Orges and Trolls
They must have made a very weird sight walking back to Bloom's place, but no one stopped them or asked questions. Bloom's parents had let them in with a very startled look and I was relieved to be able to place the sun fairy on the sofa. Bloom took the opportunity to explain what had happened to her parents, who were understandable disbelieving.
"Bloom, I'm not sure I understand. Can you run that by me again?" Mike, Bloom's dad asked with a frown.
"I already told you, she was attacked by some horrible creatures. She's some kind of fairy." Bloom repeated herself, but this time using less detail.
"Sun and moon fairy." I jumped in here having remained quiet up till then. "Which means she has a closer connection to fire and light spells compared to other fairies."
"I see." Mike said simple.
"So you believe us?" Bloom asked excitedly.
"No I don't. I think we should call the police and take this girl to the hospital." Mike walked over to the phone but was stopped by the fairy who had woken up.
"No… please. Don't tell anyone."
"She's coming too." Vanessa said, perching on the arm of the sofa and looking down at the girl who turned to look at her. "How do you feel dear?"
"Ha? I'm alright." The fairy sat up properly and looked to me and Bloom. "Thanks for helping me out."
"It was nothing." Bloom waved off kindly.
"Glad to be of assistance." I smiled.
"My names Stella." The girl introduced herself.
"Hi Stella, my name is Bloom."
"I'm Onyx," I offered simple.
"Should we call your parents Stella."
"Well, that would be difficult. I come from a place that's a bit far from here. Have you heard of Solaria?" Stella explained with an amused smile.
"Aren't you carrying a communicator or phone? I assume you're heading to Alfea, which means you're probably carrying an inter-realm phone?" I asked with a frown. Being from a royal family, Stella would be rich which then implies her parents would have ensured that she had a way of contacting them. Having an inter-realm wasn't common because of its expense, most communicators only reached a certain distance (on planet).
"Oh, I could. But they're expecting me to have arrived at Alfea already. They'll be angry if I tell them that I'm on Earth," Stella waved away.
"That's it. I'm calling the police. You are both clearly out of your mind." Mike announced, walking over to the phone. When he picked it up, he blinked in shock as the base of the phone turned into a cabbage and the speaker became a carrot.
"Well, clearly you aren't a first time Alfea student. Transformation." I whistled impressed. Transformation and charms wasn't something I really focused on, preferring to learn defence and offensive magic.
"Yeah, this will be my second year. Well, sort of. I'm repeating." Stella admitted sheepishly. "You believe us now?" Stella added in challenge to Mike who was just staring in disbelief at them.
"I saw her. And I believe her." Bloom looked at her father with wide eyes.
"Those creatures attacked me and I was forced to land here." Stella explained. "On your planet. Your daughter saved my lie. She pushed back the ghouls with an energy shield."
"Actually, I don't know how I did that." Bloom said sheepishly.
"A fairy doesn't need to know how, she just does it. That's all." Stella said proudly.
"I'm a fairy," Bloom repeated.
"I did tell you so. A little bit of training and you'll be able to grow some wings." I added.
"Have you registered for the new programme at Alfea castle, yet? It's the best school for young fairies like us." Stella asked.
"I'm registered." I admitted.
"No, I didn't know I was a fairy." Bloom said sadly.
"I've got a spare application at home. If you want me to go and get it?" I offered. If they got the application to the Headmistress with an explanation letter straight away then she would add Bloom to the list. Especially since Bloom was from Earth and there hadn't been a fairy from there in such a long time so it would be understandable about why she hadn't applied.
"No, no. Stop talking nonsense, please." Mike sunk into his arm chair.
"Why don't you go up to Bloom's room? Onyx if you could get the application? Me and Mike should talk it through." Vanessa smiled, seeing that her husband was having an issue accepting the situation.
"Of course. I'll be back shortly." I smiled at them before leaving the house.
I jogged back to my little tree house. Instead of just grabbing the spare application, I decided to pack everything away. I'd probably be travelling to Alfea with Stella and Bloom in the morning and it would be easier to have everything packed ready. Especially since both Vanessa and Bloom would encourage me to stay over for the night.
Despite having lived on Earth for nine years, I hadn't accumulated a lot of things, so I was able to pack it away into the backpack I'd started with and a suitcase which I had acquired. The suitcase mostly only had my extra weapons and bedding in, although I could call these weapons to my person from anywhere when I felt that the jewlery turned weaponry wasn't enough. This was something I had ensured was possible as I expanded my weapon arsenal because it wasn't normal to carry weapons around on Earth – or indeed, for a fairy to carry weapons in most planets unless they were guards.
