here's chapter 4! sorry to disappoint you guys but I'll be less active in updating cause school has been hectic nowadays but I'll try to write whenever I get some free time, hope you'll like this chapter please r&r!

on her way, she passed an ice cream parlor and saw someone in there who looked a lot like her husband with a woman with short blonde hair. their backs were turned towards her but her jaw dropped as she saw her daughter and son there picking out ice-cream so it had to be her husband. just then the blonde woman turned around and picked up a little boy and alison felt her heart being stabbed with a knife as she saw who her husband was with
"lily" alison said under her breath with anger and made her way inside the ice cream parlor
while lily was holding up eric in her arms to help him decide which ice-cream to eat rufus was paying for jenny and dan's picks when he saw his wife alison storming towards them with an angry expression on her face what the hell is she doing here? rufus thought to himself and gulped being in the same room as your wife and ex is never a good situation
"what is going on here?" alison asked giving an 'if looks good kill' glare to rufus
lily jumped at the sound of alison's voice and turned around to see non-other than rufus's wife standing there with her arms crossed
"hey, honey! I took the kids to central park and we bumped into lily and her kids and they became friends so we took them out to lunch and dessert" rufus was nervous about this having lily and alison in the same room never ended well
"yeah they insisted and it's good to see you alison" lily said offering a fake smile. her day with rufus and the kids was going so well and now her mood was completely spoilt because of this
"likewise lily" alison replied with the same expression
"hi mommy!" little jenny said to her mother interrupting the conversation with ice-cream smeared all around her mouth
"hi darling" alison said and picked jenny up and noticed her son wasn't here and looked around and saw him sitting at a table not too far away, eating ice-cream and talking to a blonde girl around his age who she presumed was lily's daughter.
"mommy we had pizza with eric and serena! lily was there too she's so pretty" jenny told her mother with enthusiasm
"that's nice" alison replied not liking the fact that her daughter called lily pretty
"uh you can stay and join us too if you want?" rufus asked
"no it's fine I'll just see you back at home I have to paint anyways" alison then put jenny on her feet and she scampered off to sit with dan and serena
"Oh alright" rufus replied and alison pulled him closer to herself and pecked his lips. lily had to look the other way because she was sure she was going to vomit. alison smiled at the little blonde boy in lily's arms then left.
rufus and lily looked at each other and blushed then rufus mumbled something about going to sit with the children and left. lily quickly got eric's ice-cream and went to the table to sit. she put eric in the high chair next to jenny and sat down next to rufus, they were both sitting across dan and serena
"well that was...awkward" rufus said after a minute to lily after watching the kids chattering with each other
"yeah" lily chuckled keeping her eyes on the kids
"how's everything with alison?" she asked facing him and looking into his beautiful hazel eyes
"well we have been having kind of a rough go as of lately but I think it's working out" he replied and saw a hint of sadness in her intoxicating green eyes and found himself feeling the same
"that's great I'm happy for you" she felt a knife being stabbed in her heart and turned her face away from him looking at the children again afraid if she would look at him again she would say things like I miss you or I love you
"I really am sorry about you and william I know you loved him" rufus said not keeping his eyes off of her, even if he didn't want to admit it he knew lily loved william but she wasn't in love with him. still, he knew it would have hurt her nonetheless.
"well he loved his work more than me or our kids" she looked down at her lap and started fiddling with her bracelet. he took her hand and intertwined their fingers and used his other hand to lift up her chin forcing her to look at him
"I'm sorry" he said quietly and looked deep into her eyes, his gaze wandered down to her soft pink lips and all he wanted to do at that moment was kiss her. they both leaned forward but suddenly jumped apart and let go of each other's hand when they heard the kids
"all done!" the kids shouted and showed their parents the empty ice-cream cups. lily blushed fiercely and told all the kids to go throw the cups in the bin. she looked at rufus and their eyes locked and their cheeks heated up. oh my god! did I just almost kiss rufus humphrey?! what the hell is wrong with me? he's married for god's sake! lily scolded herself
"uh we should get home now" lily said when the kids came back to the table
"yeah us too I'll walk you home" rufus replied
"no it's fine I'll just call my driver" lily put the kid's jackets on and took eric in her arms
"all right I'll just walk, my place isn't that far" he replied and they both went out of the ice-cream shop with their kids in tow and lily called her driver
"all right kids say bye to jenny and dan" lily said and put eric down so he could say goodbye. All the kids hugged each other goodbye and promised to meet soon for another playdate.
"I'll see you later then lil" rufus awkwardly kissed her cheek and they both said goodbye and rufus started to walk away and lily got all the kids settled in the limo.

three days had passed since lily last saw rufus and it was the day for the playdate. ever since bumping into rufus, she can't stop thinking about him, little things would remind her of him and she started thinking how it would have been like if they were still together, would they be married by now if she would not have left him? would they have kids of their own? lily didn't regret having serena and eric for a second but it was fun to think about the idea of them still being together
"mommy! look at my dress!" serena's voice brought lily out of her daydream as she saw her daughter coming down the stairs in a light pink floral dress with a matching headband and shoes.
"you look amazing darling!" lily said and kissed her little girl's cheek
"did you get all your toys out and clean your bed?" lily asked, the kids would start coming in about an hour so she had serena clean her room as well as bring her toys out
"yes!" serena gave her mother a toothy grin
"good girl go play with your brother mommy has to go get ready okay?" lily said
"okay!" serena then ran up the stairs and went to the playroom
lily headed up to her room and started doing her makeup and hair, she went for a natural look with a bold red lip and had her blonde locks down in waves. she headed to her massive closet and took out the dress she had earlier bought from bendels, it was a bodycon strapless white dress with ruffles at the bottom. the back of the dress went just below her knees and the front hit a little lower than her mid-thigh, she paired the dress with strappy white heels.
after getting ready she went downstairs and saw the caterers and the nannies were there, she started directing the caterers on what to do and had two nannies stay upstairs with the kids and two downstairs
after some time all the kids along with their parents started trickling into the penthouse, almost all of them were here except dan, jenny, and blair
"oh lillian you look amazing!" eleanor waldorf stated as she came into the penthouse
"eleanor it's so good to see you!" she said and kissed her friend on the cheek
"hi sweetie! serena and all the kids are upstairs you can go join them briggeta will take you" lily said to blair referring to briggeta one of the nannies
"okay!" blair replied and let the nanny take her upstairs
eleanor decided to stay with lily at the penthouse and help with the kids if needed and also gossip with her friend. after about five minutes of talking and drinking tea on the couch lily heard the elevator door open and felt her stomach doing flip-flops as she saw who it was.
"rufus alison hello" lily said and walked towards them
hope you guys liked it! also, I know there was some confusion with rufus and lily's eye colour but I checked and lily (kelly rutherford) actually has green eyes and rufus (matthew settle) has hazel eyes. also please keep in mind that in this fic scott doesn't exist and lily left rufus because of her mother.
