Chapter 4 on time whoop whoop, Well I hope it's on time I finished on the 22nd of April.

Breakfast in the mansion is a hectic happy scene, the three teenagers bump into each other multiple times, making a mess as they make breakfast. They divide the tasks, Jeremy toast, Caroline bacon and Anna eggs.
They laugh as they eat around the homely breakfast nook her mother designed hundreds of years earlier. The previous days worries washed away. Over breakfast Caroline asks Anna to be her date to the founder's ball. Grinning she agrees, asking Jeremy if he were going, he snorts "Even before my parents died, I never went to that thing."
"Do you have a dress?"
Anna shrugs "Probs not." Laughing Jeremy asks to be dropped off at home before shopping hell.
[Shopping]
It took them 30 minutes to drive to the mall from Jeremy's house,
"I need to ask my Uncle to send out some of my clothes."
"Nik?" Caroline asks hopeful, her eyes lighting up.
"No, Caro, no you can not be attracted to my uncle. No bad Caro."
Caroline just laughs at her. Anna glares, "No I was talking about my other uncle, I have three you know. I think he's at the house in London right now, that where I was staying before."
"Can I go through your closet, please?"
"Don't sleep with my uncle and you can have anything you like."
"You said I'd like him, you said you'd introduce us,"
"Because he's halfway across the world."
With a grin Caroline asks for his number, Anna jokes that if she keeps Elaine and Bonnie away from her at the founders ball she'll do anything.
They shop for hours, getting more than just one dress and some accessories. They shop and talk. Caroline tells her about her parents' divorce, and Anne tells Caroline about her eccentric family and how crazy they all are. Caroline asks her how many famous people she's met over the years. They laugh and joke for hours before making their way to Caroline's place.
[Caroline's house]
Caroline invites Anna in instantly, no hesitation making her smile. She shouts for her mother hearing nothing; signing she leads Anna upstairs.
"What are you wearing," She asks as a distraction. "You didn't buy anything while we were out."
Caroline rummages around in her closet pulling out two dresses one yellow one blue. "I like the yellow one, but what do you think."
"Yellow, its cute. You should pair it with the white cardigan, and." She pauses rummaging through Caroline's jewellery box "This." She pulls a heart locket out.
Anna catches sight of new moon on her bed and groans, "You read this shit."
"It's not shit, its good literature. And how come you don't sparkle?"
"No Shakespeare, Poe, Stephen king, Ann Rice. Mary Shelley They are amazing literature. And we don't sparkle because then we would suck. Real vamps burn in the sun.
"You don't burn, wait is that because your only half vampire?"
She smiles sitting on the bed holding up a hand to show the ring on her finger. "This is a spelled ring with a special stone, it's called a daylight ring it allows vampires to walk in the sunlight, but yeah if I took it off," She removes the ring holding her hand in line with the steam of sunlight coming through the window. "I don't burn straight away, vampires start to smoke immediately, I'd have to stay in the sun a while, I could actually tan if I tried."
"Wait," Caroline falls into her desk chair as Anna puts her ring back on. "Damon bit me, will I become a vampire." She stares at Anna fear in her eyes. "My mum will hate me."
Anna crosses the room turning Caroline's chair till she is facing her vanity. Anna starts to brush her hair as she explains how humans' transition. Caroline stares at Anna through the mirror.
"So I could die now and become a vampire," Anna shakes her head.
"You would be in transition, you need to drink human blood to complete the transition, if you choose not to drink the blood you would just die like a normal human."
Anna finishes playing with Caroline's hair asking if she is going to be ok. She takes a deep breath before nodding, Telling Anna that she has to go meet Bonnie for dinner at the grill, smiling Anna says she'll see her there, she is meeting Jeremy for lunch.
[Mystic Grill]
They both pull in at the same time, sharing a smile as they park in sync. Bonnie is waiting for Caroline leaning against her car. As soon as she reaches her Bonnie starts to complain about her asking Anna to go to the party instead of her, Ann rolls her eyes as she walks past them into the grill, looking for Jeremy. The first people she sees makes her cringe; the Lockwood family being served by Vicki. Jeremy waves her over from a table not far from theirs. Thankfully the two older Lockwood's leave as she sits down. As soon as the door closes behind his parents, Tyler swaggers up to flirt with Vicki. Jeremy and Anna share a look as they make their orders with a different waitress. Anna's head audibly hits the table as Tyler asks Vicki to the founder's ball. Jeremy pats her on the head, watching Tyler leave the grill with a pep in his step. "You realise you had to ask him to ask you, right?"
"You figure if you dress up like a respectable young lady, he'll finally treat you like one." Anna lifts her head to finishes for him.
"Screw you both!" Vicki storms away towards the back of the restaurant. As the waitress appears with their food, smiling they thank her, putting Vicki far from thought.
[The mansion]
After dinner with Jeremy Anna heads home to unpack her dress for the founder's ball, she walks into her closet, searching her vanity to find the right makeup, waiting for Caroline to show up. Hearing her pull up Anna hangs her dress up to admire its simplicity, a strappy red knee length dress, simple but elegant.
