Chapter 4
They got to her place and Alex was already there. She set the dinner table and everything. Amanda had never had dinner at the table like this, "Do y'all do this a lot?" They shook their head, "Yeah, we try once a week, but sometimes work gets in the way." Olivia saw Amanda wasn't moving, so she fixed her plate and put it in front of her. "I don't eat that much. I'm really not hungry." Melinda slid pills to her, "What does the bottle say?" Amanda picked it up, "Take with food." Melinda said, "So you eat."
Olivia sat by her, "Baby, eat as much as you can ok." Olivia couldn't believe what rolled off her tongue and she looked at her friends smirking. Amanda looked at the plate and thought, "She called me baby. The food is probably poisoned." She ate because she was scared not to. When everyone was finished they started to leave. Melinda told Amanda to take the pills after she showered, because they would knock her out. Olivia told Amanda to start scrubbing, "I cooked, you clean." She picked up the plates, while Olivia said goodbye to her friends.
She thought she would get some help, but then Olivia's phone rang. She waited until she was finished, "I'm done, so I'm going to head home. Thanks for dinner." Olivia wasn't letting her off that easy, "No problem. Where do you live, I'll take you." Amanda didn't want to tell her or show her. She lived in her aunt's apartment and it was a dump, cheap, but a dump. She got jumped a week ago and had been staying in the crib at narcotics. "I don't want to." Olivia was confused, "You don't want to, what?"
Amanda thought she never trusted anyone, but Olivia was trying. She didn't like discipline but today, following her orders for the most part, she did well. Everyone was happy and Olivia even told her she was proud of her. She blurted it all out. She told her about her parents and how they never cared. She told her how she ended up coming to New York. About her aunt who overdosed. The dump of an apartment, being jumped, and sleeping in the crib. "That's where the bruises came from ok."
Amanda was breathing so hard and shaking. She kept it in for years and never told anyone. Olivia didn't want to crowd her, "You can stay here. I have a guest room, with a bathroom. Maybe once you get settled at SVU, get in a routine. I can help you find a place." Olivia really wanted to say, stay with and let me take care of you, but it was too soon. "Why are you being nice to me?" Olivia laughed, "If you call me being on your butt all day, nice, we need to go over some things."
Olivia showed her to her room and told her the bathroom had towels and soap. "I don't have clothes." Olivia held up her finger and left the room. She came back with shorts and a T-shirt. "It's going to be a little big, but it will do. When you're done, drop your clothes in the washer and I'll take care of it." Olivia left her to do what she needed to do. When Amanda was done she peeked down the hall. Olivia left the washer up and ready. She threw her clothes in and looked at Olivia's door that was open. She walked to the door and knocked.
Olivia was sitting on her bed. She was wearing shorts and a tank top. Amanda admired her body. She was older than Amanda but her body was toned and her skin was perfectly and naturally tan. Amanda felt hot in all the wrong places. This couldn't happen, this was her Sergeant. "Ummm Sergeant Benson, do want me to start the washer?" Olivia jumped up and when Amanda saw her boobs her stomach flipped. Amanda didn't have any, never did.
When Olivia walked by her smell was overpowering. All of Amanda's nerves were now sensitive. "You can call me Liv if you want?" Olivia turned on the machine, "I don't want to mess up at work." Olivia smiled, "You can call me Liv at work too, everyone does." Olivia leaned close to Amanda's face, "Plus, if I'm pissed, you'll know the difference."
Olivia grabbed Melinda's pills, "You should take these and get some rest." Amanda scrunched up her face, "What's wrong Amanda?" She hesitated, "Amanda after everything you got off your chest tonight, what's wrong?" Amanda shrugged, "I need to crush them up and put them in applesauce or something." Olivia smiled, she really was a kid. Olivia started to think she didn't have a chance to be anything more than a mentor and colleague. "Ok, let me help you." Olivia crushed up two, put some pudding on a spoon, "Open up." She raised those eyebrows and Amanda thought she sexy as fuck.
She opened her mouth and swallowed hard. "Ok. Do you want the rest of the pudding?" Amanda shook her head, "Amanda are you ok?" Amanda snapped out of it, "Yeah, thanks. I'll just finish it, wait for my clothes, and go to bed." While Olivia was thinking she didn't have a chance, Amanda had completely different thoughts. She put her head on the pillow, "What am I thinking? She's a Sergeant and no way would she ever want me. I don't even know if she goes that way. Hell, what am I thinking about. I didn't even know I went that way." Amanda took a deep breath, "I'm having a debate with myself and losing my mind." Her eyes got heavy. She was trying to stay awake to put her clothes in the dryer.
The next thing Amanda knew it was morning and a dressed Sergeant Olivia Benson was sitting next to her on the bed. "Wake up sleepyhead. I let you sleep as long as I could, but you have to get up." Amanda sat straight up in the bed, "My clothes, I fell asleep." Olivia pointed to the dresser where her outfit was neatly folded. "I figured the meds would kick in. How do you feel?" Amanda actually felt good. She hadn't slept well at all. "Pretty good." Olivia patted her leg, "Get going." Everything Olivia did made Amanda feel a certain kind of way, that she shouldn't feel.
When Amanda was done she walked out and into the front room. "Sit. Eat." Amanda sat down and looked at the plate. She thought no wonder her body looked so good. She ate healthy. "I don't normally eat Liv, you know breakfast." Olivia smiled at the name, "I had to make you eat last night too. Is every meal going to be a fight?" Amanda had fresh fruit, oatmeal, and a white egg with green stuff in it. She ate the fruit, then some of the oatmeal, "Liv, what is this?" Olivia laughed, "A spinach egg white omelette. I need you to eat so we can go." Amanda never had it before, she tried it. "Hmmm. It's pretty good." Olivia got up to do the dishes and laughed.
They headed to work and after about 30 minutes, Nick Amaro made his entrance. "Hey Nick!" Amanda knew him from narcotics. Cragen came out for the introductions. "Fin, help him get cleaned up. This isn't narcotics, son." Amanda was reading over the files that Olivia wanted her to read up on. She was also showing her how to fill out the different paperwork that came with the job. When she leaned over, Amanda could see straight down her shirt. She was wearing a navy blue lace bra. Cragen called out, "Liv, I need a minute." Amanda jumped because it scared her. She hoped the Captain did see what she was looking at.
Olivia walked in and closed the door. "Yeah Cap!" Cragen smiled, "How is she doing? Yesterday was pretty impressive." Olivia agreed, "She's ok and yesterday was good, but she doesn't listen. She could have been seriously hurt. She has more to her story. A lot of past trauma. I'm sure she's hiding more." Cragen sighed, "Well, keep me posted. Listen, I want to move people, you know for partners. I'm going to try Munch and Nick. You and Fin with Amanda. Let me know how it's working out." Olivia told him great. "Oh and Liv are studying for the Lieutenant's exam? I won't be around forever." Olivia smiled and finished with Amanda.