Once everything was packed, I took one look around the tree house I had called home for more than half my life. It was a simple, small one room affair, with only enough space for my roll mat and a small space to sit in while reading. There was a window which could be opened by lifting the hatch and propping it up on some wood. But it was waterproof, and it had been my home for so long. I was going to miss this place, I decided. The woods were calm and quiet, and I was alone here. At Alfea, I would likely be sharing a room with others and I wouldn't be surrounded by the woods. That was going to be difficult.
Finally, I turned my back on my home and headed back to Blooms.
I arrived in time to see Bloom backing away from a group of ghouls only for an Orge to be thrown from the house and land on the ghouls.
"I was gone for like an hour." I muttered in disbelief, running so I could help. I arrived at Bloom's side as Stella was thrown through the window. She was back in her fairy form.
"Stella!" Bloom shouted in worry as a troll left the house.
"Don't worry, I've called the specialists." Stella climbed to her feet.
"Who?"" Bloom asked confused.
"Them." I pointed to the boys who had teleported onto the driveway.
They were all wearing the blue and white uniform of Red Fountain academy. The one with spiked purple hair had caught the troll with a whip around its neck before it could advance on us. There was a geeky looking ginger kid with a gun, a brown haired bored looking kid leaning on a large green sword and a blond one with a blue shield.
"Guy's I'm ready," the ginger haired one announced.
"Okay, let's take him to jail where he belongs," the blond one agreed, moving his sword into a ready position while also having his shield positioned to defend. Interestingly, he had the shield on his right side and his sword in his left hand – indicating he was either left hand dominant, or comfortable fighting with both.
"What's the rush, don't you want to have a little fun first?" The purple haired one asked cockily, despite clearly having to put some strength into restraining the troll. He had a forked type weapon in his left hand, and if he wasn't holding the whip in his right, I'm sure he would have its partner in hand or a sword.
"I wouldn't be so cocky if I were you, after all, this is only our first mission." The last one commented just as the purple one was thrown from his feet by the troll. He crashed into Bloom and Stella but I rolled out of the way. "I rest my case."
The troll advanced on the boys, dismissing me and the other girls as not being a threat. The blond one stepped forward and raised his shield.
"Stay behind me." the blond one told the ginger one, wincing slightly at the impact of the troll's fist on his shield. "Sky would you mind doing something."
The last guy, Sky, sighed. He straightened before slamming his large green sword into the ground. The sword must have created some kind of electric pulse because it created a crater under the troll stopping it from assaulting the shield.
"My turn," the red head announced, moving away from the one holding the shield and firing at the troll's feet. This caused it to fall into the crater.
"Yeah, well done." The blond one smiled, before turning to the ghouls. "But it's not over yet."
Purple one regained his feet, and raised his forked blade which extended into a sword. Interesting.
"Stay back girls." The purple one suggested before scrawling angrily. Clearly, he hadn't been happy about being thrown around. "Okay, who wants to meet my blade?" and with that he began attacking the ghouls.
Seeing the Orge approaching, and that this group didn't seem to have any teamwork, I darted into the group of ghouls that was rapidly thinning. Just as the Orge went to punch the purple haired one, I looped my arm through his left elbow and span him out of the way.
Despite the quick change in location, he reoriented and went to attack the Orge only for it to be blasted by Stella and Bloom.
"See, told ya you could do it." Stella complimented with a smile.
"Then, I'm really a fairy." Bloom smiled.
"Course you are, I'm never wrong." Stella said self-assuredly.
The Orge looked around, clearly not liking the odds, it clapped twice and teleported away. Once more he took the remaining ghouls with him, but left the troll behind.
"Thank you," the purple one nodded to me, returning his sword to its three-pronged state and putting it away.
"You're welcome. You should learn to be a bit more aware of your surroundings. Perhaps practise fighting your entire team at once?" I suggested.
The two of them approached the other boys, with Bloom and Stella also joining them.
"Bloom, Onyx meet our four heroes. Riven," she pointed to the purple one I was stood next to, "prince Sky," the brown-haired board one with the sword "Timmy," the ginger geekie one, "and Brandon, prince Sky's squire." The blond one.
"Hello." Brandon greeted them.
The troll lifted its upper body from the hole, but Timmy stepped forward and pulled a collar from his waist. He clipped it around his neck. "Hay you, where do you think you're going?"
"So, I'd say a successful first mission. But maybe you lot should practise your teamwork." I suggested as they moved around the troll. Clearly, they weren't going to stay around and chat, preferring to simple teleport away with their prisoner.
"Feedback, always appreciated." Riven smirked.
"See you later." Timmy, Brandon and Sky waved.