"Your closet is huge!"
"You should see the one in our house in Rome. Three floors, it's basically a mall."
"Let's skip the party and go to Rome."
Anna shakes her head, declining the offer, with the simple reasoning that her Uncle was there.
"All the more reason to go." Anna throws a makeup bush at her,
"Wrong Uncle."
"How many uncles do you have? Are they all hot." Anna starts to wave her hands frantically, with a resounding no, telling her to behave herself.
They spend the next two hours getting ready, Anna tells Caroline about what happened between Vicki and Tyler at the grill, she rolls her eyes. Pointing out how typically of her that is.
[At the founder's party.]
Caroline and Anna arrive at the party arm in arm. Carol Lockwood is stood at the door inviting in guests. As soon as she sees Caroline, she is oozing compliments. Caroline thanks her, smoothly introducing Anna in the conversation.
"Lovely to meet you."
They walk past Mrs Lockwood after she has invited them in, Caroline stops a few feet into the room, staring across at her mother who is still in her sheriff's uniform. Caroline walks over a frown marring her face,
"Really, you couldn't even change out of the badge for this?"
"I'm working, honey. Who's your friend I've not seen her around before." Anna holds out a hand introducing herself, explaining her family has just moved here. Sheriff Forbes looks around.
"Where are your parents?" Smiling anna explains that her father is working in Peru and her mother is visiting a sick relative in New Orleans. Going into why they send her ahead, so she didn't miss anymore school than she had too.
"Mum, stop interrogating my friend, we are going to enjoy the party." Caroline drags Anna off before her mother can reply.
They bump into the salvator brothers and their dates at the original guest registry. At Stefan's comment about original salvator brothers the girls share a glance, rolling their eyes. Stefan frowns at the shared look. Caroline just mimes 'I know your secret' while Elena isn't looking. Stefan is too busy gaping to stop Tikki dragging him off too dance.
Damon apologies to Elena for trying to kiss her, Anna snorts,
"I'm surprised you didn't kiss him back; seems like something you would do." Elena sucks in a breath, glaring at Anna.
"You don't even know me." She hisses before spinning and storming away.
"Such bad manners miss Zhu."
"Not my name dumbass."
"Zhu as in Pear Zhu her name is on the registry." She's the ancestor that died, when soldiers fired on the church, the reason my family left this god forsaken town Caroline."
"I'm sorry, Anna," Caroline whispers.
"I know you don't believe it but I'm sorry too." Anna freezes whipping around. Damon keeps talking before she can slap him, "I didn't know what they were doing, I tried to stop them."
"Not the time to have this conversation. Even if it were, I would never except your apology, between you, your brother and Katherine you screwed everything up."
Damon looks down he actually looks apologetic, sorry for the part he played. He closes his eyes before looking her straight in the eye, leaning forwards, until he is right next to Anna's ear, grabbing her arm before she can shrink away. "Stefan has vervain." Eyes wide, Anna searches his face for deceit, finding none she curses.
"Come on Caro, I need a drink." she storms past Damon grabbing two champagne flutes from a passing waitress. She doesn't stop, not even as her phone rings, it rings several times until the person on the other end gives up.
They finally stop walking inches from the lake, glaring out at it she hands a flute to Caroline. She tries to make a joke about her mother seeing. Anna tries to crack a smile failing she downs her drink.
They stand by the lake in silence until they see Damon storms down the path dragging Tiki with him. He yells at her for letting Elena see her neck. He Attacks, biting her neck viciously, before Anna has time to react Damon has hit the floor, Tiki's blood was laced with vervain. Stefan is standing over him in an instant mocking him. Stefan stares at Anna as if daring her, she rolls her eyes, and they watch in silence as he drags Damon away. Once the brothers are gone, they rush to Tiki's side checking her pulse. Anna scoops the necklace she saw him drop of the ground. Anna goes on to compel Tiki to forgot. They decide to drop her off at home before heading home themselves, having enough of the night.
When they are dropping Tikki off, Caroline notices that Anna has multiple miss calls from Jeremy. She jumps into the driver's seat grinning as she waits for Anna to return.
"Caro, I love you but you're not driving my car."
"Yeah, I am, I'll drop you off." At Anna's confused look, Caroline chucks her the phone. Seeing the miss calls and the text she just tells Caroline to drive fast.
"Ow and I'm gonna crash at your place tonight ok, but remember we have the sexy suds car wash in two days, do you need a bikini, or do you have some at home, I'll check for you and text you if we need to go shopping again, we can do it after school tomorrow." Anna smiles listening to her ramble as they pull up at the gilbert house.
She dives out the car ignoring Caroline's laughter, rushing to the door, she nocks until Jeremy swing it open looking concerned.
"Anna." he sounds startled.
"What happened?" she asks looking him over searching for injury. He gives her a genuine smile, pulling her through the door and towards the couch, once they are settled, he tells her everything, for Vicki showing up to his rejection. She pulls him in for a hug asking him if he's going to be ok. He smiles again, "For the first time in a long time, I think I'm going to be OK."
