom, before looking down at her feet, taking a deep breath before carrying her bag on her back, walking out of the classroom. Her mind on how her first day was.
